ITunes initiates inadvertent sound from Windows 7

Something recently changed in my setup that I'm not aware of. Whenever I have ITunes open every two minutes I get a strumming sound that I'd like to eliminate. I've gone into the sound control panel and there is nothing here that appears to be the culprit. I'm at a loss of where to turn next.

No sound from windows 7 on bootcamp

I bought my lovely brand new imac, done all the updates and all is good, I installed windows 7 on bootcamp but cannot not get any sound from the windows, yes I get sound while running the mac but when I boot to windows 7 i hear nothing.
Now the meters that should pop up and down do that so there is sound there I just cant hear it, I have gone without sound for 3 months now and its driving me mad.
I have been to various sites and downloaded high definition drivers etc but still no luck, any ideas?

You need to install your audio driver yourself, which would be RealTek.

ITunes library transfers imperfectly from Windows 7 computer to iPad2

Hi. At my wit's end here... I have a pristine iTunes music collection on my Windows 7 laptop (no duplicate albums, all album artwork displayed, yada, yada..) but when I sync it with my iPad 2, I get duplicate albums with content split between the two, albums out of order, etc? Is there a way to have both libraries look identical? Thanks in advance for your help...

Transferring iTunes to new Mac from Windows

Hello, My wife and I both have iPhone 4s, and just purchased a MacBook Air, and recently updated to Lion OS. Previously, our iTunes / iPhones was on a Windows XP OS.
We are having trouble properly running the phones iTunes accounts on the new MacBook Air. I have also tried setting up “Home-sharing” for my home MacBook Air and work Windows XP OS, but seems not to work correctly, so would like to cancel “Home-sharing” on the MacBook Air and Windows and just use the Mac for updating iTunes (podcast).
We had the same iTunes account for both devices on our home Windows OS, but would like to make separate accounts on the new MacBook Air machine.
It would be highly grateful to receive advice on how to reinstall iTunes and setting up our phones on 2 different accounts on the MacBook Air.

Question: how do I move my entire library PLUS ALL THE ASSOCIATED PLAYLISTS/RATING HISTORY/SKIP HISTORY/PLAYCOUNT HISTORY/etc, WITHOUT CREATING DUPLICATES, to my new mac from my Vista machine?
My situation: Vista machine; meta data saved on my Vista machine hard drive*, but the music files are on an external hard drive.
Solution: ???. (I'm guessing it's as simple as saving the library meta file to a cd, then put the cd in the mac, and double click the file, and then all that library info would be added to iTunes on the mac .... but then how do you then add the music to the mac so that the library finds each song that it's supposed to find, without creating duplicates, while keeping all your rating history, skip history, playcount, playlists, etc???)

ITunes won't open from windows - error message

Every time I try to open iTunes or Quicktime from my desktop or anywhere else, this message something like this comes up: "Windows has encountered a problem and must close iTunes. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please click here to send an error report." Because of another problem on my computer, which has already been fixed, I have had to reinstall all my progams recently, including iTunes, but after installing and reinstalling a number of times yesterday, it cannot open. Other programs, like skype, are all working fine. Can someone help me figure out why my system can't open iTunes?

It's oviously a problem of iTunes 9.1, which does not seem to fin the syncserver. exe or some of its dependent files.
User icefoxxxx showed me how to solve the problem. Anyway, Apple has to fix this, many people will have the problem:

you won't believe how I fixed it... my syncserver.exe can't run because some dll is missing, but I notice the dll is in another folder "Apple Application Support". So I copied all files in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
over to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
and it solves everything!
Obviously there is something wrong in registering the former folder by the new itunes installation program. Hope next version fixes it.

Will iTunes Load When Switching From Windows to Mac?

I am fed up with living in the "Windows" world; I just bought a new PC and already it is giving me problems. Everyone I talk to says Mac is the way to go; my main concern is importing my already existing iTunes library...I have created a back up of my iTunes off my PC; if/when I purchase a Mac will I be able to import the library or will I have to start from scratch?

Itunes won't launch from Windows XP

Feel like I must be doing something fundamentally wrong. Have downloaded itunes from website (plus de-installed and reinstalled several times), but itunes won't open when icon is clicked. It doesn't open from start menu either. Waiting to load up daughter's new ipod 30Gb with video, but cannot get past first base.

I have never installed any of the problem codec packs so I don't know what they look like. Usually people install them intentionally and know what the look like.
Have a good look around in Start>>All Programs to see if you can see anything that looks like them. If you find one ther should be an uninstall facility.
If any one else can help with this please do.
Anyway if you can't find anything this is how you do the cleanup and reinstall, it's probably worth a go if can't find anything, but if you do have an incompatible codec, it won't work.
He is the list of known problem codecs again:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter
You can Google the names to see if that rings any bells.
Reinstalling Quicktime:
Download the stand alone Quicktime:

When you come to your C:\Windows\system32\ folder you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
Restart you computer
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check if it starts.
If it does you are in a position to find out if iTunes is OK.

ITunes takes away sound from movies i sync for my ipod.

I got a new ipod nano video and i load all my movies into itunes
then i click the button saying sync for ipod/iphone
it takes about 5 hours to do that for each movie which is fine
but then once its done the sound is completely gone from the movie
so when i put it on my ipod there's no sound
if someone knows why and how I can fix it, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to transfer my itunes library from my Windows PC to my Macbook via Home Sharing. I followed all the steps in the KB and everything was looking fine, but I can't get the import button to enable, if there something that won't allow this from a Windows PC?

Yes, no. You can transfer your media files with Home Sharing but your library is more than media files. It's your playlists, ratings, playcount, etc. To transfer that:

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.

If you put it in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

Finally, I got to hear sound from windows 7 as guest OS.
I gave up to use virt-manager and launches OS image by command line
like follows.
% export QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=alsa
% qemu-system-x86_64 /mnt/win/win7qemu002 -cpu kvm64,+nx -enable-kvm -m 1536 -soundhw hda -usb
Then, sounds works good.
# However, the quality is bad because of heavy CPU load.
Virt-manager may make things complex..

No Sounds from Anything due to update!!!

Hey all, I'm amoungst the fools who decided to upgrade and I suddenly got no sound in ituens but had sound everywhere else. SO I did the rollback and now have 6.5 running with QT 7.1 and not only do I not have any sound from itunes, I have nothing from Windows media, or my browser or anything. PLs. help this is driving me beserk. I've tried everything I can find on this forum and nothing seems to work for me!

I too am having this problem. I am getting no sound when I play any kind of file in Quicktime or iTunes. Is there any resolution other than going back to iTunes 6?
