Itunes installation doesnt work because of Quicktime

I've had an ipod for a while, and then we switched to XP PRO for increased security. After sometime itunes stopped working. So my dad and i have used like every uninstaller and remover and some piece of quicktime is still somewhere on my computer. When i go into add or remove programs, it still shows quictime but doesnt show any file size or any option to delete it. When i install itunes, it just says quicktime cant be removed. then it says itunes needs quicktime and closes. please help.

I'm going through the SAME ****. I install Itunes and quicktime seems to go ok until the end of the installation and then all **** breaks loose. Some error comes up saying that I can't install it. THEN It says the installation finished successfully. So I click finish and what happends now is that it specifies that I need to update my quicktime to open itunes... I dont care about Quicktime, i want itunes to work, anyone have a link to an older STANDALONE version of itunes? Where you don't need quicktime?

  • New Itunes is not working because my imac is 10.6.8 need help ?

New Itunes is not working because my imac is 10.6.8 need help ....

Because you require Lion to run it. You should not have installed it.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase a redemption code at the Online Apple Store: OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. Use the code to redeem a download of Mountain Lion from the App Store. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later.
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model
                 Identifier 5,1 or later.
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later.
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later.
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • ITunes Won't Open Because of Quicktime

I have a computer with Windows 7 Pro and I can't get iTunes to work correctly on it.  I was getting an error message that was saying that iTunes couldn't open because Quicktime wasn't installed.  However, quicktime is installed and working properly.  I've uninstalled everything related to apple and reinstalled it, and after doing that, iTunes worked, but today I started getting the same error message.  I'm not sure what the issue is because there doesn't seem to be an issue with Quicktime.

  • Each time i install itunes - CD doesnt work when rebooted - HELP!

i installed itunes on my pc and found it easy to upload a cd to it and my ipod, however once i shut down my lap top - when i restart it the following day the cd drive is not working - running a diagnostic stated that there was no cd drvie! running windows media player states ' cd drive required' and when routing around on the pc it shows a big red cross next to the application called 'Driver' i have run the 'system restore' which removed itunes - and found that the drvier then worked - then reinstalled itunes which again worked - but once again once the laptop was rebooted the driver stopped working - does anyone know how to get around this problem as it is driving me nuts!

This just started happening to me too. Never had a problem before the last iTunes update. Its also disabled my built in memory card reader.
I have been keeping iTunes disabled and try not to use it unless I have to.

    hi Connie!
how do u kno if u have a k lite mega code pack?
hmm. i think it's something you need to install, so if you don't know you have it, you probably don't have it.
let's try this again, using a QT 7.0.3 standalone installer this time.
first use the QT part of the uninstall instructions given here to get rid of that existing QT you have:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
after you do that, download the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and use it to check if you still have an entry for Quicktime. if so, remove it:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
then download the standalone QT 7.0.3. save it to your hard drive (we'll run the installation from there rather than online). again, switch off any antivirus and antispyware prior to the install:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
reboot after that install. will itunes run properly now?
    love, b

  • Itunes will not work because of outdated quicktime

When I try to run iTunes it says that my current version of quicktime is version 7.0.4 and I need version 7.1.3 or something to that effect. When I checked the properties of my quicktime I found out that it is in fact the updated version, version 7.1.3. What can I do so that my updated iTunes will work?
