Itunes install - No error messages, it just won't install

New computer with Vista Premium (64 bit). Downloaded Itunes 9, run the install, _it tells me that install has completed successfully_ (the "install" is fast - less than 20 seconds), but _nothing has actually been installed_. No error messages. I have tried everything that I can find on this board. By the way, Quicktime installed with no problems when I installed it separately.
Can anyone help with this problem? thanks

Try to force quit the mail app
Double tap the home button. When you see the app previews on the screen scroll sideways if needed to get the preview in question on the screen. Flick that preview up and off the screen to close the app. Single tap the home button or home screen preview to exit the mode.
Failing that, go into the settings, mail, contacts and calendars and remove your account info then put it back in and see if that works

Open iTunes and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

The question for me becomes what motivation do I (Apple's customer) have to download Autoruns from Windows, open a compressed folder, try to determine which Winsock Provider is mine, check for updates and then run whatever it is I need to run to fix this. All these steps just so I can access the Itunes Store and buy from Apple. It would seem that Apple would find a fix on their side so their customers don't have to do this. IMDB is listed as an add-on, but when I click on it to install it, I get an error message saying "this add on is not supported by Firefox". I find this very strange, since I have the add-on installed on my desktop--it just won't install to my laptop.

Compaq laptop with Windows 7 installed. My desktop PC uses Windows Vista SP2. I have the IMDB search engine add-on installed on my desktop, and it works perfectly. Wild guess but if your WinXP system has formatted your drive(s) as FAT32 then the maximum file size is 4GB. Could be that the download in 1080p is >4GB? (if formatted NTFS then this should not be a problem).
Again just a guess with iTunes on WinXP but something easy to check first.

It is always these four updates that fail. I've tried downloading and installing them seperately from apple downloads. I've tried various recommended fixes, and nothing I can figure out works. Before these problems, itunes worked on the computer for a year.

Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:

Error message reads: Operation could not be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error-1.) Couldn't open "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.pkg".

btw, I bought the CD version.
Lr window opens up upon instering the CD with the the "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.pkg" icon (with the picture of the brown box) and the "Lightroom 4 Readme.pdf" icon. That's as far as I can get.

You got it downloaded and I assume you mean it is installed as well. It was buggy for me.
I had to close and restarted iTunes before I could use it properly.
Then, I had to unplug and replug in my phone before it recognises it.
Just had to try everything. As final choice, update over the air. I try to avoid it as it tends to have more problems than a tethered update.

Ok... I just tried connecting my iPod directly to a USB port on the computer rather than via the USB hub I was using and everything is fine. Odd, but I'm happy now.

Error message -50 ever since I installed new version of iTunes... weird!

A few days ago I installed the new/updated version of iTunes from the 'automatic prompt' which informed me there was a newer version of the software available.
Now, ever since I've been using iTunes upon start-up I get this weird thing happening:
1- ITunes opens, no problem
2- Progress bar appears on screen saying "Updating iTunes library" (which never happened before I installed the new version on iTunes)
3- An Error message appears saying "the iTunes Library files cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-50). Do not warn me again"
Well, my iPod seems to be sync-ing fine and I've not lost any music, so I'm confused as to what this error message actually means.
If anyone can shed any light on this or what I've done wrong I would be most grateful.
I don't fancy losing all my podcasts and music! Ouch...

2. Backup your iTunes library (the folder ~/Music/iTunes) to a separate location (can be on the same volume)
3. Launch iTunes while holding down the option key and follow the steps to create a new library
4. In iTunes, choose Import from the FIle menu
5. Select the backed up ~/Music/iTunes as a source folder
6. Restore any deleted preferences

CS3 will not install on Windows 7, 64-bit. No error message. Just stops installing. This is a brand new machine. This is one of the first things I'm installing on it. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The disks are fine. I have the programs installed on my two XP machines. When I run the disk, I get the window pop up that says "Initializing Installation for Adobe Creative Suite 3". Then the disk stops spinning and nothing else happens. No error message. Nothing else happens. I'm baffled. I have searched several discussion boards and cannot find anybody that has had a similar install issue like this.
