ITunes Installer for Vista PC

I downloaded iTunes 10.6 for installation on a Vista PC.  When installing I got error saying I needed a 64 bit installer.  I don't see an installation option for 64 bit installer.  Can anyone help?

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 80072712, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?)

  • Where can I find the iTunes installer for Windows XP 64 bit?

I am using windows XP SP3, 64 bit but cant find the iTunes 10.5 installer for the same? The iTunes64Setup.exe says that its only supported for Vista. Any way to get this working?
    Appreciate the help.

I wonder if you can use the regular 32-bit installer. Even on 64-bit machines the iTunes application is still 32-bit so there is no real difference in what gets installed.
    System requirements:
    Windows Software
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, or 32-bit editions of Windows 7
64-bit editions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
Note it doesn't make a distinction between 32-bit and 64-bit versions of XP, simply states SP2 or later.

  • ITunes installer for v.9.0.2.25 refuses to run om my system

When I try to update/install to v. 9.0.2.25 on Windows XP I repeatedly get the following error message:'There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this installer to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.' I click OK then the install rolls back and the following appears: The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.
Based on other posts I tried the following:
    1. Uninstalled previous version of iTunes.
    2. Downloaded installer from various sources in case it is corrupted
    3. Turned all firewall/antiviral software off
    NOTHING HELPS!!!!
    Now I am without iTunes.
Also the reason for trying to update was to fix another problem that started a few days ago. Simply could not connect to the iTunes store anymore. Error code 11556 I think. There's a mention of this in another post but nothing they suggested works.

When I tried to uninstall the Apple Software Update, I got the error message 'There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.'
With that one, Barb, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Now run the utility ("Start > All programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any *Apple Software Update* entries and click "Remove". Quit out of CleanUp.
Are you able to continue with the rest of the uninstalls now?

  • Can you make the installer for Vista 64bit as well?

It shouldn't be too hard to make the installer available for Windows Vista 64 bit as well, should it? Or is there a special reason Scout is Windows 7 and >?
I think there's still a lot of people  working on an old Vista machine (like me) who don't really want to upgrade just yet for 1 program?

    Hi RmdB2,
Scout itself is not 32-bit compatible, it is not an installer limitation. Most OS's today are 64-bit and have been available for many years now.
We totally understand your situation but not upgrading to 64-bit will probably prevent you from enjoying other tools pretty soon.

  • 10.5 Installation for Vista, Service Pack 2

My first try on downloading the software was unsuccessful, it downloaded but would not install or open ITunes. I was unable to uninstall it from the Control Panel. After reading a few other posts I came up with a resolution that worked for my computer.
    Click the start Icon.
In the search field type: msconfig
When the System Configuration tab opens select: Startup. Disable ITunes, Apply and close.
Open the Control Panel and Uninstall all the Apple Software: Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update, Apple Application, ITunes and Quick Time.
Return to www.apple.com, Download ITunes software.
    **NOTES**
    - All the contents of my IPhone recovered and installed.
    - When ITunes ask whether to Download only or Download and Install. Select Download and Install, when I tried Download Only, my computer restarted after the installation and I got a recover error.

    Hi,
Since there is only Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2. I assume you are talking about the Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2.
    1. Based on my experience, there is no need to stop the exchange services. However, you can exit any antivirus programs and stop non-essential services/programs on the server.
    2. In general, it takes about 30 minutes. It depends on your exchange environment.
In addition, if I misunderstood anything, please feel free to let me know.
If you have any other questions related to Exchange, you'd better ask in Exchange forum below for professsional assistance:

  • Problems with 64 version itunes 9 for vista

When itunes 8 upgraded to 9, my entire system froze. When I try to uninstall itunes, I get the error message "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "iTunes64.msi" in the box below."
The box has the two following suggestions:
    C:\Users\Joe\AppData\Local\Apple\Apple Software Update\
    C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\Installer Cache\iTunes 9.0.1.8\
Neither path works, and I cannot locate iTunes64.msi on any of my drives.
The problem is that I cannot uninstall the version of itunes I already have, and no new versions can be installed until the previous one is uninstalled.
I have all current updates. I have no idea what to do from this point.

  • ITunes installation for 11.1.4 failed, tried multiple other ways to install/repair...still not working (cannot open)

I got an error message after trying to upgrade to the latest version of iTunes. I have tried installing via Apple Download (originally did this and it didn't work either of the times I tried), manually tried installing/repairing (gave error message that it couldn't open when it finished), from the apple site (tried repairing and gave exact same error message as manual update), and uninstalled and then reinstalled (took a long time on installing the startup section of the reparing...pretty sure that's where the error is in the update) followed with a restart of my computer...still same error message. If anyone knows how to fix this or if Apple could fix this, that would be great. Error messages displayed:

I updated tonight and ran into two very similar errors.
The first error is your same 127 error and the other error looks like this -
    I'm on Windows 8.1
As for what I did, I uninstalled then reinstalled. Same thing. Then I uninstalled everything Apple related on my PC then reinstalled Quicktime then iTunes. Same thing. Then I uninstalled everyting Apple related again then installed iTunes. Same thing.
Hopefully it will be patched soon.

