Itunes installer won't even launch

Have downloaded installer twice now. Double-clicking icon results in... NOTHING, no process in Task Manager, no event in management log, nothing.
Any ideas?

Well, I figured it out. It was indeed the CDs I had created. Turns out, that the
download (and yes, it was a .zip file not an ISO as I had said previously)
has characteristics such that it can only be properly burned to CD with
certain settings. In NERO, I had to select Mode 2 rather than Mode 1 and
ISO9660 standard isn't comatible either.
I had just burned the uncompressed zip images to CD so I could easily take
them to the test server and in so doing, had made changes to the format or
filenames such that the installer couldn't run. Pretty crazy because I've
copied tons of stuff to CD before, but only now have I ever encountered this
sort of situation. I couldn't even copy back from the CD to the hard
drive because the damage had already been done.
I hope the other poor souls who did what I do read this before they pull their hair out. Thanks for everyone's comments.

  • Oracle 9i Installer Won't Even Launch??

Hi, I have a brand new installation of Windows 2000 Server with SP 3 on a P-II 366 with 256 megs ram. When I try to run setup.exe on CD 1, I get the following error right away:
"The Java Runtime Environment was not found at c:\docume~1\admini~1\locals~1\temp\orainstall\jre\bin\jrew.exe. Hence, the Oracle Universal Installer cannot be run. Please visit http://www.javasoft.com and install JRE version 1.1.7 or greater and try again."
I've tried downloading and installing the latest (and even older) versions of JRE. Nothing works. Does anyone know the fix for this? Why won't this install under Windows 2000??? Thanks in advance.

  • Installed 4.9... now iTunes won't even launch

Okay.... here it is: I downloaded and installed 4.9 and now when I click on the iTunes shortcut on my desktop, iTunes won't even launch. In addition, my laptop won't even shut down properly now. I get a bizarre error message and it hangs for 4 or 5 minutes (despite the fact that I try to End Program over and over again). I have had to take the battery out to shut it down because of all this. More important, I can't access my iTunes!
    thanks,
    P.

Try using the "Clean' method for uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes. See Da Gohpa's link, toonz' link, as well as all the related links and activities provided below.
You may first want to try a “Repair Install”:
    - Start menu -> Settings -> Control Panels -> Add or Remove Programs
    - Select iTunes, Select Change/Remove button, Select "Repair", Click OK.
If that does not work, then read all the below and apply it to your situation:

b Uninstalling iTunes will not erase your music files,
or the two meta-data files iTunes uses to store your music info files (iTunes 4 Music Library.itl & iTunes Music Library.xml). However, it is
    i always
a prudent idea to have backups of your music files on some external source (CD, DVD or External Hard Drive).
b Prior to implementing the info in the links above,
close ALL running programs. In addition, you
    b should
    i temporarily
disable any TSR programs like firewalls, virus scanners, spy sweepers and the like. You will need to disable them both before uninstalling ANY software and/or before installing ANY software. Most of these TSR programs have System Tray Icons (usually located in the lower-right corner of your XP screen), that allow for an ‘exit’ or ‘quit’ or ‘shutdown’. Usually a single right-click on the icon will bring up a selection menu.
These TSR programs can impede installation of some software or create conflicts later on during operation (or lack of operation) Some anecdotal reports suggest that iTunes 4.8 & 4.9 are affected. Based on the amount of success by folks here who have tried the Clean Install, this seems to be a good solution for a variety of iTunes operational ‘glitches’
Please note that your TSR programs will all restart upon reboot. You will not be left unprotected. This also means that you need to remember to disable them when reinstalling iTunes after rebooting.
    b Also:
You may still need to turn off the 'Fast User Switching' even if no one else is using the computer.
==>Start/Control Panel/User Accounts/Change the way users log on and off/ ==> remove the check mark from FUS.

Running Lightroom 6 on Windows machine (after having upgraded from LR5... While attempting to add or change music in the Slideshow module, LR unexpectedly quits.  After several attempts at this, LR6 won't even launch properly...shows the splash screen but that's it.  The program is buggy...need an update/revision quickly!!

If you're on Windows, check out a free program called Audacity--it's fantastic.  With Audacity the process of converting a 48.000 kHz to 44.100 kHz is as simply as opening, changing the sample rate, and then exporting again, as an MP3.

  • ISync won't even launch- MacBook

    I just got a lovely Macbook 17"
It's perfect but for one thing- I can't get my Palm Zire 31 to sync with the macbook, and I suspect this has something to do with the fact that iSync won't even launch. It bounces a few times, and then nothing when I attempt to launch it. I can see the iSync menu but clicking it to drop-down is useless. I have to force quit it.
    Please help!

You must reinstall iSync using Pacifist and an original Mac OS X 10.4 Install or Upgrade DVD. To do so, download Pacifist:
    http://www.charlessoft.com
Then, launch Pacifist and insert your Mac OS X 10.4.2 Install DVD. Wait for it to mount, then press the Open Mac OS X Install packages button. It will begin loading the Essentials.mpkg files.
Find the Contents of Essential.pkg package, and click on the triangle to open it. Click on the triangle in front of the Applications folder, and it will open to reveal a number of files, including the iSync.app file. Select the iSync.app file and press the install button.
You will then have to reapply the latest Mac OS X 10.4.7 Combo update package for your intel-based MacBook Pro in order to update iSync 2 to version 2.3. You will find that package here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxupdate1047combointel.html

    Hi,
I'm trying to use X11 tools for the 1st time since installing Leopard. It won't even launch, it seems to try to launch, (i see it on the dock) but then it just closes back down. I need to use this app, i'm trying to convert a word doc into a pdf.
    any ideas?,
    cheers everyone,

    HI,
*"i'm trying to convert a word doc into a pdf."*
Try opening the Word document. Then File/Print. In the dialog box that opens, bottom left side click PDF/Save as PDF. I'm not certain this will work, but you can try.

