ITunes insists on importing WMA files alphabetically - not good

Question

I am dragging music from My Music file into iTunes, which is quick and easy, but iTunes is putting them in alphabetical order instead of the order they are on the CD/album. Do I have a choice in the order? Please help - this is not life threatening, but very annoying. Thanks.

Select one or more tracks (use SHIFT or CTRL for multiple selections), then right-click & *Get info* or use CTRL-I to get the tag editing dialog. To set track numbers select the first listed track of the album, CTRL-I, enter the correct track number, press next, enter the next number. Repeat until you've labelled every track.
You say you can see track numbers in Windows Media Player, but what about Windows Explorer in details mode? Do the track numbers show there? WMP sometimes updates it's own library without comitting the changes to the file's tag. It's supposed to queue up the writes & do them later when it's not busy but it sometimes forgets altogether. In WMP *Library... Apply Media Information Changes* should force it to commit all updates.
