  • "Invalid Signature" preventing update to iTunes 10.3 in Windows XP

When I try to update iTunes to 10.3 on my Windows XP system with the Apple Software Update application, I get a pop-up box saying "iTunes has an invalid signature. The download has been removed".  This happens whether I select install or change to download only.  How do I get around this problem?

Follow these instructions to completely remove Apple software
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Then use free Ccleaner to repeatly repair your registry until it's fixed.
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
    download iTunes again from Apple.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
If you have 64bit Vista or Windows 7, look for the seperate download of iTunes for that further down the page.
Once installed, use the Apple Software Update under your Start Menu to fully update all Apple components.
Your content will remain on the drive in the Music > iTunes Folder, nothing is deleted.
You should be making backups of your content regularly, either through iTunes or via copying the iTunesFolder in your Music folder to a external drive.
Windows is notorious for having "other" issues that make it unstable, we as volunteers helping others can't always resolve those issues.

  • I get an error "iTunes + QuickTime" has an invalid signature while updating from 10.1 to 10.2.2

I get an error "iTunes   QuickTime" has an invalid signature. The download has been removed.  When trying to update from version 10.1 to 10.2.2.  I have a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7 OS.  I have tried repairing all the Apple software on the laptop.  What do I need to do to get this updated?

I have not had this problem before but the latest update to iTunes + Quicktime, offered today, puts me in the same situation.
The web is covered with reports of this issue over the years, always "iTunes + Quicktime has an invalid signature", but nothing I can see which is a good fix for the problem.
Tried chkdisk, install manually doesn't work, the installer just keeps trying.
Tried installing QT 7.6.4 independently from the Apple download page, that didn't help either.
If this is so prevalent, why isn't there more on the main Apple site about it?

  • HT201413 Invalid signature when updating itunes and icloud, cancels update?

Apple software update cancels because of invalid signatures, what setting do I need to change?

That one suggests the installer has gotten damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • Invalid signature so update to 11.01 wont load

I'm using my PC on Wndows 7 for ITunes.

    Hi Mark
You say everything is up to date?  And you have tried reinstalling all the CC apps?  Is Windows also fully up to date?  Hmmm...  That could be tricky.
What version of Windows are you using?  Have a look in Task Manager > Processes and see if 'CEPServiceManager.exe *32' is listed as running?
If not, I don't know where it would be installed from, and we'd need someone like Chris Cox to join the thread to tell us, but my guess is that it would install along with the CC Desktop Application Manager.  Windows 8.1 can be problematic, and a bit fussy about the order of things, and it is definitely worth adopting best practice when installing your CC apps.  That means restarting your computer, and right clicking the Desktop Application manager and running as Administrator.
How many CC apps are you running?  If just Photoshop, Bridge, Expansion manager etc. then - and I hate to say this - perhaps have another go at reinstalling, but run the Cleaning tool after uninstalling.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Try some other Extensions before the Tony Kuyper's TKActionv3.  GuideGuide is a favourite of mine, as well as Dmonzon tools, and maybe Russell Brown's Flypaper Textures.
I have to say that I have had problems with the CC Extension Manager a while back, but simply reinstalling just the Extension Manager fixed it.  Perhaps CEPServiceManager.exe *32 installs with Extension Manager?  Heck, maybe start with just trying that before reinstalling all your CC apps.
If you are still stuck, I'd risk sending Chris Cox a PM, but not until you triple check that your video card driver is up to date from the card maker's website.
Good luck, and be sure to let us know how you get on.

  • Invalid signature prevents update, unable to install without it

When I try to install Itunes 10.1 from Apple software update on my Windows 7 64 bit machine, I get an "invalid signature" message at the end of the QuickTime downlay and the download aborts. When I download Itunes64Setup.exe from the website, it aborts within a second or two.
I have tried every conceivable solution on this and other websites to no avail (deleting and reinstalling using Windows Install Cleanup and Revo Uninstaller, deleting files directly, changing the options in Internet Explorer, updating Software Update to the newest version, and too many others to mention). I even reinstalled Windows from the DVD. I even spoke with a friend who works as a "Genius" but nothing we tried
I have been able to install QuickTime 7.40 from the standalone file, which gets me back Application Support and Software Uptdate, but Software Update does not work at all and but there is no way to get Itunes back, Since I deleted the prior version of Itunes, I can no longer sync my ipods, Ipad or use my Mobile Me account, no less upgrade to the OS when it comes out next week. I am desperate.

