Itunes/ipod adding song problem

everytime i go to add songs, it wont let me, and under my ipod where it says music, when i click it, the font is not bold but lightened and i cant add songs nor delete any, how do i fix it? thanks

As an addition, these are the directions for something I'm trying to add to my notes, thus why I want to find Ipod as a device in my computer.
1. Mount your iPod as an external drive via FireWire or USB, just as you would to work with iTunes.
2. The iPod will show up on your computer just like any other internal or external drive.
3. Open the iPod “drive” as you would with any disk on your computer.
4. Open the notes folder on your iPod on your PC or Mac - on Windows it will show up in My Computer, on the Mac in the finder sidebar, or in the Computer (use the Finder’s Go Menu to open your “Computer” window)
5. Drag the unzipped folder titled WDWToGoTrial, or WDWToGo_LiveTrial or WDWToGo__MenusTrial into the Notes folder of your iPod
6. Unmount your iPod and you're done

  • ***New*** iTunes 7 skipping songs problem (2-3 seconds of play only)

    Hey all,
Long post here, but I hope you'll bear with me, as I reckon this is something of a new fault with iTunes 7.
Found a bug with iTunes 7 on my iPod Video which I don't see any references to from anyone else. (I presume I'm not alone, but I've Googled the **** out of this problem and no one else seems to specifically have it...)
Basically, with iTunes 6.0.5, all was well. For putting songs ONTO the iPod, I've been using Anapod Explorer for well over a year, again without any problems. (I don't usually keep much of a music library on the PC - it all gets stored on DVD-burned MP3 discs, so there is a backup, just not on the machine. For that reason, and for personal preferences with iTunes' own way of updating, I find Anapod's copy and paste approach to updating the iPod to be much handier.)
So, long story short, a few weeks ago I upgraded to iTunes 7. Left it a while longer than usual because I was burned by an earlier iPod software upgrade which stopped me from playing divx/xvid videos created using iPod Videora Converter - on that occassion, I had to pull the firmware BACK to what it was when I first got the iPod. Thankfully, whatever bug was in 1.1 in relation to home-created videos is no longer there, and 1.2 works perfectly well. The brightness feature is the main reason I risked changing the software again.
So you would have thought all would be well with the songs, then? Unfortunately not. iTunes 7, slick and all as it appears, seems to create a situation whereby, once I disconnect from iTunes, ALL songs suddenly only play for 1-3 seconds before STOPPING, with the 'playing' bar jumping all the way to the last second and holding there. Skip forward to the next song, and same thing!
This cannot be an issue in relation to Anapod, as it never affected iTunes seeing the songs updated to the iPod via that method before. What iTunes 7 does seem to have done, though, is prevent songs being played in the normal way by introducing this frustrating 'start, 3-seconds, stop' issue. It will eventually go to the next song after about 1-2 minutes of silence, and then the process repeats. Throughout all of this, the songs do play normally within iTunes 7(0.2) so it is not a hard drive or corrupt file problem.
I should say that this is not crucial or a desperate situation, as I've already found a way to fix it. Moving BACK to iTunes 6.0.5 (or any 6.x.x version) and playing a few songs within iTunes, and then disconnecting will miraculously return all the songs to the usual full playing ability.
Unfortunately for Apple, this means (for the second time in a year) that I cannot update to their latest release as it ruins the playability of my iPod. I would like the extra features in iTunes 7 (for playing songs on the computer - as I said I never used it for updating anyway), but this latest glitch means I'll be using the more stable and reliable 6 for some time to come.
What I'm curious from the good folks on the forums here is to see if any of you have heard of this exact problem until now, and if so, what solution anyone had to get around it (possibly including actually keeping iTunes 7!)
Thanks for the help. Sorry for the long post. It all seemed kind of necessary when I see so many posts about 'skipping songs' but never about 2-3 seconds worth of play (most usually say they get more than half way.)

I've update the subject of your post to more accurately reflect the issue.

