Itunes/Iphone 4s replaced - Music, voice memos and playlist missing and or deleted

Backed up old phone, had phone replaced from Apple Store.  they told me to restore from back up at home computer.  My playlists are gone, my voice memos are all gone, losing memos and pictures on the phone.  Can't play any music on the computer either and all the music and memos are gone from the phone.
How do I fix this?

Just to add to this discussion...
In order to force a sync with the Iphone, I had to restore the Iphone.
Still can't figure out how to get the greyed out 'media kind' to work

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.

You transfer the purchases to the computer you use to sync the iPhone.  You can use a thumb drive or an external HD, etc.  Read this: iTunes for Mac - How to copy purchases between computers:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1373

  • How do you sync voice memos and make CD's of them?

How do you sync voice memos and make CD's of them?

When you sync the phone with your computer voice memos are copied to your iTunes library with the Genre "Voice memo".
To burn to CD you do it the same way you would any music; create a playlist of the memo(s), the right click on the playlist and choose "burn to CD".

  • IPHONE 5s w/IOS7 voice memo app not working - only records, but no option to play, save, edit

IPHONE 5S W/IOS7 - VOICE MEMO APP  - CAN ONLY RECORD, CANNOT EDIT, DELETE, SEND, ETC.  TOOK TUTORIAL ONLINE AND IT SHOWED ALOT MORE FEATURES THAN I CAN LOCATE.  PLS HELP

First turn off all caps it's considered rude and as if your shouting.
try a reset, no data loss.  hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait until your phone boots back up.
    then check voice memo again.

Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.
    As IO said before:
You can redownload most iTunes pruchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
I do not think it included audio books.

    hI, bella
I also met this issue a few days ago and I finally find out how to transfer music from iPod to computer:
    1. Plug your iPod in and wait for the computer to recognize it.
    2. Open up 'My Computer' and under 'Devices With Removable Storage', double click and open apple iPod.
    3. Click on 'Tools' at the top of the window and drag down to 'Folder Options'.
    4. Under the 'View' tab, find the subfolder called 'Hidden files and folders'.
    5. Select the option 'Show hidden files and folders'.
    6. Click 'OK'.

  • Can I turn an iPhone 5 on with voice activation and Siri?

I'm a quad with limited function and want to know if I can turn an iPhone 5 on with voice activation and Siri? I'm hoping to wear it on my wrist.

No. If the phone is off there is no way to do anything.

  • I restored my iPad 2 from the iTunes backup but my music, audio books and iBooks are all missing.

I restored my iPad 2 from the iTunes backup but my music, audio books and iBooks are all missing. It seems only the Apps were restored and settings. Anyone else had this problem?

Oh and the bizarre thing was that when I opened iBooks for the first time after the restore it showed all the books in the open collection and then they vanished in front of my eyes!

  • I recorded a long voice memo and can't listen to it or send it to my email. It keeps saying "preparing failed and "name" is being optimized for sharing at this time" help

I recorded a long voice memo and can't listen to it or send it to my email. It keeps saying "preparing failed and "is being optimized for sharing at this time" help!!

    Hi there,
The recording is an hour and 25 mins.
I have never been able to listen to it. When I hit play, it freezes and
    doesn't play.
I get the error message when I'm trying to send to myself.

  • My latest OS upgrade (to 6.1.3) resulted in loss of all music on the iPhone. It is still on my computer intact, but cannot get it back on the phone. If I click on music under the iPhone icon in iTunes, it shows me only voice memos.  Help!

after upgrades, suddenly no music is on or can be synched to the iPhone. It is all there on my computer but cannot get it to synch back. I tried copying over older itl fils t no avail.
If I click on music under the iPhone icon within iTunes, it shows on a dozen or so voice memos. (also shows them under "Voice memos").
    Itunes version is 11.0.3 (42)
    Any suggestions?

