ITunes installation on Citrix Xenapp windows desktop

Hi,
we need to deploy iTunes to our users who are using a virtualised Windows Desktop (Citrix XenApp). We have created a pakckage to deploy but are having problems when more than one users tries to run itunes. My questions is it possible to run iTunes 11 on a shared virtual desktop? I can provide more details on the setup if required.
Regards
Mike

I've managed to get it installed and working on Windows7 v7000. Didn't have to use any compatibility modes, just downloaded latest version from Apple and clicked run. This is a new install as of 16th Jan 09 with nothing much else installed so it may be a conflict with something else you've installed.
Try doing a windows update to see if it's a bug that's been fixed.
Alternatively, assuming you're not overly attached to your install of W7, you could try reinstalling the whole thing and trying from a clean install.
Can't really give any more help that that I'm afraid.

  • Installation for Citrix XenApp

    Hi,
I'm trying to install  install_flashplayer15x32_mssd_aaa_aih.exe onto a Windows 7 machine in order to use Citrix XenApp.  When running the executable the installer displays a grey box and nothing else:
I've tried updating the Windows Root Certificates, but this hasn't made any difference.  Any idea what I can do to overcome this.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I'm still getting the same problem within Citrix XenApp when attempting to run some videos - for example the one on this page - BBC Sport - Sports Personality: What would you walk 500 miles for?.
When I go to the page, I get the following screen displayed even after using the offline installer:
Then when I use this link, I still get the grey box that I had before.

  • Itunes installation pckg error with Windows Vista

I keep trying to install itunes onto my new computer and keep getting this message, "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows installer package." Anybody else get irritating message? I WANT MY ITUNES! HELP!

Are you logged on as the adminsitrator? Also you could try right clicking on the installer and choosing run as administrator.
If that doesn't help, I wonder if this is a Visual basic script problem, see this Apple article:

  • HT1926 itunes installation rolls back in windows 7

I had iTunes on my PC and I was using it until it failed to read my iphone, so I tried to reinstall it.  The installation of itunes 10.6 for 64 bit starts, but rolls back and aborts after the step labeled "copying files".  This happens again and again.

    Hi,
Try to install acrobat pro using this command : msiexec /i acropro.msi IGNOREAAM=1 /qb
on the location where the MSI file is located.
ex. if the installer is in acrobat folder on C drive then you need to direct the command on the command prompt window to c:\acrobat
    Hope this helps!

  • ITunes 11.1.4 for windows has installation or upgrade problems

anyone knows why iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows cannot be upgraded and it always hit problem with the message "MobileDevice Services cannot be started....." when the upgrade or installation of iTunes 11.1.4 aborted half way with the message.  I tried downloading manually the iTunes 11.1.4 for windoes package from Apple website and tried performing the installation or upgrade manually form my Windows computer.  But it failed everytime with the same error message "MobileDevice Services cannot be started...."  I tried on two different Windows computers (one laptop on Windows Vista and the one Desktop on Windows 7) and they all failed also.   Please help if anyone knows what is wrong.  Thanks.
BTW, after the failed upgrade or installation of iTunes 11.1.4 for windows, I cannot use iTunes anymore with the following error message "This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found.  Re-installing the application may fix this problem."  But reinstalling iTunes 11.1.4 always failed.  So I am in a catch-22 situation.  no way to proceed with iTunes on my Windows computers.

  • Registery Hive on Windows 2008 R2 Citrix XenApp

    Hi all,
User's Registry Hive is not being unloaded when session is disconnected and passes disconnect timeout.
When user's logoff or meet the idle timeout their registry hive is unloaded and their profile is uploaded to the roaming profiles server, then their profile is deleted off the Citrix server. When users disconnect and their session times out, their registry
hive is never unloaded and their profile remains on the Citrix server. Below are the details of the environment:
We are getting error remote desktop service busy and when we manually  go  to servers and unload hive of user profiles it is working fine.
We have around 60 servers on Windows 2008 R2 and Citrix XenApp 6.5
We need to know what is root cause of the issue and is their in  Microsoft Hot fix for windows 2008 r2 that need to  be applied.
i  had checked many  forums and i cannot get a proper answer.

