Itunes / Ipod syncing....  HELP!

Hello,
I had my old Itunes Library on my Powerspec using W-XP PRO, then one day my PC started to cat funny... I think it was hacked, so then I decided to back up some of my items to an external HD! (I put my 5 Gigs of Music on my external HD) then my PC crashed, HD failed... It was not a good site!
Now I am using my older Dell 4300, using Windows 2000... I need to know how to get my Itunes Library back onto THIS PC! (Dell)
Should I just insert the HD onto this computer and copy all my music over to Itunes?
and then will my Ipod sync with this PC even though its a different PC? Do I have to authorize it?
Thanks in advance!
Eliott

It's certainly not true that only the newer iPods support mp3s. There seems to have been a number of problems with 7.2 and the release of the non-drm tracks from iTunes. It most often crops up with tracks that started out in life as drm tracks purchased through the iTunes store that were subseqently converted to non-drm tracks. Depending on how they were added to the library, it appears that iTunes thinks they are still the drm tracks but corrupted. Deggie's suggestion has worked for most folks, as best I can tell.
Best of luck.

  • ITunes/iPod sync help needed!

So I have a 2nd gen iPod touch, and I buy all my music straight off of iTunes app.  My old Mac computer (Let's call it Mac1) had all of my songs that I had bought on there prior to when we replaced it (may 2011).  Then, we got Mac2. I can't put my songs that I bought after May 2011 onto Mac2, because it will only let me delete my ENTIRE library on my iPod (which has all of my purchased music on it). I don't want to lose those songs that I spent my money on.  How do I make my iPod sync to a new computer and get the iPod's songs onto the computer?

Just transfer the iTunes purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You may also be able to redownload the music( and apps) by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Bought 5 new songs on itunes. ipod syncs but songs do not show up on any playlist

Bought 5 new songs on itunes . ipod syncs but the new songs don't show up on the play list that is on the ipod . the do appear on itunes library. what am i doing wrong ?

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
Try syncing using the manual method
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
Do you have any Restrictions (Settings>General>Restrictions) set that would prevent syncing those songs? (iTunes purchases only)

  • ? about itunes/ipod syncing

I have recently reimported many of my cds at a higher quality. I am afraid when I plug my ipod in, it will automatically add all of the newer higher quality versions I imported as well as keeping the old versions. My ipod is set up for automatic syncing when I plug it in. Any suggestions on how to avoid have 2 versions of my cds without having to manually delete them?

You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes for Mac - Keyboard Shortcuts
Did you delete the earlier version of the songs you reimported? If you have deleted them from iTunes then syncing the iPod will remove the old versions and replace them with the new ones. The original songs will only stay on the iPod if they are still in iTunes.

  • ITunes podcast sync help

Hi, this is concerning Podcasts. If I want to keep everything on my iPhone "clean" - only unplayed podcasts exist on phone and iTunes after syncing procedure it seems necessary to go through the following steps:
    1. Sync -- to update iTunes "played" count
    2. Refresh -- to removed played podcasts from iTunes & download new podcasts
    3. Sync - to remove played podcasts from iPhone
Is this really the way it works? Is there no setting in the iPhone or iTunes that makes the Sync delete all played podcasts on the iPhone directly - so step "1" would not be needed?
Please tell me there is a better way!
    Thanks

In iTunes you can select your iPhone and then look at the podcasts tab. There you have the option to sync only unplayed episodes with your iPhone. In the podcasts section of iTunes you can change the settings so that only unplayed podcasts will be kept and also set the refresh rate. So, if the refresh rate is once a day for example, once a day iTunes will check for new podcasts and if there is a new one download it and delete any older ones. Now, you can use your iPhone in the following way:
Listen to Podcast episode 1 on your phone. Lets say you finish it.
iTunes checks for a new podcast during the day, while your at work for example, and downloads episode 2. Episode 1 is kept because as far as iTunes knows you haven't listened to it.
You get home and click 'sync' in iTunes. At this point iTunes finds out you have listened to episode 1 on your phone and deletes it from the phone and iTunes. Since episode 2 has not been played it adds it to your phone
I think this is the behavior you were asking for. This reduces the three steps you described to just one.

  • ITunes / iPod Sync on new computer - HELP

I have recently bought a new computer and have reinstalled iTunes. I am trying to sync my iPod and although iTunes will read the tracks on my iPod, it will only retain them in there for as long as my iPod is connected. Also whilst my iPod is connected all the tracks are "greyed out" and so I cannot work with them.
How can I get the tracks to move across from my iPod and into my library?

    try a program called,"iPod agent".
this will allow you to move files from your iPod to your new computer.

  • ITunes + iPod sync problems

so, I plugged in my iPod last night for the first time since updating to 7.7 - a friend had already warned me there might be something wrong with the syncing, so I was a little bit apprehensive about it anyway.
so, it found my iPod and started the sync - music was still playing so I didn't think about it. when I checked the progress iTunes had frozen completely (the spinning beach ball of death turned up too). I forced a quit of iTunes then ejected my iPod and guess what? anything that was on the iPod was wiped. (I'm not too bothered) then I restarted and tried to plug my iPod in again, hoping that I might be able sync again - this time I waited. iTunes then displayed an error stating that it could not recognise the contents of my iPod and did I want to restore it. I felt I had no choice so I started that process. it's been over 5 minutes since the little 'Restoring iPod' status bar popped up and it's done nothing. I can't click around it whilst in iTunes either.
I guess my question is - are Apple going to fix this bug with 7.7?
in the meantime, any suggestions on how I can just get my tracks back onto my iPod?