  • ITunes Installation for iPhone

Perhaps someone else has run into this issue. I had to deinstall my iTunes application and now that I have successfully reinstalled iTunes, it doesn't recognize the iPhone. I get a pop-up message that tells me to deinstall and reinstall iTunes...which I have done twice now to now avail. In the past, all I had to do was connect my iPhone for it to be recognized, but something must have changed in the latest version of iTunes. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

when you uninatall itunes there are some other programs you also have to uninstall before you can reinstall a new copy of itunes - they have to be done in a specific order

IF your upgrading from 32 to 64 then you have to do a clean install. So backup your files because the install will erase everything.

  • 64 bit itunes installer

Hi I'm trying to install Itunes on my new computer and it will not allow me to install until I install the 64 bit itunes installer. Where do I get this?

I have just instaled a fresh copy of windows xp 64bit
There is no iTunes installer for XP64.
You will need to find instructions on the internet (not at Apple) to find out how to install the Vista 64 bit version of iTunes on XP64.

  • How To Download 32 Bit PE10 for Vista 64 Bit PC?

I purchased a bundled Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 & Premiere Elements 10.  When attempting to install Premiere Elements 10 I received an error stating..
This installer does not support 64 Bit Windows XP or Vista.  If you are installing from discs pelase remove ths disk and insert disk #1.  If you are not installing from disk please download the 32-bit version of Premiere Elements 10.
I have only one disk in the bundle for Windows (the other is for the MAC OS)  Where/How can I download Premiere Elements 10 or a 64 bit installer for Vista for the disk I have.  I'm guessing my serial numbers are only valid for PE10.
    Thank you.

Thank you both B. Hunt and J. Smith for the time and thought spent on my issue.   I feel the root cause of my issue is described in my post #4 through the
    Adobe support link: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/kb/cannot-install-premiere-el ements-10.html
which describes the the 64bit installer not working on 64 bit XP or bit 64bit Vista PCs.  The support article further describes how to download a 32 bit version of Premier Elements 10 and install on my 64 bit Vista machine.
While the OEM version of the software seems to be a contributor to the confusion and lacking multiple discs, the support article did not suggest that it was a packaging/bundling issue, but more so an incompatibility of operating systems and software installers.   I agree that the bait and switch by the seller (picture one thing and ship another) didn't help and I will be taking it up with them (and Amazon).  That said, not seeking to pay list price for cars, appliances, or software isn't unethical, switching or not disclosing what one is selling however is unethical.
I followed the instructions in the Adobe support post and the 32 installer worked on my 64 bit Vista machine.  I stopped just short of entering the license code as I plan to upgrade to Windows 7 64bit in order to use the 64bit version of the PE10 - which I feel would perform faster.  I'd expect that the installer would work as it did for Photoshop Elements 10 on the same OEM bundle.  My fallback position is to run the 32 bit version on the Win7 64bit machine after I upgrade.
Finally, I'm a hobbyist, just looking to create a DVD capturing a recent family reunion.  That was my objective and I'm closer to achieving it as a result of Adobe Support and your contributions.  Thank you.

Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

  • HT1923 After uninstalling and reinstalling itunes according to the instructions for Vista, I do not have QuickTime in my programs.  Am I supposed to install QuickTime separately?  Isnt it supposed to install with Itunes automatically?

After uninstalling and reinstalling itues according to instructions for Vista, QuickTime doesn't appear in my programs, I don't seem to have it anywhere,  Isn't QuickTime supposed to be part of the Itunes installation?  Is the absence of it why no ipod will function correctly for me?

Let's first try something relatively simple. Download and save a 64-bit version of the iTunes installer (iTunes64Setup.exe) to your hard drive. (Don't run the install on line.)
Now try right-clicking the installer file and selecting "Run as administrator".
Does that get you past the privileges errors?

  • ITunes update installer for 11.e doesn't complete update

I have had iTunes installed for several years. For update 11.3 the auto-update does not complete the update.  "errors acurred while installing the update". I also can't install iTunes 11.3 from the Apple store, I get error 2324.

Had the same issue on Windows 8.1(x64)  8(x64) 7(x64) and Vista(x86) with the latest iTunes. Removing and Reinstalling all Apple applications did not solve it. After installation and starting iTunes i would just get the end user agreement and then nothing but iTunes.exe process is running as background process without the GUI being displayed. I did notice that after an hour or 2 iTunes would then be open but would immediately freeze when connecting my iPad.
Changed the properties of running iTunes.exe as admin in Win7 compatibilty mode.
So launch iTunes and wait till it eventually opens, do not connect your iOS device right away, but sign in with your Apple ID first.
Open preferences (iTunes seemed to freeze again but preferences window popped up after a couple minutes)
    Unchecked the automatic sync.
After doing that I have been able to connect my iPad which I had already upgraded to iOS7 over the air. Which was risky as I do not have a MAC and iTunes is the only way to perform a restore if the upgrade would have failed.
But still 11.1 seems to be very unstable on Windows, I can imagine that Apple will focus on sorting the bugs in iOS7 for their own devices first but hope they will investigate the issue and come up with a solution later on, as I do think a substantial amount of iTunes for Windows users buy their Music through iTunes and it would not be wise of Apple to leave them in the dark.