From the requirements point of view, you can happily move to iOS 6. From the user tranquility pov, it's a crapshoot. Remember that MILLIONS of iDevices have been sold, a couple of those just this past Xmas season and hence all with iOS 6 preinstalled. "Many complain in the forums" is a number that ranges in the 10's or 100's: i.e., a minuscule amount of the total devices out there. And. of course, nobody comes here to gush excitedly about how well his iGadget works; everybody here (save those of us regular users who attempt to help, we're not Apple employees) has a gripe, grumble or complaint.
I can tell you from personal experience that my i5 with iOS 6.1.4 works as desired. All my colleagues' iPhones with iOS 6 work as expected. And we have a particularly flaky Wi-Fi environment thanks to our less than stellar netadmins.
But in the end, it is entirely up to you. Will you bite the bullet, or wait some more? Check the new stuff that came with iOS 6 and decide whether or not to risk it.

  • Hi! I am using an Iphone 3GS. How can I transfer my voice memos and photos to my computer? And where can I view the applications on my phone on itunes

Hi! Due to fear that I'll lose information upon software backup despite backups, I did not update the latest software. I have not backed up my phone for a long time. I'm trying to back up my phone to my computer now but itunes does not appear automatically anymore despite me not using the icloud. I clicked onto itune on my desktop but was unable to find the page that normally shows what's on your phone and whether you need to back up. I wanted to transfer some photos and voice memos but I couldn't find them anywhere. There's no phone icon appearing on my computer which normally will appear when I plug in anything on the computer which normally will show something was inserted etc. The phone is able to charge when the cable is plugged in though. Please advise how can I do my backup and how can I find and transfer my photos and voice memos to my desktop. Appreciate all the help I can get as I'm not technology savvy...

If your iPhone is not recognized by iTunes when connected - not available under Devices in the iTunes source list, check this link.

For voice memos, I have include voice memos when syncing selected under the Music tab for my iPhone sync preferences with iTunes which transfers voice memos from my iPhone to my iTunes library when syncing.

  • Itunes not seeing all the voice memos on my iPhone 4s

I want to sync all my voice memos from my iPhone 4s to iTunes but when I plug my phone into my macbook air, the section that says voice memos only has about 37 of the 125 voice memos I have on the phone. I also looked in the Music section, which has the same 37 files plus an additional 8. It does not show any of the voice memos from the last 3 years. How can I resolve this? I want to sync but if its is not seeing these files, I'm worried they will get erased.
I've read that I might be able to plug the iPhone into a PC that is running Linux and see the files under a 'recordings' type folder and them maybe transfer them to a thumb drive but I have not tried this yet as I'm hoping there is another way to extract the voice memos that iTunes is not seeing that are clearly on my phone.
I have the new Macbook Air with Yosemite and iTunes 12.1.0.50. Oh and I have not updated my iPhone IOS since 2013 so I'm still on 6.1.3. I plan to update to the most current IOS but I want to make sure my voice memos are saved and don't get hosed in the process

you have to enable that setting on your itunes. It would be under the music tab when you have your phone plugged in.

  • VOICE MEMOS and Wrong Time Stamps in Itunes

I've noticed that my voice memos in the new iTunes 11.1.3 (8) have incorrect time stamps all over them now. This is a real problem for me, since I need the dates that the messages were recorded. I just tested this out by recording a new one today (2/11/14) on my new Iphone 5s. It showed up dated 8/13/12 2:13pm. My phone has the correct date on it, so what gives?
    Any solutions out there?
Not to mention the fact that there are NUMEROUS DUPLICATES of previous memos that have become weird artifacts in my iTunes library each time I've backed up my materials. AND the new iTunes setup makes it incredibly hard to *actually remove data* from my system. I am concerned my private material is no longer private, but being archived elsewhere for meta-data purposes.
    C'mon, Apple. You're really slipping.

I see all timezones, have you tried setting the time/date manually? I'd do than, then pop an email to support.

  • How do I take a voice memo and save it in my music app or use it as a sample in garage band

i don't know how to use a voice memo on my iPhone 5c in garage band as a sample or audio recording. I also want to save it under my music app

to do both of these, you will need to go through iTunes: sync your iPhone, change the nature of the voice memo from "voice memo" to "music", make sure it shows in your iTunes library, then sync the iPhone again.
