Itunes intalling on Dell...trouble with 8.2.1

Have been using I tunes forever and when I updated from 7.6 to 8.2.1 on my Dell Laptop has been nothing but grief. No matter how many times I reboot, reinstall, un install, or even try to re install 7.6 I always get the message cant find Itunes folder necessary for operation of I tunes. The normal default location for this folder is My Music folder. It has been installed there and Ihave tried to continue to install it there. Its one of those "Look in there you stupid computer"...sorry for being synical but its just so frustrating when I have a better than average understanding of computers. HELP!!!

Try this - it has helped several others:
Press *and hold* the shift key while starting iTunes. When prompted, choose an existing library and browse to the Music/iTunes folder and choose the iTunesLibrary.ITL file there.

    Did you already try what bnoir suggested in this post about error 0x800736FD:
    These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
    Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
    If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 800736FD, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?

    Example-CD : "Tracy Chapman , Telling stories" is not able to import . I have more such negative cases. But in other cases it works fine and the sound is great.
    The firmware at the inbuild CD/DVD DS-6E2SH is the latest version.

    I don't no about virtuel drives like you mententioned. In the mean time I have rebooted the XPS and run again the iTunes diagnostics. I think the back - chance in the registry was not ready to use.  Now there are another results. They are the same in case of a running CD or a not running CD. The difference in total is like before. It takes more time that iTunes reads the (bad) CD and at the there is no good sound. In both cases ( running or not running CD) iTunes diagnostics gives as a result :

    I have just tried to uninstall all USB-drivers, and reinstall them.. Still no luck

  • My iTunes Library is having trouble with a NAS on power schedule

    Hey everybody,
    This problem is going to be difficult to translate into words.. here goes..
    I have a mac, a NAS box, and Apple TV. Everything is hardwired wired to a gigabit LAN.
    I have itunes on my mac, with itunes manageing my content on the macs internal HDD (so I can drag and drop music into itunes and itunes sorts it out by its self, also so I can just listen to music whenever).
    The tricky part is... I have a NAS box with all my movies (music is local on my mac) that is on a power saving schedule. All of this content has gone though iFlicks (this program rocks!) and is in itunes format. While holing "option" I drag and drop my movie content into itunes. Allowing this content to stay in its current location BUT being added to my itunes library AND still letting itunes do its automatic thing when I drag and drop to add music.
    The reason the NAS is on power saving is I work during the day and only watch content at night so why not save the very little amount of power it would use and not leave the HDD spinning all day everyday.
    Now this where everything turns bad. Its not uncommon for me to get up early and listen to music or come home for lunch and fire on some tunes. It seems that when the NAS is off and I open itunes to play some music somehow itunes looks for the movies in its library, which it cant find because the NAS is off. Soooo itunes puts a little "!" next to the movie it cant find, and progresses through the movie collection making all of my content unavaliable through my apple tv when I do sit down to watch something regardless of the NAS now being on and the content definatly being there.
    The solution I have found to this problem is to select all of my movies and tv shows delete them and then re-add them as I have explained (takes about 15mins to add everything, this is only with a small 3% used of my 6TB avaliable)
    Am I missing a tick box for itunes to recheck that the content it didnt find is definatly not there? Or is there some smart work around? Whats the go?

  • TS4085 I have Airplay on my Dell laptop with itunes.  When I connect to my Denon RCD-N7 they stay connected for about 30 mins.  Then connection is lost.

    I have itunes on my Dell laptop with airplay.  Which is connected to my ipad2 and Denon RCD-n7.  When I stream music from my Dell to the Denon using Airplay.  It stays connected for about 30 mins then it disconnects..  I get a notice on itunes that it has lost connection with the Denon. How can I stop it from disconnecting?

