  • ITunes Installation Problems!

I have tried several times to re-install iTunes over the past several weeks. The problem seemed to start when I move the iTunes folder to another external drive. (Due to disk space.) Since that time I've been unable to uninstall and re-install the software.
The QuickTime software seemed to be the problem at first but is working fine now.
The error messages I get now are: "Error 1714. The older version of iTunes can't be removed. Contact your technical support group."
Which is then followed by another error message: "Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm)or MSDN for more information."
I can't seem to find a solution to this problem, which means my iPods can't be updated on the computer that I prefer to use.
    Please Advise!

okay, let's try enlisting some additional technical help:
let's try getting a installer log to someone who can interpret installer logs.
Start menu -> Run... In the text field of the dialog that comes up, type in "cmd" and hit return.
In the command prompt dialog that comes up, find the iTunes installer on your desktop and drag it to this window. Then on the same line type in a space and then the following:
    /Verbose"c:\log.txt" /V"ENABLE_QTLOGGING=TRUE"
There is no space between the e in Verbose and the double quote ("). There is no space between the V"Enable...
    Hit return.
The installer will create two log files:
    C:\log.txt and C:\qt.log
Find those files and send them to this email address Put the URL to this discussion thread into the email, so that the person who gets it has some context. Let them know the version of itunes you’re trying to install, too … in general, give as much info as you can.

  • Strange iTunes Installer Problem, Need Serious Help

I just recently had no choice but to do a destructive recovery of my pc. I am now re-downloading all of my old software and I got to iTunes. I can download the installer just fine. But when I try to run the installer, after opening it and clicking run, I get the hour glass for about 40 seconds, then I get "iTunes Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." iTunes is a necessity for me, so can someone please help me?

But when I try to run the installer, after opening it and clicking run, I get the hour glass for about 40 seconds, then I get "iTunes Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Yes, that's quite a rare one conor. It seems to be associated with "silent" installer failures, and the "invalid signature" and "unknown publisher" error messages. In those cases, most often the installers seem to have been getting damaged during the download to the PC.
Checking on simpler possibilities first. Have you been downloading the installer from the Apple website?
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If so, does it make any difference if you do the download with (say) Firefox rather than IE (or vice versa)?

  • Win XP iTunes installation problems

    Please please help!
I've tried everything and I'm going to start pulling out my hair shortly!
I've just purchased an iPod Touch for me and a nano for my girlfriend - but we can't use them as iTunes won't install.
I've installed iTunes as per normal - it created a shortcut on my desk top but then when clicking on it for the first time it pops up the following message:
*iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.*
*We are sorry for the inconvenience.*
This message has the Send Error Report option, which I click - it takes me to Microsofts Error reporting page which gives me the following details:
    *Download updates for iTunes*
*This problem was caused by iTunes. iTunes was created by Apple Inc..*
    Solution
*A newer version of iTunes is available for download that will address this problem. Apple Inc. recommends updating to the latest version of iTunes to take advantage of security and stability improvements.*
This information is incorrect. I have iTunes 7.5.
I cannot justify the fact that I can't use these two new toys because Apples software won't install .
Please help me! Back at work tomorrow and the commute minus music will be hellish.
    Jamie

I have done a system restore as I think I ruined something prior to this original question.. I now have the classic error:
*The folder iTunes cannot be found or created*
I had previously tried other forums to help fix my issue but alas the problem I previously had happened.
Thus I am back at The iTunes folder problem.
could someone please point me toward a quick solution?
    Thanks!!!

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 80073712, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?)

  • Itunes Installation Problem

Every time I try to install the new ITunes for Windows 7 64 bit (11.4.0.18), installation progresses to a certain point and then it crashes my internet connection.  My U-verse router doesn't use a PPoE connection, which the installation program appears to be attempting. The last successful update was August 15, 2014.

I checked for the driver, and don't have it. How do I get it?
    hi Tucker!
nope, that's okay. if you don't have
    b any
version of that particular driver on your system, then you're not suffering from the "standard" blue screening problem that was hitting 5.0.0.35 installs. with any luck, this was just an isolated incident.
    is your full error message:
The instuction at "0x10001040" referenced memory at "0x10001040". The memory could not be "read"
if so, this appears to be another sign of a broken QT. the following technique worked for the last person to report this problem:
b noir, "itunes has encountered a problem. help please?" #8, 04:10pm Sep 18, 2005 CDT
if you were getting a different error, could you post back to give us some precise details on the message? at any rate, keep us posted on your progress.

  • ITunes Installation Problem (it won't install!)

I'm trying to install iTunes onto my computer, and I'm getting through all of the steps until the step "Installation Type." At that step iTunes is greyed out and the action is "skip." It will not let me select it, and then when I try to move forward and install it says "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install."
    Please help me.
    Thanks.