  • IPod Adding Songs Not in Playlist

Because I have too many songs in my Library, the iPod created an iPod Selection which I add the songs I want on my iPod on iTunes for me.
In the summer, my sister added songs to my Ipod as hers had broken. I do not have these songs in my Selection, but they (and others) repeatedly add themselves to the selection, and appear on my iPod.
I am not adding these songs to my selection, but they keep 'randomly' appearing. Can anyone answer my question as to why, and what I can maybe do to stop this happening? Thanks, Coral

    Interesting.
I would try unsyncing all Music by unticking the Sync Music box at the top of the Music Sync device age.
Then resynch just want you want and see if that clears the issue

  • How to stop iTunes from adding songs to library automatically???

I love iTunes and almost everything about it. Pretty much the one and only complaint with it is that every time I download a music file (not to my music folder), iTunes can be completely shut down, but starts up and adds the file to my library. I download a LOT of random files that I listen to once and delete immediately, or I will download music to one folder and move it to my music folder at a later date, so having iTunes automatically adding all of these files to the library on its own free will is going to force me to uninstall it. Is there any way to stop iTunes from doing this?????? Even if it were to just add the files only if I played them in iTunes vs any file I add my my computer?

I think you aked this before and didn't get an answer. I don't really know, but here goes.
Any thing iTunes plays it adds to the library and I guess that iTunes is set as your default player for the type of file you are downloading.
You don't say exactly what you are doing but you are using another program to download music files. I am guessing that somewhere in the Options or Settings of the program you are using there is a setting to play after downloading, maybe you can turn that off?

  • How do I stop Itunes from adding songs to my library?

Is there anyway to make Itunes not automatically add songs to my library upon retrieving them?  The second I download a song onto my computer, Itunes automatically adds it to the library.  Is there a way to turn this off, or a place I can download to that Itunes can't access?

    Soulgazer,
If you are downloading from the iTunes Store, the song will always go to your iTunes library.
If you are downloading from another website, the behavior is controlled by a setting in your browser.  For example, if you use Firefox, go to Options > Applications and make sure that the MP3s are set for "Always Ask."  By doing this, the songs will be downloaded to your computer, but no action will be taked until you do something manually.

  • Ipod Mini Song Problem

I have a song that plays perfectly fine in Itunes.
Once on my ipod, it plays for about 20 seconds, then skips to the next song. If you try to "fast forward" through it, the whole song is blank.
I've already tried deleting the song and resetting my ipod, and neither have fixed the problem.
    Any ideas on what's up?

  • Itunes + iPod repeating songs

Recently iTunes has been repeating some of the songs in my library and the problem has now caused my iPod to do the same. A description of the problem goes something like this... I'll click on a song in my library and it will start to play. The song will play for about 5-6 seconds and then it will go back to the beginning of the song before it plays the song in its entirety. As I stated before, the problem started in iTunes, but has now spread to my iPod also. I've downloaded the latest iTunes updates and I've even reinstalled iTunes to try to fix the problem.
Can anyone help me sort this problem out?

You can sort by genre--just click on the genre column. Then you can grab all the songs of the genre you want to shuffle and put them in a playlist. Finally, you can shuffle this playlist.

  • ITunes 11 adding songs to Library which don't show up but can be found by Searching - but can't be player

    Hello,
I got a little problem here...
My iTunes 11 won't show the titles of a new album i tried to import!
I imported them the normal way, after this i recognized there was a problem, i had the album two times. I tried to fix it by changing the album name on every track again... It didn' work so I removed the tracks from my Library... then I wanted to reimport them, but... they just didn't come up...
I looked for them and found them in my Media folder. I deleted them there again and tried to import again... Nothing... they just won't appear in iTunes but are always present in the Media folder!
I can also search for the band in iTunes and can find it, but if i press play (also if the songs can be found in the Media folder) it won't do that... it just doesn't show them, i can't remove them from my Library and can't play them!
Does anyone have a solution for a problem like this?
Sorry If my english is bad at the moment, but i'm very tired and the day wasn't funny at all...

