Itunes install issues error 7 - Windows error 193

Gents,
I am using Windows 7, had iTunes for years no issues I couldn't solve myself, this time I need help.
When the last update of iTunes came on, I tried to update my version but couldn't do the update (I don't remember the error message details, it just said that I had to re-install iTunes).
So I cleared ITunes and all Apple related softwares from my computer (yes in the recommended order, and yes I rebooted in between) tried to re-installed (numerous times) and I always get the same error messageS:
"Couldn't install ITunes Error 7 (Windows error 193)" and also "ITunes helper was not installed correctly"
When running the installer I get the error message "Apple Mobile device failed to start", even if I ignore this message during the install, I am unable to open iTunes once the install is done. (the install goes through and says install finished).
Note: I also tried to "fix" during the install, it didn't work.
Context / Trials / Notes:
- I tried to "repair" the Apple Mobile Device in programs (unsuccessfully)
- I had 2 Apple Mobile Device services, so after a complete un-install and reboot, I manually (command prompt) remove the last service
- In all my un-install attempts I went on the C: drive and made sure ALL folders were cleared of apple / iTunes traces. Delete ITunes setup file, empty the recycle bin of course, reboot etc)
- Windows is up-to-date - No viruses (using Malwarebyte/ AVG & Spybot).
I am at a loss, spent a lot of hours on the computer and on forums, but couldn't find the fix.
I would greatly appreciate your help, this is getting on my nerves and I really need to change the music on my iphone ! (lol)
thank you in advance

If the above hasn't helped then for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
Disabling your AV during installation may sometimes help.

"Error writing to file C:/Program Files/QuickTime/QTSystems/QuickTimeCheck.ocx. Verify that you have access to that directory."
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

    Okay.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Why doesn't 64 bit iTunes install on my Windows 7 64 bit PC?

Why doesn't 64 bit iTunes install on my Windows 7 64 bit PC?   I can download the 64-bit installer from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1427
But after I run the installer, I get an error message stating that the installer is for 32 bit machines and that I should download and install the 64 bit installer instead.  (Been there, done that, using two different browsers for the download.)  Why would I get such a message when my PC is 64 bit O/S and the iTunes installer purports to be for that type of PC?
    Please help,

When you get on the download page scroll down on the left hand side there is 64bit version.  I installed it. But the thing I can't work out is in task manger says 32bit

  • ITunes install fails due to Error Code

I'm trying to install iTunes and I get the message Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services. I then have 3 options - Abort - Retry - Ignore which provide no success. If I ignore it the installation process completes however it states that the installation failed 'Error Code 7 (Windows error 126)' re-install iTunes. I've tried running the download as administrator with no success.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Windows xp itunes install issue

I am attempting to install Itunes using Windows XP at Service Pack 3 with all the security updates installed. The instal begins and during the final process of setup, I receive the following error message and the Itunes instal backs out and stops.
Error message, " These is a problem with this Windows Installer package. Aprogram run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor".
I am looking for some advice after working on the Apple and Microsoft website's trying to find a solution.

Thank You B Noir for the helping hand in reapiring my problem in loading Itunes.
I ended up working with an Apple Service Tech who had me delete all the programs associated with the Apples Itune install. Quicktime, Apple Application Support, Apple Modile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Software Update.
Each of the programs were un-installed with no issues until we started the uninstall of Apple Software Update, which your note indicated could be a cause for the install issue.
Using the Windows program "Fixit" downloaded off the Microsoft website, we determined that the registry keys for this program had become corrupted. We used Fixit filtering down to an install repair module inside if Fixit to remove the damaged program from my PC's registry then Fixit uninstalled the Apple Software Update program.
Once this was done, we were able to successfully instal Itunes using the latest Itunes install packaged found on the Apple website.
    Thanks Again for your advice.

  • ITunes install is creating unexpected errors (this has never happened)

Let me just start off by saying, I have been using iTunes for almost four years; I love the program. Recently, my friend left the country about a month and a half ago (he was the computer expert), I have been unable to access iTunes for about a week now based on the following error with Windows Vista: An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT, version="8.0.50727.4053:, type="win32,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e8e3b",processor Architecture="x86". It told me to refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070422.
I am no computer guru, I have no idea what this means or who can fix it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes over 10 times. Additionally, Apple Mobile Device Support will not uninstall. When I do get iTunes and Quicktime installed it tells me that I am missing CoreAudio.dll, CoreVideo.dll, and CoreAudioToolbox.dll; once again, I am not a computer guru, I have no idea what this means. Please help, I have over 8200 songs downloaded and over 200 videos that I cannot properly access without iTunes. Thank you.

    HRESULT: 0x80070422
These ones are usually caused by an underlying problem on the PC that can also stop Windows Updates from installing. So my main strategy with them is to try to get the Windows update trouble fixed, which usually clears up the iTunes install trouble +en passant.+
Open your Windows Update and open your Update History. Have Windows Updates been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on the failures showing up in your update history. In the small box that comes up, what error code is shown for the Windows Update failures? Is it an 0x80070422 like your iTunes install error, or is it a different code? If they are different error codes, what error codes are you getting for the Windows Update failures?

  • ITunes "quits unexpectedly" - "reopening windows" error

    Hi all.
I have somehow killed iTunes 11.1.5 on my MacBook Pro (running OS 10.9.2).  I was asking a fair bit of iTunes - syncing two iPhones, streaming a movie to an Apple TV and sharing four movies from iMovie to iTunes (and whatever decoding that entails), when it quit "unexpectedly".  Now whenever I try to relaunch I get the following errors:
    1.  "The last time you opened Messages, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?"
Which is then replaced before I can click any of the buttons on the error window by
    2. "iTunes quit unexpectedly.  Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple."
I have done some googling, and tried the following to rectify and test the problem:
Verified and repaired permissions.  No change.
Verified and repaired the hard disk (from Utilities accessed by holding command + r hen restarting the computer).  No change.
Downloaded and reinstalled iTunes.  No change.
Copied an iTunes library from yesterday's working backup (.itl file) to the desktop and tried opening iTunes from this library (holding option while launching iTunes).  No change.
Creating a new libray.  No change.
Opening iTunes from the Guest User account - this worked, iTunes opened successfully.
I suspect that the process and solution outlined in this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5535315?start=0&tstart=0 will solve my problem, but I don't really want to do a heap of things that I don't understand and make things worse, unless advised otherwise here.
Soooo, if anyone can offer any guidance it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Whilst I have not been able to fix the issue decribed above, despite subsequent experimenting with removing preference files, etc., I have now resolved the problem by restoring my machine to the most recent Time Machine backup.  While the process took a few hours, it was quite easy and painless.

  • Can't open iTunes on my pc - Windows error 127

All of a sudden I am unable to open iTunes on my pc - i get the above error message - windows error 127 please reinstall iTunes.
I am worried that I will lose some or all of my music and apps - has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi joolyjools,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that you are getting an alert that informs you to reinstall iTunes on your computer and you are concerned for your music and apps. If you delete iTunes and reinstall fresh you shouldn’t lose any content from the iTunes Library because the content is not actually stored in the iTunes program. The following article will assist you uninstalling iTunes and its components. After the uninstall, make sure to restart your computer and then you can download iTunes fresh from the Apple website.
