ITunes/ipad/iPhone synching problems

I have an ipad and iPhone synched to iTunes via the same apple ID. Ive recently deleted a number of tracks in itunes, the ipad syncs correctly and updates the deleted items but the deleted tracks are not being removed from the iPhone? The ipad matches iTunes but the iPhone now does not. How can I get the iPhone to sync correctly and update the deleted tracks?

Wanted to follow up on this as the problem has now been solved (thanks to Apple's excellent support). I had purchased the extended care package when I upgraded my Mac (based on prior experience I knew it would be money well spent). That allowed me to call Apple support and ask them for their help. After removing a set of cache files located in my iPhoto application I'm not able to sync both my iPad and my iPhone. Issue resolved.

  • How can I delete or transfer some (not all) Albums, Music and pics in "Photo Library" NOT purchased in iStore from my iPhone to a computer, when the original computer that did the original iTunes to iPhone synch is no longer available (stolen)?

The iPhone iOS 4 User Guide sees to indicate that the SYNCH function is all one way from computer to iPhone, unless it is for purchased items in iStore on the iPhone.

    Hi wjosten,
thanks for the "TouchCopy" software link. I have downloaded a demo copy and it will resolve my transfer of music from iPhone to the new computer. I can then delete any unwanted music on the new computer, then re-synch the updated music to iPhone.
I am not sure about the photos.   On my iPhone, there are two photo "albums" - one called "camera roll" and the other called "photo library."  TouchCopy finds the pictures in the "camera roll" DCIM folder, and I can copy them to the new computer etc.
However, TouchCopy does not seem to find the "Photo Library" folder.  Any clues?

  • Does Apple plan to make iTunes / iPad, iPhone compatible with 24 bit FLAC files?

Does Apple plan to make iTunes / iPad, iPhone compatible with 24 bit FLAC files?

I wouldn't count on FLAC being supported. 24 bit Apple Lossless (ALAC) is our best bet. I have been patiently waiting for 24/96 or greater support on ipods and especially AppleTV... Desktop iTunes is compatible with hi res files, but not FLAC, you have to convert them to Apple Lossless with Max (or some other converter)... I have several FLAC files from HDTracks, and converted them fairly quickly and easily with Max, so I could add them into iTunes. They play fine on my computer (with an external DAC), and stream fine to AppleTV, but ATV downsamples to 16/44 according to my Receiver. I wish it wouldn't do that....

  • 3G iPhone Problems with iTunes 9.2: synch problems

About 3 days ago I started getting this error message when I tried to sync my iPhone 3G with my Outlook 2007: "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone [name of phone] because the sync server failed to sync the iPhone." I tried various ways to try to overcome this including a hard reset of the phone, going through all the settings in iTunes, uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes, etc. etc. etc. Nothing worked. So I called Support.
The first thing the Tech asked me is whether I installed OS4. I said no, it's too buggy on a 3G: I had tried soon after OS4 came out & my phone got stuck in backup for over an hour, after which point I aborted the process. Plus what would I gain on a 3G? Nothing.
We talked for a while & he admitted that the issue probably was the fact that the latest versions of iTunes (9.2+) are "supposed to be backwards compatible" with the 3G OS, but that it's really more designed to work with OS4. So the first thing he would have to advise me to do would be to install OS4.
Since it was a given that I wasn't going to do that, his response was a verbal shrug and a passing remark that I might have to find "some way" to downgrade my 9.2 version of iTunes to 9.1. But of course he couldn't tell me how to do that.
Meanwhile, during my long talk with Support my Better Half did a Google on "downgrading iTunes 9.2 to 9.1.1". The result was: http://hackstor.blogspot.com/2010/06/downgrade-itunes-92-to-911-macwindows.html
I followed the instructions on that site & they worked. Curiously enough, my Better Half hasn't been experiencing any of these problems because he did not update his iTunes or try to dl/install OS4. Hmmm... Is there a pattern here???
My conclusion: I won't be updating my iTunes or iPhone OS until all these bugs are worked out. Will I be buying a 4G in the near future? Hmmm....
Disclaimer: I am not an iPhone Tech nor did I sleep in a Holiday Inn this week. I can only tell you what happened to me & how my problem was solved. YMMV.

Yes, I don't disagree with the first part. However, I could sync my iphone (to itunes 9.2.1) when I had 4.1 installed from another computer).
I think that I am limited to an old os (10.4.11) on my mac as it is old (pre-intel) and therefore I can't update my OS. If this isn't the case, then an update to my OS could solve the problem. I'll check the requirements of the newer OS now.

