ITunes/iPhone update and Authenticated proxy support
Itunes Iphone update fails to use username with proxy when trying to POST to http://gs.apple.com/TSS/controller
It is quite obvious that this is an Itunes bug, it is useing the proxy and will also use authentication for some portions of the process.
This happens with Iphone 3GSs and iOS 4.3.2 and Iphone 3Gs with iOS 4.2.1 iTunes 10.2.2.12, updates work fine with no proxy and normal itune functions like song buys, radio listening etc... are fine.

I am experiencing the same issues, my ipad doesn't download any apps anymore.
The ipad 1 only had this problem on third party apps, now it doesn't work on Apple Apps to...
Can Apple please respond to this issue ?

The last update for 10.4 took it to 10.4.11. To upgrade to 10.5 or 10.6 you have to buy the install disk for that OS. You can upgrade from 10.4 to 10.6 with no problems as long as you have at least 1gb of RAM. Any program that runs under 10.4 will run under 10.6.

iTunes is updated and works fine and I am able to log onto my account. When I go to purchase a song, I get the error message "Your Apple ID has been disabled". I've tried different methods: changing passwords, making a new account with another email address, and emailing itunes tech support. I am curious as to how many others have been experiencing the same issue. When I googled the error, it seemed like it was happening extremely often with many people.

I had some fraudulent charges on my itunes account, so I call my bank and disputed the charges. Right after I did that, I started getting the message "Your apple ID has been disabled." I just realized today that the charges are not fraudulent, they are "in app purchases." One of my daughters downloaded the game Top Girl which is FREE, but in the game Top Girl you use money in the game to purchase things. It just so happens that the money you use to purchase things is real money MY Money!!!. My daughter thought she was using play money in the game and had no idea she was using real money. She spent $106.00 buying stuff. Now I have to call the bank and tell them to release the hold and pay Itunes. I'm hoping this solves the problem. I downloaded the latest iTunes software update and it properly installed. But, I cannot close the update window showing it was completed and the blue completion bar is full but cannot cancel or close it either. Any ideas on how to clear that out and close the window. Tried to quit on both the big window and the software update title in the menu bar. No luck.
Tried that by shutting down via the power button only as the normal shutdown was nixed by the open window issue. It did not help. Found a very similar question in the discussions and it recommended "Force Quit". That worked and the update works normal and the window is gone. Thanks!

I have a wifi connection but "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet" I have reset everything; I have used Itunes to update and reset. Still no good. It worked until 2 days ago
Reset everything.. did you do this?
Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings
If you're already been there, done that, could be a third party app preventing Safari from accessing the web.
Re sync your apps 5 at a time, then test the iPad. -

I have run into problems with my iPhone 4. I hadn't done an update for a while so decided to get my itunes and iphone 4 up to date. I downloaded all the latest versions. However now non of my third party apps work and my largest one has vanished. I try and open them and they flash up and then close again. I thought the easiest thing to do was to restore so I tried to syn my apps onto itunes so I wouldn't loose them. However it won't let me sync the apps onto iTunes. It ill allow me to syn the old version when I just started but since then I have bought a dozen other apps. Can anyone help. thanksWell this won't work for me...
I had all of my apps and music stored in iTunes, I updated to the newest 9.2 iTunes and did a 4.0 update to my iPhone 3G all the while not noticing that EVERYTHING IN iTUNES was GONE. When I got done updating my iPhone it was late so i went to bed... Next day came back to sync everything and thats when I saw it was all gone...

did what the link said and NOW I have all my 6K+ MUSIC back but not ONE APP. The App's are completely gone from when you nav. to the location the link says... There isn't a mobile sync folder there...

if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.

Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>About=>Carrier?

I just not a new iPhone and in order to sync it I need the newest iTunes, but I can't update it! I tried checking for updates and then trying to downlaod it. I get this error: "Errors occured while installing the updates. If the problem persists, chose Tools > Download Only and try installing manually."
Where on earth is Tools anyway?
When I tried just reinstalling all of iTunes, I had a Windows Installer error...I don't even know what that is!tools is at the top of the apple updater but dont get your hopes up

I also recently installed Norton 360, but that was eliminated via Norton Help. They remoted in, removed Norton 360 and problem persisted - iPhone did not show on the "Computer" window, and no pop-up to download photos even with no antivirus installed. Norton help advised to uninstall and reinstall iTunes, which seemed a bit excessive. Any other fixes I can try before an uninstall and reinstall?
Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. I did the iPhone update, and iTunes recognizes iPhone but iPhone doesn't recognize iTunes.
the phone says "connect to iTunes" even when it is connected. iTunes seems to recognize the phone (even though the phone looks inactive). when looking at the macbook screen, the phone on the screen in itunes displays all my apps and music. i don't see my photos and my contacts from the macbook view. i'd like to restore my phone from the back up prior to the update, and i am being prevented from doing so. help.
prior to this i was having problems with itunes telling me to put in a password to retrieve my backup, and even after putting in my normal password it didn't work.
i did not have it set to encrypted. i've tried all previous passwords ever used in itunes or elsewhere on my computer.