    arteest103,
First, the .itl library can cause the same issue on a Windows-based PC.
Second, often third party applications that add themselves to the iTunes source list, or offer to assist with managing your library may modify the .itl file. In at least some of the posts where somebody is experiencing an issue, programs that do so have been mentioned. Apple doesn't control what you install on your computer.
Third, data can become corrupted over time. That is why backing up is always recommended.
Rebuilding the .itl file, if that is what is causing your issue will resolve the issue.
Do you ever find yourself reorganizing books, sports cards, moving furniture, reorganizing recipes, etc? Essentially the .itl file is a database or organization table that keeps track of what is in the iTunes Library. Rebuilding it is like reorganizing/cleaning it up. The steps to do so are in this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
    Hope this helps,

What do i do?! please help!
If anyone know how i can get my ipod to appear in Itunes or an alternative way of putting songs on my ipod id appreciate it if could say.
I've tried putting songs on from My Computer but it doesn't allow me as it says its full and no more can be added but it is only 3.5gb full and my nano is 4gb.
    Please help!
    Thanks!

I can longer sync my iTouch (1st, 8GB) onto my machine since updating to iTunes 8.2
I currently have an iMac PowerPC G5 and running 10.4.11. I have tried several things to trouble shoot this problem.
    1) I have reset the iTouch (1st, 8GB) several times
    2) I have tried all the USB ports on the back of the machine
    3) I have restarted the machine several times
NOTE: I have a Fifth Gen (iPod with Video) 30GB and still works fine since the 8.2 iTunes update and I have no issues with syncing it with iTunes 8.2
The only way the iTouch WORKS..........is when I hook it up to my machine at work. My work machine has a Intel dual processor and running the most current version of Leopard, it was also updated with the 8.2 iTunes update and works fine.

  • Need ipod syncing help!!!!

Hello, back in september my Itunes PC crashed. I downloaded itunes for my new pc and plugged my ipod in to sync it up, it does not sync in the normal section anymore and shows up under devices (on the left hand side) it does not give me the option to look at artwork normally that way or organize my library the same way. (its kind of like when you plug a friends ipod into your itunes and it pops up as "friends ipod" and you can browse there stuff but not save it to your library) I wish tosave teh contents of my ipod with the itunes library. Any ideas on what to do? I'm not to tech oriented but can try and get by. Any help would be great! Thanks guys!

  • ITunes/iPod Sync Loop

    Hi,
Hope someone out there can offer some insight.
When I hook my 5th generation iPod to my MacBook Pro via the USB cable to sync it with iTunes, iTunes goes into what I can only call a "syncing loop":
    1. The iPod mounts on the desktop
    2. iTunes opens automatically
    3. The iPod and iTunes start to sync
    !!!BUT!!!
The sync that used to take a few seconds, now is non stop... the little arrows beside the iPod icon on the left side of the iTunes sidebar goes round and round and round and round etc etc. Also in the iTunes message window it says NOT to disconnect while iTunes syncs the device. The only way to stop it is to eject the iPod and disconnect it. This started with the iPod firmware update 1.2.3.
    My Specs:
    MacBook Pro
    OSX 10.5.1
    iTunes 7.5 (19)
    iPod 5th generation 1.2.3
    Any help is greatly appreciated

  • Itunes ipod Nano Help!!!

I have an ipod nano 1gb. On itunes i upgraded to the newer one. now i could only add less than 27 song. The capacity is now 896 MB. I use to can add more than 90 songs on my 1gb ipod nano. anybody know how this can be fixed?
    Thanks

first question is is there a setting i can choose
(either in iTunes or the iPod nano itself) to make
the on-screen iPod nano text appear larger than the
    default?
    No.
    however, most
of my songs require a program called NJStar
Communicator (www.njstar.com) to display the chinese
    characters -
I think NJStar uses an encoding which is not compatible with iTunes or iPod. You need to convert the ID3 tags of the songs that require NJStar to display correctly to Unicode. I have heard that ConvertZ is a program that might help do this.

  • Computer reinstalled - itunes ipod reinstall help???

Hi everyone, first post here and I'm after help, not the best of starts eh. Anyway I'm Steven from Manchester in the UK and have got a 5th Gen iPod, which is also my first ever iPod
Anyway, onto my problem. I had a major problem with my PC on Sunday and finally got it sorted on Tuesday. I lost my 1st HDD so lost iTunes and my iPod installation as well as all my files. Luckily for me though I had backed up my music and videos on my 2nd HDD, but sadly I hadnt backed up the library.
Just wondering if there is a way of reinstalling iTunes so that it'll recgonise my songs and videos and not wipe them first, or will I have to just create all playlists etc again?
2nd question is, that I've now misplaced my iPod CD so am unsure of how to install it. Can I download the install software again? If so then where from?
Thanks in advance if anyone can help me out in anyway

I'm not sure what you mean by "Just wondering if there is a way of reinstalling iTunes so that it'll recgonise my songs and videos and not wipe them first, or will I have to just create all playlists etc again?"
I'm assuming you are referring to your iPod being wiped on connection to your new iTunes. Have a look here for preventing your iPod being updated: "How to keep iTunes from automatically updating your iPod" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93779
You don't need to install your iPod but for future use, you'll get the iPod Updater software here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ipodupdater20060110.html
