ITunes intermittently not recognizing iPad Air

I have both my iPhone 5 and iPad Air configured to sync over wi-fi whenever they are plugged in and iTunes is opened. iTunes always recognizes and syncs my iPhone when I lanch iTunes, but generally fails to recognize my iPad, although---and this is the aggravating part---not every time. I'm using OS X 10.9.1 and iTunes 11.1.3. I am unable to figure out why this happens. Even when I have my iPhone unplugged and my iPad plugged in it still finds my phone and not my tablet. Anyone else had this experience? If so, how to fix it?

Always check to see if your iPad is in Airplane Mode!

  • ITunes intermittently not recognizing iPhone until reboot

There seems to be an issue with iTunes recognizing my iPhone, but only after it has been connected and disconnected several times. The only way to clear the issue is to reboot the PC. Interestingly, the PC seems to see the iPhone, at least it makes the new hardware audible alert and the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver appears in the Device Manager list. Also, the iPhone charges while attached. Only iTunes doesn't register the iPhone and doesn't sync. Killing iTunes doesn't help. Unplugging and reinserting the usb connection doesn't help. I have to reboot the PC to get iTunes to see it again. Boy, this is annoying.
Dell   Windows Vista   Intel 82801G USB2 Enhanced Host Controller

Ever since I began running into this issue (often), I have been using the eject button in iTunes prior to removing the iPhone connection -though I must admit I wasn't doing that at first.
My system is configured for automatic updates. But just to be sure, I manually ran Windows Updates and confirmed that all is up-to-date. I searched around for any driver updates to my USB Host Connector, and that is running the latest drivers.
I understand this is probably not the most pressing issue to face the iPhone team. It is, nonetheless, a pain in the royal arse to have to reboot just to sync, especially when I am rushing to head out the door and want my calendar sync'd. Frankly, I have never quite been as happy with iTunes the windows software, as I have been with the iPod itself - and now the iPhone. That being said, there is a lot of crappy windows software out there. Right now, though, it is only iTunes making me reboot everyday (well, now I just have kill and restart a bunch of stuff - something of a relief)!

  • Itunes not recognizing ipad

itunes is not recognizing ipad or iphone--I recently upgraded to snow leapord

Make sure that you install every update to Snow Leopard if you haven't done so already. Go to Software Update and see if there are more updates available.
When I first updated my MacBook to SL from Leopard, I ran into the same situation. After I completely updated all the way to 10.6.8, then iTunes could see my iPad again.
If you have updated all the way, quit iTunes, restart your Mac, restart the iPad and then try again.

i forgot my pass code .and also itune do not recognizing my ipad

You need to follow the instructions in the article you reference, restore using the recovery mode as described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 which should also make iTunes see the iPad.

  • Itunes is not recognizing my ipad wirelessly

All of a sudden iTunes is not recognizing my iPad through my wireless network. It does recognize my phone however. I've tried reinstalling iTunes, turning my iPad off and on and everything. Still nothing. This just started yesterday.

Have you checked to make sure that the iPad is still set for WiFi sync in iTunes in the Summary Pane of iTunes? Sometime settings go wonky - it happened to me tonight.
Connect the with the cable again to check the setting - if iTunes is not seeing the iPad via wifi you will have to use the cable. So connect again - check the settings - sync with the cable again - then select the WiFi option again and click on Apply. Let the changes apply and eject the iPad.
Quit iTunes, restart your computer and then try again.

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

Try a different cable if you have one.
Give your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. let it reboot and try again.

  • ITunes is not recognizing or connecting to network

My iTunes is not recognizing or connecting to my network. Everytime I try to update my iPhone 4S to the its latest OS software or update my apps via iTunes Store, it prompts up an error message as:
'The iPhone software update server could not be contacted.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later.'
My net otherwise is working to the best of its abilities without any glitches whatsoever.
If I were to change any settings or anything else, please let me know.
Your help would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you.

try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Try restarting your iPad : press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears, then drag the slider; then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. If the book download doesn't re-start, then you could try downloading the book to your computer and then syncing/copying it across to your iPad.
You could also go to Settings, General, Reset All Settings.

  • HT1438 purchased a new iPhone 5 to replace a 3 - iTunes is not recognizing the new phone - what do I need to do

Purchased a iPhone 5 to replace a 3, itunes is not recognizing the new phone.  All of my email accounts and calendars have switched, what do I need to do to be able to access apps?

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    iPhone:
Apple - Support - iPhone - iTunes Troubleshooting Assistant
If  the issue persists after following the troubleshooting assistant,  continue with the steps below, testing to see if the issue is resolved  after each section.
Ensure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. iTunes 10 and later requires Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later.
Update to the latest version of iTunes and Install software updates on your Mac.
Check  USB connections. iOS devices require USB 2.0 to function properly. If  you are not sure if your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, refer to the computer's specifications. Disconnect other USB devices, and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
    Restart your Mac.

I am using a 2003 eMac and am running on Mac OSX  vs 10.4.11. I amrunning iTunes 8.2.1 (6) and not able to upgrade iTunes on this computer. iTunes is not recognizing music I have purchased and when I try to connect when it request me to I get the following error message:
Cannot complete  iTunes Store request. A required iTunes component is not installed (-42404)
    Please help.

Is this music purchased back in DRM days? I don't actually have any iTunes music so I can't test with my iTunes 7.5, but I know that without iTunes 10 you cannot even connect to the store anymore.  I wouldn't think that would require an active connection to the store all the time, otherwise how could you play music on a computer in the middle of nowhere?  Did you do something to trigger iTunes suddenly wanting to connect and check on machine authorization?

  • How can I get the iTunes app on my iPad Air 2?

I Noticed that I don't have the iTunes app on my iPad Air 2. How do I get it? Cannot find it on App Store.

Because it isn't there. The app is probably in a folder. Use Spotlight search to find it on the home screen, or check Settings>General>Restrictions and see if you have it restricted.

itunes is not recognizing my ipod.  there is no sync under file.  I need to download the music just purchased from itunes.
    can anyone help?

Do you see your iPod under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window in the source list when it's connect to your Mac?
BTW...  you sync iTunes media from the tabs in the iTunes menu, not from the File menu unless you are transferring iTunes purchases from the iPod to your Mac.
Might need to zoom to see this graphic. I have "Music" selected as an example.
