ITunes / iPod 80G Conflict

Probably a "no brainer" but I'm a newbie. I uploaded a bunch of music and most transfered with no problem. On occasion(like this one) my iTunes shows all the songs I uploaded by a particular artist, but in my iPod I've got 5 different listing for the same artist; all with the same songs under each different listing.Under the artist category there all spelled alike, etc. How do I get rid of the multiple "same artist/songs" listings on my iPod. Thanks!

OK, i'll answer my own question. It seems particular to Bob Dylan that I needed to go back into the source files and describe all the songs with the same genre and album (Both categories) or it wouldn't see the artist as a single listing. Odd, his was the only one that gets treated this way, all the other artists have various genre and album listings and are not affected......go figure.

IPOD 80g Classic & docking station help!

Hi everyone, hope someone can help. Bought a friend slimline TEAC cdx60i for Christmas to use with her IPOD 80g. When she puts the IPOD into the dock, it freezes and won't play, she has had to reset everytime. Any suggestions before we return the unit to the store, its nice but won't work half the time & frustrating. I saw an earlier post from 2009 that said this was happening after updating Itunes to a newer version? thanks!

A bit more info........this is a CD/IPOD charging unit that attached to the tv to play music/videos from your IPOD (maybe that explanation is not necessary). It plays videos fine when choosing the function from the IPOD menu, but when trying to just play music it freezes on the docking station. My friend is worried about resetting it all the time and just plain doesn't want to deal with the hassle, maybe its not compatible with the classic model? Thanks again all.

Tried to sync iPod Touch, noted "new" iTunes. iPod won't sync ("iTunes is unable to load data class information from Sync Services"). Tried the fix, but iTunes hangs when I try to open Preferences.

If you connect your ipod to your computer then look in the hidden folder labeled "iPod_Control" . (This is on a Mac version, but i think it's the same for Windows) and in "Music" is all your music mixed up in different folders. Just drag the MUSIC folder onto itunes then BAM! It's done ;D

ITunes/iPod Nano Problem?

I recently purchased a refurbished iPod Nano 4th generation from GameStop. When I went to sync the iPod with iTunes, it proceeds to tell me that it is installing "Natrual Voice Text to Speech Reader Standard". After a moment, it shows this -
When I click "Cancel", it proceeds to show the same thing all over again.I have to end the task in Windows Task Manager to get the box to go away, and this closes iTunes with it. iTunes still works when the box is present, but the iPod is not recognized in iTunes.
Thinking this could be a virus, I ran antivirus scans on the computer and the iPod. Nothing showed up.
At this point, what should I do?

When I connect my iPod touch to my computer, I have a list of Events on my iTunes/iPod/Photos. I want to erase these Events. However, the photos are NOT on my MacBook Air. When I check one of the Events and then hit Apply, the photos appear on my iPod.

Not all iPhoto albums showing up in iTunes iPod options

Not sure when exactly this happened but I guess with the installation of iTunes 6.04.
Some of the albums I've created in in iPhoto do not show up in the iTunes iPod options.
I first noticed when trying to view photos on my iPod that images that had been there before were no longer available.
Anybody else experiencing this? Any idea on how to fix this?
I've already tried to restore my iPod and delete the iPod Cahe folder but that didn't help.

I had the same problem and noticed that the missing albums had been PhotoCast. Apparently these albums are not available for transfer to your iPod. When I Stopped Publishing the album, the problem was solved.

Rip dvd's into itunes/ipod???

Hi -- with itunes 6 and the new ipod, how can I transfer my own video files to the ipod? can i rip a dvd I own to itunes/ipod???

I don't understand the snobbery attached to paying a few dollars for a piece of software when all of us spend thousands on equipment.
All the mentioned software is available for download and tryout, if you like you buy - simple!
For me "DVD to AppleTV Converter" runs incredibly slow on my Quad as it doesn't support multi-processing, so no good. I have no idea of the quality of it's conversions because I binned it as soon as I realised this flaw and wasn't prepared to pay for a product that failed to utilise the power of my machine.
"VisualHub" however is amazing. The quality is great, and it's fast - maxing out all four processors, so I have no problem shelling out a few quid for it.
"Mediafork" is another great utility, and has the advantage of being able to rip straight from a dvd, and the quality is great.

My sister has her own computer with her own itunes and her own ipod installed on it (same model Ipod and same version Itunes and also a PC). I want her music. I want it on my Ipod. How do I do this?
When I connected my ipod to her computer it said that another user was using Ipod software and that they had to log off before it would recognize my ipod. How do I do this without affecting her Itunes/Ipod settings? Help? Thank you....

Multiple iTunes/iPod Updater Entries in Add/Remove Programs

There are three entries for iTunes in the "Add or Remove Programs" window.

I never bothered uninstalling the previous version before upgrading (I fear it will mess up my music library if I take iTunes completely off). I always figured, like with most other programs, it would replace/delete the previous version on its own.
The same thing happens with the iPod Updater. I have two of those.
iPod for Windows 2005-11-17 (4.17.0)
iPod for Windows 2005-09-23 (4.3.0)
Should I uninstall them all (iTunes & iPod Updater) and reinstall only the latest versions (iTunes 6.0.4 & iPod Updater 2006-01-10)? I have like 30GB of music, and if anything were to happen...I'd seriously jump in front of a speeding car before reripping everything...ok no I wouldn't, but I'd be extremely ****** off.

Sync with only one iTune/iPod account and have EVERYTHING EARSED

I've up dated to 7.11 and when I plug my iPod 40G photo in, I get message that you can only have one iTune/iPod per computer account...trouble is that THIS IS THE COMPUTER I started my iPod with!! Now it wants to sync and earse all my songs but better yet 8,000 songs are missing in the library!!
I also have 3 other iPods and none will be allowed in the library!

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. Once you are safely connected if you can't reinstate your library from your computer then there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.

ITunes/iPod is set to automatically convert MP3s to QT

My iTunes/iPod is set to automatically convert MP3s to QuickTime, and I don't want it to do that. All I want to do is transfer TRUE MP3 files without the conversion, but I'm not sure where the settings are, and on which device, that's doing the conversion. Using Windows Vista OS and a new iPhone 4.

Edit > Preferences > Devices.
Uncheck the option for "Prevent iDevices from automatically syncing".

However I do not have access to any PC with broadband.
ouch. okay, the only thing i can think of to suggest is what beloved and i had to do back in the days when we needed digital photos for on-line applications. we went to a copy store with PCs and broadband (kinkos in our case) and rented a computer for half an hour or so for the photo processing and application submissions.
do you have a copy store anywhere convenient (with a PC with both broadband and a CD burner)?