  • IPhone Synching Problems

I have the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5.  My last backup on my iPhone 4 was 7/20/11.  After that, my laptop crashed & by the time I got it repaired, iTunes WOULD NOT LET ME SYNC my phone.  I have tried everything everyone has suggested.  AT&T told me when I purchased iPhone 5 that ALL I had to do is open iTunes, right click on my phone and choose backup.  Phone starts synching.  When it finishes, I add this data to my new iPhone 5.  The only problem is that when I open the backup file and look at data put on my iPhone 5, it stops at 7/20/11.  Having same problem with iPad.  I thought Apple was suppose to be "SO USER FRIENDLY.  Someone please help me!

Yes.  It stats backing up, runs forever, then I get the message that it can't be backed up to computer. When I look in folder where backups are stored, there will be a new folder w/the date & time I started back up. All the files in folder only go up to 7/20/11 which is the date of my last backup & update.

  • IPad & iPhone Sync problems

This is starting to make a hole in my head!
I have one album that doesn't want to sync with my iPhone. I tried repairing the database - no joy. Then I tried rebuilding the database - even less joy (since it deleted all the images from 2 of my albums and I had to replace those.)
Every time I would try to sync to the iPhone, I would get a -50 error. Meanwhile, syncing the same album to AppleTV worked fine.
OK, I decided this was probably due to a problem with a single photo. So I muddled through testing, and found 4 photos that were preventing the sync. I removed those 4 photos, and it was able to sync with the iPhone.
But then I tried to sync the same album to my iPad, and the -50 error is back. When I get some time, I'll try to track down the additional images that might be causing it for the iPad.
But this leaves me frustrated and confused:
    1) Why would the same album sync fine to AppleTV, but have a problem syncing to iPhone and iPad?
    2) Why would different photos be causing the same error on different devices?
    3) Why is this only an issue for photos in that 1 album?
    4) What would cause individual images not to sync?
BTW - to fix the problem with the individual images, I duplicated the master for those files. I then lifted/stamped the adjustments. The new image was able to sync just fine.
    Any suggestions?

Well, after hours of troubleshooting, I think I figured out the problem.
    First, the fix:
Select all images in the "offending" album.
While holding down the "Option" key, click right and select "Generate Previews".
    Then re-sync, and it works.
My theory on why this works:
I suspect there was no problem with the Aperture Library. I believe the problem was with the iTunes Optimized Image Cache - you know, when iTunes says "Optimizing xx of yy images for iPad". That cache, I believe, is only updated when there is a change to the image. I'm also guessing that deleting the image from the device (iPad or iPhone) does not delete the image from the cache, so if you then re-add it to the device, it pulls it from the cache. So the only way to re-generate the cached image is to make a change to the image. This can be accomplished by making additional adjustments to the image. But of course, no one wants to do that. So instead, another way to update the timestamp on the image is to regenerate the preview. When iTunes sees the update to the timestamp, it goes ahead and runs its "Optimizing..." task, recreating the cached image that gets dumped onto the iPad or iPhone.
So, I believe this is actually a bug in iTunes.

  • Help - Itunes/Ipad/Iphone

    Hi Folks
    Really hoping you can help,
    I have 2 apple devices
    Iphone 5
    Ipad Mini
I use Itunes on both, If I am being honest I have just got myself in a complete pickle with Itunes and the devices and I don't know what I am syncing or when I am syncing or to what I am syncing.
Iphone - I currently having 741 songs this includes purchased
Ipad Mini - I currently have 401 songs this includes purchased
Question ( Which I hope is simple ) - I basically want the same amount of songs which is on my Iphone to be on my Ipad Mini, I also seem to have duplicates which I can delete but then when i re-sync my Ipad it wants to download them again?
I would have thought this would have worked as I was using the same ID on both devices.
    Any advice/help would be appreciated.
    Suzi

Create your own iTunes library on his computer. Method 1 in this support article would be the best way for you to do this. Start with your own emptyiTunes library
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1495
Read this user tip in order to make the new iTunes library your syncing library.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
This might help for sharing music.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203
You really don't want to start using each other's Apple ID to download content or "share" paid content. If the music that you want to share is imported from CD's, that's not a problem. You don't want to associate each others devices with each others ID. You will lock yourself out of your own Apple ID for 90 days if you do so. Read more here.