    I have a dell laptop with itunes and air play disconnects after about 30 minutes of streaming to apple tv as remote speakers. I have to forcibly restart the device. if I use the menu option to turn and off the airplay option it still does not work. Network connection is fine since other devices do not lose connection.     I'm having trouble with iTunes synching and accessing the iTunes store.   When synching, the process tops at the back up stage, freezes and I can't close the iTunes window, need to ctrl alt del.   When trying to access the store, the progress bar stops halfway.   I've googled heaps and tried most of the standard answers - unistall, reinstall, etc, now looking for some help please.
    This has only started a few weeks back, after working smoothly for the 2 years of owning the iPhone 3gs.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated, it's getting realy frustrating.

  • I have been having a lot of trouble with the latest itunes update and my ipod classic 80Gb i.e. being unable to sync songs, but now i have no files at all on my ipod, it is completely blank when i view it from my computer. I need help, please, anybody.

    As it says above, i have been having a lot f trouble with my ipod classic and the latest itunes update, i was unable to sync songs or anything to it and have tried every conceivable 'fix' i could find. i have run an itunes diagnostic and the results are posted below. a major problem is that when i try and view my ipod through my computer it displays nothing at all on the ipod, no files or anything, this may be the problem but i have no idea how it has happened or how i could resolve it.

    Here is what worked for me:
      My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

  • I have an Ipod Touch (4th Gen) and I am having troubles with my downloads from purchasing music from the Ipod. On my downloads icon in the Itunes Store (on Ipod) there is a symbol of how many songs I still have waiting to download, but they wont download.

    I have been having troubles with this for months and am extremly tired of not being able to download my songs. I bought these songs off of Itunes as well, so I really hope i can retrieve them. I do not know where to find a personal apple support person yet, does anyone know where to find one on the website?

  • Trouble with 3 ATV to connect to iTunes in one WiFi / LAN

    I've trouble with my ATVs in my network. I have 1 3Gen. ATV connected via LAN to iTunes on iMac and 2 2Gen. ATVs via WiFi. The problem I am facing is, if I am connected with two of them to my iTunes Library the third can't even the others ( which have been conneted) are off. If I restart iTunes, I can connect again two of them and the third (doesn't matter which one) cannot. So I can circle arround which one gets connected but it is not very satisfying. 
    My network is setup on two Airport express and a TC 2Gen to cover the whole house. As I stated above, the ATV 3Gen is connected via Lan, and the other two via WLAN?
    Any idea what I've made wrong, or what to do to find the problem?

    Until the MacBook Air was released and supported in 10.5, the Mac did not consider USB to be a valid Networking Protocol. So set the Mac with USB solutions aside.
    To connect computer-to-computer, you typically need to be using an Ethernet crossover cable. Assigning the same address to two Ethernet devices is never the solution -- it gives a Network Conflict, just as you said.
    If your Windows box has some mechanism for Sharing its WiFi connection over Ethernet, you would have to follow its rules. Whether that means Manually assigning an Ethernet Address in the same range or the PC will provide the Address, I do not know.
    Best success may be running an Ethernet cable to your Wired/Wireless Base Station, or using a "gaming adapter" (Ethernet-to-Wireless no drivers required) connected to the Mac's Ethernet port to give it WiFi access. What is your Base Station {Cable, DSL, FIOS, Other} ? Ethernet cables can be up to 100 meters (an American Football Field). Often the Base Station can be moved closer for more convenience.

    Okay i bought a dell pc with windows 8 (big mistake) i downloaded itunes and from my external hard drive, right clicked a movie file (in ipad format, because this worked in vista on my old laptop) and it will not go into itunes. And itunes keeps crashing. Is there a glitch with win 8 and itunes ? I never had this prob with vista. I would right click a file and say open with itunes and poof it goes in the library.     Take a look at this MBP, a refurbished unit.  Don't let the late 2011 release date put you off.  For about  $500 less than an equivalent 'new' one with similar specifications you get a quad core CPU and excellent graphics.  As Steve359 mentioned, this can be upgraded if the need arises and has the same warranty as a 'new' one
    I would not be surprised that these may actually be 'new' MBPs due to the length of time that they have been replaced by the current generation.  I purchased a 17" model about 5 weeks ago, and a serial number check suggests that it is 9 weeks old.
