Itunes/ipad 2 locks up while updating to iOS 5

so i just bought the ipad 2 days ago, i went to update it to iOS 5
i udated itunes first that updated fine, now it's been going throught the process for almost 2 hours and both ipad and itunes is been at the same location.
is this normal?

I see you are on widows.  Turn off your firewalls  and your antivirus and try agin.  There are a fair number of reports of windows machines getting stuck due to security stuff.  Once you get the update installed, you can turn them back on.