  • IOS 6.1.3 photo won't sync(from iTunes iPad/iPhone) to  after update

After update both my iPad and iPhone to 6.1.3 a few days ago, I just found that both devices doesn't have anything in the Photos app! I have a lot of product sample pictures in a few albums, but just can't get them sync to the device anymore! When the sycn started, I can see the albums got created on the device, and the number of pictures need to be sync... it display "Syncing 0 of 1391", after maybe 1 minute, it stopped, nothing get sync.
I only select the albums I want in iTunes to sync, no event selected... that work perfectly fine before until this update.
No difference if wire or wifi.
My wife's iphone got different issue. She sync to her own iMac, when select a few events, all pictures all sync to the phone, but no events created! so all photos all show up in the "Photos", but nothing in "Events".
Just found that if I select 1 event, I can sync 1 album... but when I try the second time, it didn't work again!. After a lot of combinations of "events" and "albums" selections and many syncs, I finally got the pictures I want to my devices... by the behaviors are very unpredicatable, something definiatelly broken here!
    Anybody see similare issues?

YES!  Updated to 6.1.3 and can't sync at all.  Either by cable, bluetooth, or wifi.  My mac won't recognize my iphone at all.  Doesn't even show up in finder.  Can't sync anything from iTunes as iTunes won't recognize my iPhone either.

  • How I fixed the iTunes "freezing when synching" problem

My version of iTunes (the latest version) would freeze whenever I tried to synch. I ran a virus check (found 3 viruses and cleaned them), then I restored my iPod in iTunes, which erases all the music off the iPod. Then I synched the iPod and the problem is gone. Not sure if this will work for you, but it did for me. Good luck.

your welcome, all of you. But there is a sad part ot this...
I noticed that the only option that worked for me was Windows 2000 and that the others (Windows 98/ME, Windows 95, and Windows NT) did not work. This leads me to believe that with more and more updates coming, sooner or later Windows 2000 will be obsolete to the iTunes software.
I know a lot of people who prefer Windows 98 and 2000 over XP because of modibility and hacking ability. So for Windows to essentially throw 98 out the window and not care to make iTunes compatible with it is pretty stupid. I highly doubt those Win98 users want to shell out about $100 to upgrade just to use a free program.
Just another piece of evidence in my theory that Apple is fading out Windows to coax people into buying more Macs.
    .....Le Sad....

  • ITunes ipad/iphone games

on my mac you can download iPad appa nd the iTunes store but i can't launch them is there a way i can launch them or download software to launch them thanks

They are there for your shopping convenience.
If you happened to be running iTunes on a Windows machine, they would appear in the Windows iTunes App Store as well.  And, just like the Mac, the apps would not run on Windows either.  But you could purchase them there and transfer them to your iPhone/iPad, where they would run.

  • Classement itunes/ipad/iphone

    Bonjour,
    merci

  • ITunes and iPhone - Applications problem.

    Hi,
Is normal *to lost all my applications* from my iPhone (or to spend a lot of time to download it again from app store - _without save games or information from my applications_ )if I bought a new computer or I reinstall my operating system (by upgrading hardware components) ????
I just finish to reinstall my operating system and I purchase an application form app-store and when I pres SYNC I received a message:
Are you sure you want to sync applications? *All existing applications and their data* _will be replaced_ with applications from iTunes library.
and in my iTunes library I have only one application the one I just bought!!!
I have same problems with Music, Movies, Photos, Ringtones .. etc
    Message was edited by: Scutu

Probably the music collection is corrupted on your iPhone (in that case you should see a lot of memory used for "other" on the bottom of the iTunes window.
Check the settings in iTunes; Reset the iPhone: Hold Home and Sleep/Wake button at the same time, ignore the shutdown slider, keep holding until you see the white Apple Logo (you do not loose any data); Sync again.

  • IPhone Synch Problems

I just restored my daughter's iPhone from iCloud and there are songs purchased under old iTunes accounts that are "stuck" in a perpetual synch mode. How can I delete these songs to complete the restore? We cannot remember the passwords for some of these old iTunes accounts (and the email addresses are no longer valid).

If you did not sync after that, restore from your last backup. If you did, use Time Machine to go back, restore the backup folder and use the backup to restore your info. Read this article about details. iPhone and iPod touch: About backups
iTunes only keeps one backup created during the sync process for each device. If you restore the iPhone or iPod touch and choose to set up as a new device from the Set Up your iPhone (or iPod touch) screen, iTunes will automatically sync and create a new, empty backup that will replace your previous backup. If you change your mind and want to restore to your previous state, you will have to retrieve your previous device backup from Time Machine (on your Mac), or other backup solution you regularly use. If you have Mac OS X 10.5.5 or later and use Time Machine, you may use Time Machine to find a previous backup.