    Hello,
First of all I would recommend you to install both Citrix hotfixes and Microsoft mentioned in this article:
    http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX129229
These are the hotfixes Citrix recommends you to install and they address a lot of different issues.
In regards to your registry hive issue, do your have an antivirus agent installed? If so, that could be the culprit. If not setup correctly the antivirus agent could be scanning the user profiles on the XenApp server, that's usually not recommended
as files sometimes get locked by the antivirus agent and Windows is therefore not able to unload the profile correctly.
However before getting to deep in your troubleshooting, I would reccomend installing the hotfixes in the Citrix article.

  • Can't Open iTunes, installer window appears asking to restart the computer

I have windows Vista-64 bit and I downloaded iTunes 8.0.2. Now once I install the software and use it the first time, it works fine. But after first time whenever I try to open iTunes it takes to the installer window which says "please wait while iTunes configure" and then I get the message "You must restart your system for the configuration changes made to iTunes to take effect. Click Yes to restart now or No if you plan to restart later". If I restart my computer and try to iTunes again, I am again taken to this installer window and the same messages appear. Thus I cannot open Itunes. Unless I uninstall it, and then reinstall it. Then I use it only the first time after installation. But as soon as I exit, i would face the same problem again. Please help

I don't know anything about 64 bit systems and there are differences in the registry. However this problem seems to be due to a problem writing to certain registry keys due to permission issues. HKEYCLASSESROOT\.pcast seems to crop up. this post may help you:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5489263#5489263
But if you use the the event viewer to look at error messages after the problem has occurred you may find the the problem registry key.
If you are running iTunes from a limited user account, temporarily promoting the account might work.
Sometimes you can work round this issue by creating a short cut directly from iTunes.exe. Go to Program Files\iTunes and try starting iTunes.exe. If it opens OK, right click on iTunes.exe and select Send to>>Desktop(Create shortcut). Then use this to open iTunes. It does not fix the underlying problem which is that auto repair is being triggered as the install did not complete fully.

  • Hi, I currently have iTunes version 10.4 loaded on my windows desktop. I'm trying to download version 10.6 but have been unsuccessful. My system saying that current iTunes.msi file is not valid. What can I do?

Hi, I currently have iTunes version 10.4 loaded on my windows desktop. I'm trying to download version 10.6 but have been unsuccessful. My system saying that current iTunes.msi file is not valid. What can I do?

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

    Hellooo Apple Community!
I'm trying to install iTunes on my computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm not sure if iTunes is compatible with my computer operating system because when I try to install it, it says the installation is completed but it says there was an error so it won't let me get itunes! Can someone please tell me if iTunes can be downloaded and installed on "Windows 7 Home Premium" and if so, how?! I need iTunes asap, I have an iphone 4 running ios 6.1.3. Please get back to mee!!
    Thankyou thankyou thankyou!
    Natalie.

I just tried running the Lenovo Hard Drive Quick Test both in normal mode and in safe mode.  Both times it indicated a failed read test on the HDD. The last two tests also failed.  I forget what those tests were called.
I am really beginning to think I have a bad HDD and the problem just happens to be in the reserved partition where my factory system software resides.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally.
If needs be, the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility (MS Installer "Fixit") may be able to help force through the installation.

    Hello ibebry
Try using the Software Update on your iPhone by going to Settings > General > Software Update. One thing to keep in mind if you are trying it on the computer is to make sure that you are not pressing any keys down when checking for updates as that may bring up a pop up window to find the update file.

I am a Window XP user and currently using IE 8. After I update your iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows XP, my PC is cannot open the i-Tunes and has a problem of "R604" of run C runtime Library. Please Help!!!

    Hello n9ming29,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

Reboot your computer, then download and install the latest version of iTunes.