  • Premiere CS6 in Mac installer won't even open

I've installed Premiere CS6 before with the same system (Mac OS X 10.8.2) and the same installer, then uninstalled it with the adobe's uninstaller (provided by Premiere itself). Now when I try to install it again, the installer won't even start - I double click installer, an animation of Mac shows it has opened, however, nothing happens. No windows appear, nothing, not even an error or any warning. Tried using clean up tool, only shows Photoshop in it, nothing related to Premiere.
The Premiere is the Pro version, not Element.
My MacBook is the lastest Pro Retina 15 inch base model.
Please help I'm so sick and tired of Final Cut Pro's autosaves it fails me half of the time... I really need Premiere...
Edit: BTW I've already tried rebooting and deleting the previous Premiere user files. No luck.

The fact that you don't have any install logs would seem to indicate that you were not able to click on the install button.  You will likely find the failure in the PDApp.log referenced in the Analyze the Creative Suite 5, CS5.5, or CS6 PDapp log - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html#main_Analy ze_the_Creative_Suite_5_PDapp_log section.

I am trying to install the latest version of itunes on my new laptop and the installer won't run.  It is a samsung sereis 7 notebook running Windows 7.
I have downloaded itunes multiple times and tried running as administrator.  I do not get any error, and occasionally a progress bar will flash up on screen for a couple of seconds but then nothing happens.  Other times I don't even get the progress bar, just nothing happens when I try to open the installer.
Would appreciate any help with this problem.  Its driving me crazy not being able to add new music to my ipod!

  • Time Machine won't even launch: "Error code -43"

Thwarted from the outset, I can't even launch the app.
    Any clues?

    Hi All
I also cannot launch Time Machine (posted a separate thread here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1244151&tstart=0 but no replies there yet)
I have a Journaled HFS+ external drive attached, I have turned TM on in the prefs and it has completed a number of backups. The 'backupdb' folder is visible on the backup drive.
However, I cannot get the application to launch, no matter what - click on the dock icon, click on the icon in apps, whatever. The dock icon does not even bounce. There is no response.
I want my over the top galactic animation too!
Anyone seen this happen or know why it might?

  • ITunes installer won't recognize QuickTime

Hello - I've been using various version of iTunes for the last 2 years. With the upgrade to 7.0.2 though, the installer will not recognize my QuickTime install. I've followed the various sets of instructions on the FAQ, most recently just completed rebooting the the selective msconfig settings. QuickTime IS running on my machine - I've opened it up to make sure the it's installation is still valid. Any suggestions welcome.
    iTunes installer steps:
    1. Starting QuickTime installation...
    2. Gathering QuickTime information...
    3. An error has occured
3.1 Popup: The installation of QuickTime did not complete successfully. iTunes requires QuickTime.
    Many thanks.

Using Chrome on my 2008 MacBook Pro (2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, OS X Lion 10.7.5 [11G63]).
If using latest version of Chrome which eliminates access of the QT Plugin, then switch to Safari or download the trailers or trailer URL for direct playback in the QT X or QT 7 player.

  • Please Help - iTunes installer won't run on double-click

I am facing a reload of Win 7 x64 tonight if I don't get this fixed. When I run the installer all it does is create a temp folder and put an .msi in there. Nothing else happens. No errors or messages, no hung processes. nothing.
I've completely uninstalled itunes and every apple product. I've tried QuickTime independently and it does the same thing. The Windows installer is clean with no Apple entries. I initially got the message "itunes + QuickTime have an invalid signature" when trying to upgrade from 9.1 to 9.2 which prompted me to completely remove everything. My iPhone4 is coming Thursday so I've got to get this working!!
    thanks all.

I had this same problem. I followed the instructions on how to use MSCONFIG listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1275
In my case, iTunes & Quicktime were already uninstalled, so I just skipped the step about checking "qtask" & "iTunes Helper."
I used MSCONFIG to re-boot in selective start up mode. Then, I fully shutdown Virus protection. The iTunes installer ran after doing this.

  • I run Windows 7 and the newest version (10.6) of iTunes will not install. The installer won't even begin, and when I run the Apple Software update, it tells me that iCloud and iTunes have invalid signature.

When I run the Apple Software update, it tells me that iCloud and iTunes have invalid signature and will not be downloaded. When I DL iTunes64setup.exe, the program will not start (there's a bar that flashes but nothing actually begins). I've done everything short of reinstalling Windows to fix this (system resore, unistalling all Apple products, taking down firewall, running Windows FixIt - which either won't find the problem or gives me an error saying that the troubleshooter cannot be downloaded at this time, going into the security features to allow programs without valid signatures, trying to install earlier versions of iTunes). It all started when I downloaded the Decemberists new album on my iPhone, and it wasn't downloading it properly so I connected it to my Dell, but some songs still wouldn't DL - also, the newest OS for my iPhone still won't install via WiFi - and so I uninstalled iTunes first, but nothing is helping. And I don't have any security issues (Norton has checked). Any ideas? I'm at my wit's end after 3 days of this. Thank you.

Ok, so after like 4 days of going through all these different issues, I figured out that several programs weren't downloading, and it was an issue with my wireless connectivity messing up the digital signatures, so if you plug in your comp to the modem and delete your temp files, it should start to work!

  • Installed Mavericks and several apps won't even launch

I installed Mavericks in my MacBook Pro and now several apps (Calendar, Maps, Photo Boot, App Store, etc) won't launch. There's no error pop up. The icons on the dock just bounce a few times and stop.
    Help, please.

I haven't had this problem but people on this discussion have reported that reinstalling Mavericks (over your current installation) will fix this.