Well, yours is the first I've heard this happening with a wired connection! Had to look up FIOS, no one else has mentioned a fiber optic connection, either.
It's no consolation to YOUR dilemma, but millions of folks are getting the download OK and it DOES have a valid signature.
I've read posts about resetting security certificates, changing router settings, yadda yadda yadda. Seriously it will probably be less time spent trying to troubleshoot, if you just get it the setup files from a friend who has successfully installed itunes/QT.

  • "invalid signature" while updating to 7.6

I have tried SEVERAL times to update to iTunes 7.6 on my PC, each time I get a little further in the process, but I still get a window that says iTunes has an invalid signature and will not install. I have updated my ASU and deleted my temp files. What else can I possibly do? I have purchases that will not download because I cannot update to 7.6! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Follow this process, it helped me get most of the way there:
    1. Open control panel
    2. double click security center
    3. click internet options link at the bottom
    4. click advanced tab
    5. scroll down until you see the Security sub-heading
    6. make sure the "Allow software to run or install even if the signature is not valid" check box is checked. (third check box under the heading)
    7. click apply
    8. click ok
    9. download itunes and install

  • Errror downloading iTunes: Invalid signature

I have been running an old version of iTunes with no problem & have just downloaded the new version 7.6? I got an error halfway thru the download "iTunes has an invalid signature it will not be downloaded". I carried on & the icon installed etc. & Quicktime tells me itunes is installed correctly, but when I try to launch it nothing happens. Has anyone got any suggestions. Tried un-installing & re-installing, running all my system scans & nothing works??

    atvrcr500,
Have you tried connecting through a different router? That has solved the "invalid signature" problem for several folks.

  • Itunes invalid signature

I'm trying to download the latest version of itunes, actually I've tried downloading several different versions now to no avail. I'm using vista and have tried everything I have came across and nothing works. I have all the latest windows updates. I've tried unblocking after downloading the installer, I've tried downloading from both FF and IE8 and checked the "download even if signature is invalid" box in IE. I've been trying to download for months now and cannot figure out what is wrong or what is left to try. Ultimately I'm wanting to buy an iphone but looks like apple isn't gonna get my money if someone doesnt fix the **** file!

Are you getting this error : Windows reports that iTunesSetup.exe is not a "valid Win32 application
If so check out this article : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1406
2, more detailed descriptions, of the fix here : http://www.zolved.com/synapse/viewcontent/28312/Itunes_Error__iTunesSetup_exe_is_not_a_valid_Win32applicat
    and here : http://hubpages.com/hub/itunes-setup-exe-not-a-valid-win32-application-error
edit : If all else fails have a friend download the latest iTunes/Quicktime and burn it to disk for you.
In addition you may want to use the Windows Uninstaller : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
That should give you the necessary basis for a clean install of iTunes software.

  • Itunes invalid signature 10.6

    Hello Apple Community,
I am trying to download an update for itunes and keep getting the same error.
This is the first time this has happened. We bought an iPad recently, could it be because of that? The account is the same.
I have shut down the application and run a diagnotics and then restarted the PC.
If I uninstall and reinstall, will i lose the "profile"?

I have the same problem but the link http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1426 doesn't work. May I have a new link to solved the problem ?

  • ITunes "Invalid Signature" Error

I have the same problem with upgrading Itunes as so many other members in this forum but I couldnt solve the problem suggested by users in other topics, hence I dont know how to change the internet connection from home to public group connection,,

Ok: Windows Vista 32 with MSE and Windows firewall completely turned off. Using the above suggested method allowed it to download, but brought me to the dreaded "Not Valid Win32 Application" error message. Last week I had spent two weeks fighting to get ver 9.2.0.61 to download and install caught up in this vicious cirlcle of forums, questions, answers, and NO help support. The solution was to download, install and run Malwarebytes to "clean" my computer. Once that was accomplished I was able to completely DL & Install that ver. Also, I am attempting to update my ipod to 4.0 and it won't download either. Very tired of these faulty products.
32 bytes, Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes, Windows Firewall, discs cleaned and defragged, uninstalled with Revo Pro, then downloaded with Firefox and re-installed with IE8.

Unable to update itunes 11.1. Tried the download only nut say's invalid signature.

Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:
