ITunes installation fails at Publishing Product Information
When installing Itunes 5.0.1.4 on Windows XP with SP2 the installation progresses until it reaches the Publishing Product Information stage, at which point the installer disappears without an error and nothing is installed. Help??

ITunes installation stops at "publishing product information"
I've been trying to install iTunes for months now and I feel like I've tried almost everything. It consistently stops at "publishing product information" every time. I'm running Windows 7. I REALLY need help!! Thanks!!!
I stand corrected; After hours of research I decided to restart from scratch and checked my Windows updates history, only to discover to my horror that the last 5 updates had failed... Traced the error (800700b) to a corrupted Windows file system log, cleared it following Microsoft's instruction, restarted the computer and bingo, the Itunes suite installed without a problem.
So I suggest you take a look at your Vista update history for failed updates. -
ITunes installer stuck at "publishing product information"
I have been trying to install itunes for Win7 64 Bit for the past few days.
I have - deleted all apple folders, uninstalled all apple products, restarted windows seven, disabled firewalls, resintalled. I get this error, it rolls back, then reinstalls successfully, but does not recognize my iPhone - defeating the purpose of me having itunes if I can't sync my phone.
And then when it tries again - it errors and says Service (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify you have sufficient priveledges to start system services. We have the same problem over here and investigated that the source of this problem is not the iTunes setup itself furthermore it's the setup of the Mobile Device drivers ("AppleMobileDeviceSupport64") that raises the provided error.
Maybe someone could work on a solution with this information.
We'll follow this thread...

Itunes 10.7 installation stuck on publishing product information
It's stuck on publishing product information when i try to download itunes 10.7
Thanks, kochdo! I thought there might have been one of those beasts lurking in the background of this.
A couple of questions.
(1) Do you currently have a copy of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package installed on that PC? If so, try downloading the following security update:
[Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package ATL Security Update|http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=766a6af7-ec73-4 0ff-b072-9112bab119c2&displaylang=en#filelist]
Does iTunes install for you after applying that update?
(2) If no joy there, head into your Windows Update and click on the Update History. Have a lot of Updates also been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on the entries for the failed updates to bring up more information on each. What error codes appear for you for the failed updates? (Precise spelling, please.) -
Installation stalled at "Publishing Product Information" on Winows7 64 bit

Itunes wont install--disappears after "publishing product information"
Hello,
When I install itunes, it will reach "publishing product information" and then suddenly disappear. I have read the posts, disabled my firewall, and looked at the support articles online--none of which have resolved my issue.
Do you have any suggestions?hi Katrina!
IF you are running DCOMCNFG to fix something, does that mean you got an error 1607?
here's what i think is going on with this poor chap.
our "publishing product quit"/1607 KB doc got revised on 31 january 2006:
iTunes for Windows installation quits while publishing product information
... and there's now an alternate set of treatment possibilities given in there for XP home users. people are being linked to the DCOM settings tip over at InstallShield:
Configure the DCOM Settings on Your Computer
so i think here that our OP has a "publishing product information" quit version of this problem, and followed up on that link, which is why DCOMCNFG got mentioned.

When I try to install itunes. it stops at Publishing Product Information and then I get an error code. What can I do to fix this?
These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 800736FD, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?) -
My HP Computer wont install itunes 10.5. it stalls at 'publishing product information' then rolls back the installment. I am running on windows 7.

"Publishing Product Information" error
I have Vista 64 - I CANNOT get iTunes to install successfully. I have followed the instructions both on these forums and off these forums using a variety of programs and methods to install/uninstall Quicktime/iTunes, link the 64 bit and x86 folders, etc. etc. and no matter what I try, the iTunes install crashes at "Publishing Product Information" - iTunes can open and apparently I can use it but I CANNOT USE MY iPhone with iTunes! It asks to reinstall it, and that again turns into a big circus act which ends in failure. My latest attempt, I went out and found iTunes 7.6 thinking that possibily 7.7 is the culprit, but iTunes once again croaks on "Publishing Product Information"
Please help, I would like to be able to use my iPhone with iTunes...I am having this exact same problem, I bought and activated my iPhone today and I was trying to sync it. I was then told that iTunes needed to update, which is perfectly fine. But when I went to download the new version I was greeted with "Windows installer has stopped working" and my iTunes installation status was at "Publishing product information". I followed the directions listed in the support section to remove try and remove iTunes completely, which worked...almost. I still have a little iTunes icon in my "Uninstall Program" section of control panel. When I go to uninstall it it works perfectly until the very end and it says it now must close because of an unknown error. I am working off of Vista 64-bit and I would like to be able to use my new iPhone 3g.

Dear apple community, I'm having trouble installing ANY apple programs, i.e. Quicktime, iTunes, Application support etc. The installer gets stuck at "Publishing Product information" and eventually gives me an error information. Please help! I desparately need to install quicktime atleast! I tried installing an old version but it says "install apple application support" or something along that matter. When I unrar'd itunes installer and tried installing just the application support, but that too got stuck at "Publishing Product information". This is making life very hard for me. Any help would be awesome!!

Installing itunes 10.5.1 stops at publishing product information
During itunes installation all runs smoothly, but at the last stage (stage: Publishing Product Information) the installation stalls. After 10 minutes or so the following message from itunes appears:
An error has occurred during the installation of assembly "Microsoft.VC80.CRT, type="win32", version= "8.0.50727.6195", publickey token="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", processor Architecture="x86". Please refer help and support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736FD
I have tried deistalling all traces of itmes as per the apple support guidelines - same issue occurs.
Please note I can successfully complete installation of earlier versions of itunes, however they do not load and a warning comes up that states that itunes can't load because the library was created by a newer version of itunes.HRESULT: 0x800736FD

Itunes freezing at 75% during publishing product information. Any solutions?
Using Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. I was using vs.10.2.1 (tried updating before and it would freeze) and since my fiancee just got an iphone4s we needed to update so she could sync it with itunes. I've tried downloading 10.6.1 onto my hd and then install as well as opening itunes and downloading from there and everytime it freezes on the progress bar of publishing product information. It stops right about 75%. Can anybody help me with this issue? I've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and it does the same thing everytime. I've restarted/rebooted and then update and it still freezes. I've checked for updates for my win software and there are none. Can it be a service pack issue? Anything would be helpful. Thanks.
leeamsi, I did find a solution and my iTunes has since worked perfectly and updates like it should. It's been a good while since being aggrivated to no end with it. I'll do my best to remember what I did to fix it. I definitely know why iTunes would not install for me. At one point in time or another I or my loving fiance managed to delete part of the Bonjour file, but I went back and tried uninstalling everything. I uninstalled iTunes, and all Apple related software, and the apple mobile device. However, bonjour was the only program that wouldn't uninstall, I kept getting an error that part of the files were missing. So back to square one, I did a quick google search on how to fix bonjour and I downloaded the original bonjour software from another website and then chose to uninstall it, but tried the repair first. It successfully repaired and restored it so then I rebooted my pc and then uninstalled bonjour, after it did a clean uninstall and everything of apple was removed from the pc. I started the iTunes installation again, It finally installed successfully and has been working well since then. I don't know if bonjour is your problem as well, I just know how much of a headache it can be and it's little things that will make iTunes a living nightmare. The best thing I can tell you is keep going back over this manual like I did until you figure out which program/application it is that may be corrupted or is missing some files. I hope this helps because it's all I had to work with, good luck with your software!
