ITUNES INSTALL WONT OPEN

The download of itunes and quicktime works and it says it successfully finished, but when i go to my desktop or progam files there is no itunes - there is only the itunes set up. why wont my itunes show up if it successfully downloaded? I have windows xp and i know that it has worked in the past but now it will not show up anywhere. PLEASE HELP! This is very frustrating and confusing. Thanks!

I did go to the program file on 'C' and used the Itunes icon (assuming that was the executible file) located there and it did open up, just fine so Thanks for that tip. I made a copy and put that on the desktop. I am having an odd problem though with this all together, it says the link for Quicktime is missing. The activex control to be exact. I go to the quicktime file, located on the c drive and I see the activex control there plain as day, but im guessing its an older one? But I have updated everything, so there has to be a file there.. guess ill keep searching.

If a solution is found I hope someone posts it soon. I have followed everything iTunes has asked for: new account, new pass, new info, and finally upgrade to iTunes 10. After attempting to Download 10. I was told that my iBook did not meet the system specs. I had looked earlier and found no sys specs, so I presumed it would download. I was wrong. After going through all of that I still cannot access the store. I had none of this problem a mere 2 weeks ago. So somebody please post a reasonable solution.

itunes store wont open and not able to back up my phone when i updated my computer with 10.5 (windows 7) help

So the Mic shows in System Preferences > Sound > Input tab but the volume adjustment makes no difference.
I have checked to see if MUTE, which would normally effect output had any effect and it does not. My blue bar still moves.
If System Profiler sees the Mic I would try deleting com.apple.audioDevices.Settings.plist from Hard Drive/Library/Preferences
These are the Preferences in the Library you can see when you open the Hard drive not the one in your home folder.
IF this does not bring the Mic back to full life it may need and engineer to tell you more.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

I downloaded Quicktime but iTunes still wont open

I accidentally removed Quicktime from my programs list because I didn't know that I needed it to run iTunes. so I went online and downloaded it and iTunes still wont open. Saying that: "Quicktime was not found!" and "Please reinstall iTunes" so I re-downloaded iTunes and I'm still getting the same message.
How do I get QuickTime back on my programs list?
Is re-downloading QuickTime a wast of time?
What am I doing wrong?
I can sit here and download it all day its not going to change anything?

If you just deleted QT from C:\Program Files you may be able to restore it from the Recycle Bin. If you used the add/remove control panel, you probably want to use it again. And then download a new iTunes QT installer

Itunes still wont open! I've tried everything.

I need help!
I have downloaded and installed the new itunes which just wont open. It comes up with the hourglass... then nothing (if I go to my task manager it says itunes is running.. it definitely isnt!). I have tried uninstalling itunes, installing standalone quicktime then redownloading itunes and it still wont open. Does anyone have any suggestions??

Uninstall iTunes. It's borked. Uninstall ewido. It's also borked.
Download, install and update Spybot Search & Destroy, then run it. Set it to run on next boot, as well.
You might also want to check your computer for rootkits.
Are you sure that your system meets the minimum system requirements cited below?

Itunes 7 wont open when upgraded

ive upgraded to the new itunes7 but when the installation is complete and i try to open itunes it simply wont open. no error message is displayed, the software simply wont open. i had no problems whatsoever with the previous itunes software and with previous upgrades. what do i do??

I am also having the same problem. Yes, I have Norton 2005, but there are no error messages and my Quicktime works perfectly. I had a problem similar to this the last time I updated, but I don't exactly remember how I fixed it. And what's even more annoying is that it shows up as a process, but I can't seem to end it, and it never actually opens.
yep, those are classic symptoms of the nastier versions of NIS-2005-related itunes error-message-free launch failures. we've been getting that since the itunes 4.8 days with NIS 2005. (it seems to be the luck of the draw as to whether or not folks get it on any given itunes version install or upgrade.)

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
