Itunes install windows 7
just got this hp desktop and have tried several times to install itunes. i repeatedly get the following message. "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or comtact the application vendor to verfy that this is a valid Windows installation package." I downloaded the file from apple, ran it, found it and executed it. HELP PLEASE!!!
Have yet to discover why. However in my install of Windows 7.
Neither the Bonjour nor the iTunes folder were assigned admin privileges, even though I am the only user of the machine (the administrator).
Solution: Reboot in safe mode.
Navigate to the C:\Program Files\Bonjour folder –use right mouse button click – properties – security – edit – add – advanced – find now – (your name) – left click the name – Ok.
Then check the Allow – check Full Control then apply then Ok.
Do the same for the C:\Program Files\iTunes folder.
It worked for me and should allow iTunes to install or update

Hi
had itunes installed (windows vista 64), after lots of errors and refusing to sync nor repair nor upgrade - I uninstalled. the next step was that it didnt want to reinstall due to older version... have now removed all with Revo uninstaller pro. Now i cant re install as it tells me I dont have enough space even though i have 80gig open? dont know what else to try.Best to remove all music and re-sync from the Mac, which you can do without doing a complete Restore of the iPhone. Assuming that you auto-sync music and not manually manage music on the iPhone:
While connected to your Mac iTunes, change your sync settings by un-checking the "Sync Music" option, then apply the change to delete all the music.
Since there seems to be some funny business with iCloud, where some music downloads stubbornly remain on the iPhone despite attempts to delete them, disconnect from iTunes and check your iPhone to make sure all music really was removed. If you still see music, first turn off the "Show All Music" option (Settings/Music/Show All Music/OFF) since songs with a cloud symbol really aren't on the device. If after doing that you still see music on the iPhone, go to Settings/General/Usage/Music and swipe left to right across "All Music" and tap Delete. Hopefully that deletes past cloud downloads you may have done. If not, I've had to change to manual sync mode, manually deleting remaining songs by navigating into iPhone via iTunes, backing up, restoring from backup, then changing back to auto-sync mode.
Re-connect back to iTunes and change your sync settings to allow music syncing -- either your entire library, or selected playlists, genres, albums, etc.
You mentioned that your library is "only 14 GB" but consider that if you have a 16 GB iPhone you don't really have 16 GB of storage, so perhaps you're running up against a real capacity issue if you own a 16 GB model, or have a larger model but other things taking up space. So perhaps you can no longer sync your entire library as you expect. -
My ipod nano is no longer recognized by itunes after I installed windows 8.1. The ipod nano still is recognized and works with a Windows 7 computer
Hello, Pete.
Here is an article I would recommend going through when an iPod is not recognized by iTunes or the computer.
iPod not recognized in My Computer and in iTunes for Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1369
Usually the resolution is updating the Apple Mobile Device Driver. See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.

Although you're getting a different error message, try the procedure from the following user tip with that one:

Why can't I install Itunes on windows vista 64 bit?
Why can't I install Itunes on windows vista 64 bit? I have removed all apple software and repeated the reinstall many times but it fails. I get this complicated error mesage and then the installer rolls back and fails.
I get this complicated error mesage and then the installer rolls back and fails.
I'd like to have a closer look at that error message please.
Generate the error message again. While the error message box is open, hold down the Alt key and hit the PrtSc key. Paste the screenshot into an image file (using a program like Paint), and save the file.
Start a reply here and click the wee camera icon at the top of the reply window. Click "Choose file", browse to the image file, select the file and click "Open". Now click "Insert file" to insert the screenshot into the reply. -
I am trying to download and install itunes on windows 7. The download works fine and it appears that the install works fine as well but when it finishes itunes is nowhere to be found. I am in Mexico. Please help. Thanks
You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else. -
'm having a problem with downloading and installing the new version of itunes for windows (11.1.4) I have done everything the troubleshooting article has said and it is still not working properly. I have even done a repair to see if that works and it has not. Has anyone else found a new way to get it working?

Initially iTunes would not run although it had been running quite well up until now. Suddenly received this error on PC start-up "The program can't start because MSVC80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." Research on Net pointed me to iTunes as the issue. Tried to start iTunes and received that message again. Tried installing latest version of 64-bit iTunes and received the subject message part way through the install: Trying to install latest iTunes for Windows 7 64-bit. Keep getting this error message "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
iTunes has been running great on this PC for years. What's up?

Just installed itunes on windows 8 and can't open it
Have purchased a new computer with Windows 8. Have just installed itunes on it and now it will not let me open it!! Please help
Hello Jess2321,
I recommend this article named iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1717. The name says Windows 7 but the troubleshooting will be relevant for Windows 8, although some of the locations in the OS may be a bit different.
Take care,

Okay.
Doublechecking. Have you worked through the following troubleshooting document?

Itunes install issues error 7 - Windows error 193
Gents,
I am using Windows 7, had iTunes for years no issues I couldn't solve myself, this time I need help.
When the last update of iTunes came on, I tried to update my version but couldn't do the update (I don't remember the error message details, it just said that I had to re-install iTunes).
So I cleared ITunes and all Apple related softwares from my computer (yes in the recommended order, and yes I rebooted in between) tried to re-installed (numerous times) and I always get the same error messageS:
"Couldn't install ITunes Error 7 (Windows error 193)" and also "ITunes helper was not installed correctly"
When running the installer I get the error message "Apple Mobile device failed to start", even if I ignore this message during the install, I am unable to open iTunes once the install is done. (the install goes through and says install finished).
Note: I also tried to "fix" during the install, it didn't work.
Context / Trials / Notes:
- I tried to "repair" the Apple Mobile Device in programs (unsuccessfully)
- I had 2 Apple Mobile Device services, so after a complete un-install and reboot, I manually (command prompt) remove the last service
- In all my un-install attempts I went on the C: drive and made sure ALL folders were cleared of apple / iTunes traces. Delete ITunes setup file, empty the recycle bin of course, reboot etc)
- Windows is up-to-date - No viruses (using Malwarebyte/ AVG & Spybot).
I am at a loss, spent a lot of hours on the computer and on forums, but couldn't find the fix.
I would greatly appreciate your help, this is getting on my nerves and I really need to change the music on my iphone ! (lol)
thank you in advanceIf the above hasn't helped then for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
Disabling your AV during installation may sometimes help.