Hi Sheparro, I might have good news for you. Had EXACTLY the same problem. My iTunes (7.0.1) was cutting off when playing CDs, so I decided to reinstall it. Deleted all iTunes related files (via spotlight), then attempted to install the downloaded 7.x version afresh. No way. Tried the original iLife disc, still no way; gave the same reply as you got. Then I fished for more itunes files on my system and found three in the Receipts folder (located within the Library folder): itunesX.pkg, itunesphonedriver.pkg, itunesx.pkg. I moved these to the trash and then tried installing from the iLife CD again. Presto! It worked! Its the 6.0.2 version, but no problem. I suspect the upgrade (7.x) has some unfixed bugs. Good luck!

  • ITunes installation problem in Windows 7 32 bit

    Hi,
I just downloaded iTunes into my Toshiba laptop with OS Windows 7 (32 bit). When I try to open iTunes, it just says Microsoft detected a problem while opening iTunes and asks for an error report to be sent.
    Any idea?

    Hi,
Did you mean that the way to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 7 SP1? Firstly, if you need to upgrade IE 8 to IE9, 10, 11, you do need to upgrade Windows 7 to SP1.
To upgrade system, you can adapt to check Windows update, then download and install the SP package.
You can also choose to install the SP 1 package manually. Please access to the link below to downlaod Windows 7 Sp 1 package:

  • ITunes installation problem, like so many others apparently

I tried to install iTunes but got an error message about ISScript being too old. I reinstalled versions 7, 8, & 9 from the InstallShield website and tried again. Same thing. I then tried the steps listed on http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976 but no luck there either. On the first step, "Completely Remove iTunes and Quicktime," I got an error during the Add/Remove of iTunes about some string not found. Being tired of the whole mess at this point, I didn't record the exact error message, but selected what seemed to be the best option. I think it was something like "go ahead and completely remove the application." Anyway, I got another "string name not found" error. End result, I can't even remove whatever part of iTunes has been installed so that I can try and start over.
    Help?

I have the same problem. Any solutions anyone?

  • Itunes installation problem I get the error IXP577 file could not be found.

I keep getting this error, I get it if I try to install the new version of Itunes, or if I try and delete the version already on my computer. This is my personal laptop and have administative access to everything on here thru windows
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package iTunes64.msi in the box below.
    C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP577.TMP\
Please help, I have been trying for months to get this work!

may i suggest opening the files in Olymous Viewer 3  and exporting them (you can do some editing there if you wish or not) asTIFF files. After that you can import the new files into LR. LR seems to like tiiff more than .orf files
The advantage to using OV3 is that it seems to do a much better job converting RAW EM1 files. Colors are more accurate ( my red flower pot turned orange when loaded directly into lightroom)
. The tiff files just LOOK better in LR  after the conversion . there is a youtube on this subject and when i tried it myself i was impressed

  • Different itunes installation problem

When I try to download iTunes or Quicktime (latest version) a window pops up that says :
    "Could not open key:
HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\QuickTimePlayerLib.QuickTimePlayerApp\CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."
and I dont know how to fix this or who to call to fix this.

That's only half the solution. You have to go into regedt32, navigate to the problem key, right click on Permissions, click Advanced, then click on the Owner tab and make yourself the owner. Then when you set the permissions to Administrators for Full Control they will be saved and you'll get past this problem. You might have other keys with the same problem and you have to follow the same steps.

  • Itunes Installation Problems!! Please help!!!

I recently bought an Ipod Nano, but it is not registering on my Itunes. I have tried to dowload Itunes 7 but everytime I do, it says there is an error with "Stopping Services." I have no idea what this means, or how to correct it. Can anybody please help me?

    Version 7.0.2.16
okay. with that message on earlier versions (itunes 7.0.0.70 and 7.0.1.8), some folks had some success with pgfpdwife's technique in the following post:
pgfpdwife: Re: Could not open key HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classic\Quicktime.Quicktime\
note carefully that the technique involves a registry edit. be sure to make a backup of any keys you edit. if you're unfamiliar with your registry or registry editing, head to your XP help and support, do a search on registry, and read through the articles that come up.
There are also some instructions on how to back up registry keys in the following document:
Error 1406 or 1402 appears when you install iTunes or QuickTime for Windows
is that of any help with your 7.0.2.16 version of this?

  • Can anyone help? Itunes installation problem with my ipod shuffle.

    Hello
I've just bought an ipod shuffle and to get it up and running I need to install itunes 10 (I have a mac with itunes 9) . My computer won't allow me to do this, everytime I click on the itunes icon it says 'Couldn't open "Install iTunes.pkg". This package type requires Mac OS X 10.5.
    Thanks

iTunes version 10 is not compatible with Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.x).  You'll need to upgrade your system to Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) before you can install this version of iTunes, which is required for you to be able to sync and use your Shuffle.
You can still purchase Leopard from different stores online.