  • Itunes/ipod with colour problem

recently, ive been having problems with my ipod. i accidently dropped it onto concrete a couple of months back, and since then, it keeps coming up with the sad ipod icon. fortunately, tho im sure it doesnt do it any good, a swift smack to the back of it, and a restart usually gets it to work.
a couple of days a go, i had a pop-up on itunes saying that my ipod was corrupt, and needed to be restored. i clicked cancel the first time, but it came up again when i restarted itunes. i done this, and everything was fine. no sad ipod icon. however, now itunes wont open when my ipod is connected, but when it isnt, it'll load fine. i've tried it on my other pc without the internet, but that says about the ipod software not being installed properly.
i also cant access it via my computer on either computer, they both freeze, and stop responding.
i didnt buy my ipod from apple, so im pretty sure i cant just send it to them to get it fixed/whatever they can do. is there anything i can do, or would it be easier just to get a newer ipod?
ipod with colour   Windows XP Pro

if still does not solve try this
. Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    Tips
    a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iTunes 7.
    b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
    c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”

  • ITunes automatically adding songs on my computer to my iTunes library

Ok... really this isn't a problem that can be fixed by consulting a forum, but because I can't exactly email apple support, I'm posting here to see if other people have this issue on their minds.
Apple thought it would be intuitive and wonderful for iTunes to have a feature that searches through your hard drive and adds songs to your library as they are downloaded to your computer. As someone who is always being sent new songs, and often listening to songs only once before deleting them, this feature has actually caused a hassle for me. I now have to spend extra time going through my library in order to delete songs I didn't want in my library in the first place.
This is just a plea for iTunes programmers to make this feature OPTIONAL in the next version of iTunes.
    Thanks!

  • Itunes ipod movie sync problem

I have a bunch of videos on my ipod but just recently all the movies sort themselves in music instead of movies(on my ipod). when i sync a new movie it sorts itself under movies.
    my question is: how do i get all my movies to show up under movies.;
and yes i tried changing the media kind to movie. but that dosnt fix the problem.any help is awesome!

    Hi dg,
I had something similar happen to me, this is just a shot in the dark. I had set my iTunes to play on a remote speaker that was connected via an Airport Express. Any time a video came up, only the audio part played, because a video can only play on the local machine. I think it's the latest "remote audio" solution.
I had to tell iTunes to play from the local machine, then it was fine.

  • CompUSA USB 2.0 Card, iTunes, iPod with Video Problem

I just purchased a new 80 gig iPod with video and had to upgrade my MDD Duak 1 Ghz for USB 2.0, as transfer in USB 1 takes far too long. I purchased a card from CompUSA (SKU 304244) which adds two external ports only. When I attempt to transfer files into the iPod it seems to function at the faster speed, but will then freeze on a file, not allowing me to eject the iPod or sometimes to even force quit iTunes. I have tried this several times and there is no consistency regarding how many files have transferred or their size as to when the freeze will occur.
I originally tried this without adding a driver (using OS X 10.4.8), then I added the one from the included disc - same results. I then re-installed the 10.4.8 updater thinking this might have a more recent driver, but things are still the same.
I don't have any other USB 2 devices to use to test the card.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • Ipod 4G song problem

I have a ipod 4G 64 gb touch I just got before Thanksgiving.  It was syncing fine up untill about a month ago.  I noticed all the some of the artists were out of alphabetical order and the letter seperator was not working.  I have done system restores and it works perfect (everythin is alphabatized and where it should be) until I reconnect it to re-sync then it is all screwed up again.  As of lately it is starting not to list all the artists, but if you go into songs, the songs are there.  has anyone else run into this or know of a fix???

It seems to be an iOS 5/iTunes 10.5.x prolbem. Very common.

  • Itunes plus: upgrading songs problems...

Itunes says that I have no DRM protected songs, but a third party application; Double Twist says that I have about 50.  Can any body help me to fix this problem?

The record companies do the compression, so if they don't take proper care in doing the compression there may indeed be tracks that have poor quality. Contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of their web page and explain the problem to them. That way they know to attempt to get new copies from the record company. Usually the iTunes Store will give you a credit (though I can't promise any particular resolution; I only speak from experience) and advise not to re-download the same track for a couple of weeks or more, to give them time to try and get a new copy.
    Regards.
