Itunes install fails

I attempted an Itunes update and it failed. I attempted several days later with same results. Meantime Itunes no longer works. So I came to this site and tried to do a new install.
During the install I kept getting the message "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have suffient privileges to start system services." I clicked on ignore each time. Then I began getting the message "Runtime error! .... R6034 ..... An application made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly....". I clicked on "OK"
After the install supposedly completed, I got the message "Itunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall .....Error 7 (Windows error 1114)"
Can someone explain what I'm doing wrong ?

  • Itunes install fails on windows vista

I had done an update to iTunes some time ago. It failed. I tried all the methods to fix it and in the end removed iTunes, Quicktime, etc. I have removed the programs. deleted the directories and cleaned the registries of the misc entries (using RegCure) rebooting in between each step.
the exact message is "Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I only have one user made on the machine - which is of course admin. I have tried changing ownership and permissions on the iPod directory after it is created all to no avail.
Please just don't link the the "remove iTunes from a windows vista machine" thread. I have run the MS cleanup utility also. I have tried all kinds of things people have suggested and so far none have worked. PLEASE help me.

I had used msconfig and aggressively turned off startups and services. I had not done it after a fresh uninstall and cleanup and reboot though. Just the reboot as part of applying the changes made and trying to reinstall iTunes. I had just completed that to no avail.
So what I just tried was as follows:
    1. Uninstalled all Apple software including QuickTime, Bonjour, Software Updater and Mobile Device Support using the Apple guide.
    2. Rebooted.
    3. Ran RegCure to remove misc registry entries no longer associated with iTunes, etc.
    4. Ran MS Installer Cleanup Wizard.
    5. Deleted any remaining Apple directories in c:\Program Files.
    6. Rebooted.
    7. Ran msconfig and aggressively deselected startups and services. Ensured iTunes and iPod where selected. Ensured selective startup was selected.
    8. Rebooted.
    9. Downloaded and reinstalled iTunes.
    10. Received the same failure notices - the failed to start one and if i tried to start the iPod service manually through the service manager, failed to respond in a timely manner message. The events log for the iTunes install error is "A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the iPod Service service to connect." and the event log for the manual start from the service manager attempt is: "The iPod Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
    11. Changed permissions for all entries in the permissions list to full control.
    12. Tried reinstall - failure.
    13. Took ownership of c:\program files\ipod directories and files.
    14. Tried reinstall - failure.
    15. To make sure I tried the install two times - once with my iPod connected and once without.
    16. Wrote this entry in the forums.
Previously I had tried the new admin user you had suggested.

  • ITunes install fails due to Error Code

I'm trying to install iTunes and I get the message Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services. I then have 3 options - Abort - Retry - Ignore which provide no success. If I ignore it the installation process completes however it states that the installation failed 'Error Code 7 (Windows error 126)' re-install iTunes. I've tried running the download as administrator with no success.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • ITunes install fail -  Apple Mobile Device Support not installing - Windows 8

So I have a Windows 8 Pro system, and I've had to reinstall iTunes. Anyway I've been completely unable to do so. It simply either gets an error and does not install (where does itunes store its installer log files so I can see whats happening?) at all or it gets to the part where its starting up services and it fails when its trying to install and start the Apple Mobile Device Support service and so when I start iTunes I get an error message like this one:
"This iPad cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer to remove itunes, then install the 64bit version of itunes"
I've tried several times to uninstall and manually delete all the files related to itunes, but this has made no impact.
I have no idea what to do. Reinstalling my OS and all the apps just to get iTunes back really isn't something i want to do.

All sorted now.  Sorry b noir, but I cannot remember the error.  What I did was use the idea from another thread to copy the necessary files from one computer to another.  Fortunately I have a laptop on 8 so updated iTunes and coppied all the files from the /Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Apple/Mobile Device Support.  I then downloaded 2 programs to make the necessary registry entries.  This did not fully work so I searched the laptop registry for the version number of Mobile Device Support and then put it into the same desktop registry key.  This worked as I was now at the correct version.

When installing the new version of itunes i get the error message "installation of quicktime did not complete successfully itunes requires quicktime" but when i go to get the new version of quicktime on its own it works to update have had this problem since my hard drive was starting to fail so i put a new hard drive in and it still does not work.

iTunes installer is tellign me that it can't reference HKEYLOCALMACHINE32/software/Classes/.m4p
Okay, due to registry mirroring, that registry key is stored in the WOW6432 node in your registry. So when you look for it in regedit (if you're using the 64-bit regedit, which you get by default if running regedit on a 64-bit system, you'll find that key at:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node\Classes\.m4p
Check the permissions on the key. Do your user account, the Administrators group and the SYSTEM account have full control on it?

OK so I have been having problems installing itunes 8 on my computer it downloads ok but when it comes to install quicktime it will just not install. I was hesitant to come here because I have read all the support forums and have tried their solutions. I have downloaded every possible update for windows xp. How were you trying to uninstall it when you saw this message?
Did you see the message when following the steps under *Clean up iTunes installer files on the computer,* which would have you use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from Microsoft?
If not, try downloading the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and removing the installer files.

  • Quick Time 7.0d0 - itunes install failed

I know this topic has been probably been beaten to death, but it seems like I'm the only one who can't figure it out.
I've read almost all the posts, but am still stuck.
So.... Calling members like "B Noir" - Help!
After "successfully" installing and launching iTunes (7.0.1.8) , I am hit with a "Newer Version of Quicktime requred: Quick Time 7.0d0 installed, itunes requires Quick Time 7.1.3 or later. Please reinstall itunes." error, much like what happened in http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1287356

    Hi Kay
Thanks for the help so far.
Yes, I removed quicktime the same way I removed itunes - add remove programs.
Thanks for your thourough instructions. here are my results:
    1. deleting quicktime from system32
    2. installed itunes
    3. installed successfully
    4. itunes will not launch. error "Newer Version of Quicktime requred: Quick Time 7.0d0 installed, itunes requires Quick Time 7.1.3 or later. Please reinstall itunes."
    5. Try to run Quicktime and I get the error "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library: Runtime Error! Program: c:~\quicktimeplayer.exe. this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. please contact the application's support team for more information."
What do you think of all this?
    Thanks again,

  • ITunes 10.6.1 install failed

The system attempted to automatically update iTunes recently. It failed. I was busy at the time so I didn't really pay any attention to it. Fast forward a few days to now. When I launch iTunes, I am told "This copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes." I tried to do just that. I downloaded the 10.6.1 installer from Apple and attempted to install it. Again, the installation failed. Below are the Console messages. How do I correct this problem? I have already repaired disk permissions, verified the disk, and rebooted. The most notable things I did recently were:
    1) Updated Xcode from the App Store app. When the download and update completed, I accidentally hit the update all button in the App Store app again causing Xcode to start downloading. I immediately paused the download. The paused download disappeared from the App Store app's available updates list but it did appear in Launchpad. I tried to delete paused download from Launchpad and it didn't appear to work but somehow, it is now nowhere to be found in Launchpad.
    2) Streamed videos from my MacBook to my new Apple TV. Incidentally, the Apple TV malfunctioned (all icons but Computers and Settings were displayed) and I had to reset it to factory defaults. It works again.

On Oracle Metalink site, there are many documents which says that Oracle 32 bit software works on 32 bits OS and 64 bits software works on 64 bits OS. Official support is only in those combination....
So there is no good way to help you in your case-XE is 32 bit application with hard codded compiled libraries which most of them would not work on 64 bit OS.
