ITunes / iPod touch not syncing correctly

I'm having two problems at the moment, the first of which is an error which comes up while syncing the mail accounts to my iPod. The following message (http://www.moventouch.com/itunes.png) comes up (the part which has been blanked out contained my name, it's not a big gap in reality). Secondly, I subscribed to a new video podcast (Spore TV), and when I sync my iPod it doesn't get copied over.
Are these related, and how can I fix them? I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.5, iTunes 8 and iPod OS 2.1.1.
Thanks!

Sorry, fixed the Mail problem - didn't realised the 'Advanced' bit of the Info tab was down there, thought it would have been with Mail. My mistake, but the podcast problem is still there.

Why does my ical on my ipod touch not sync with my ical on my desktop imac ical?
It will if I put it in on my desktop though.

Probably because you did not tell the iPod to sync the calendar in iTunes.

  • Now that I moved my itunes to a new computer why will my iphone and ipod touch not sync?

I just switched my itunes to my new laptop from my desktop (which no longer works).  Everything seemed to be ok after I updated to the newest version of itunes.  Now I cannot get my iphone (3G) and my ipod touch to sync at all.  In fact when I plugged in my ipod touch it erased everything I had on there.  I know these are older devices but I had no problems with syncing previously so why now?  Even the backups will not work.

You can only sync to one computer/iTunes library. If you switch iTunes will erase the iPod and replaces the media with what is in the iTunes library of the new computer.
    You should have done this:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
You said "Even the backups will not work.". What happens when you try to restore from backup?

  • IPod Touch not syncing w/ iMac iCal

First post! I sync my iPod Touch with my iMac thru the cable. Recently my iPod touch stopped syncing w/ my iMac. for example: the calendar events on the iMac are not transferred to the iPod. Also on the iPod when I create an event, it will only give me the choice of either Calendar [imap_.Mac]:Mail To Do or Calendar, not all my different calendars like before. I don’t know what happened to change this. I restored the iPod but nothing changed. Perhaps it was a software update?
I went to the genius bar and was told that the next time I synced the iPod, under the “Info” page to go to “Advanced”, Replace information on the iPod and click the boxes that I needed to replace. This did nothing. I then put an event on the iPod and synced it with the computer, the event was not transferred to the computer.
Is there a setting that needs to be changed?

    Greetings,
Have you restored the iPod? http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/assistant/ipodtouch/

  • 3rd gen iPod Touch not syncing with iTunes 10.4.1 on Lion?

I've had a 3rd gen 64GB iPod Touch for almost two years now and I've only had one problem with syncing it before. I followed this (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1747) and it helped. But since I updated my MacBook Pro to Lion, this article no longer applies and iTunes hasn't recognized my iPod. My iPod does show up in iPhoto though. Everything is fully updated and I restored my iPod using another computer, but even after doing that my iPod isn't recognized in iTunes. Also, my iPod won't go into recovery mode. It shows the connect to iTunes screen but when I connect it, nothing happens. I've tried restarting my computer and my iPod many times and I've tried everything I know.
Now, since restoring, I have nothing on my iPod and I use it every day so any help would be appreciated.

I figured out how to show the hidden files, but even after doing that, the files weren't there.  On the page that you showed me, it says "Note: These steps do not apply to OS X Lion" and since I am using Lion, it didn't work

  • Ipod does not sync correctly with ITunes

Hello, and thanks in adavce for responding.
A couple days ago I connected my Ipod to a different PC with an older version of Itunes. I did not asociate the library nor synchronized the Ipod with it. When I connected my Ipod in my main PC where I keep my library, it seems as if it does not sync all my files correctly. For example, I have some TV shows in my library but they don't seem to transfer into my Ipod, when they used to before. I have the same problem with the photos. I have re-set my Ipod to factory settings a copule of times with different results. The first time, the photo's would not appear, and the second time, the TV shows did not. Furthermore, my ITunes library does not show photos anymore, but they do appear in the Ipod. It seems as if the Ipod is confused with ITunes, but I honestly don't know what to do. Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

formatting the ipod resolved the problem for me, and also on a friends ipod with the same problem (160GB version)

  • Ipod Touch not syncing Win 8 64, iTunes 11

    Hi,
New install of win 8 64
    New install of iTunes 11.0.0.163
iPod Touch original with OS 3.1.3
Whenever I sync music file or videos to this iPod Touch iTunes will hang mid sync. Sometime it hangs close to the beginning and sometimes towards the end. Sometimes a video or song or two will make it onto the iPod but most often it just hangs. If I leave it for abou 10 minutes then iTunes will eventually return control with a timeout message saying my device timed out.
All the songs and vidoes synced on this device a few days ago when I was using XP and an earlier verison of iOS on the iPod -- the files are good.
Things I have done to try and fix this:
-- upgraded the iOS on the iPod Touch -- I'm now on 3.1.3 and it didn't work and cost me a few dollars
-- reset the iPod Touch -- a full reset, and then set up "as new iPod" on iTunes -- didn't work and I lost some photos (no big deal)
-- reinstalled iTunes for 64 bit on Win 8 -- didn't work, I'm definitely using 64 (iPodhelper service shows as 64 bit in TM)
-- run iTunes in Win 7 compatibility mode -- didn't work and iTunes functioned very poorly and hung almost from the start
-- changed the videos from "Home Video" to music video -- didn't work
-- changed the videos from "Home Video" to "TV Programme" -- didn't work
    Looking for tips.
    Yours sincerely
    Pauly

Hmm, 3 weeks and not a single reply from Apple support . . is it really this bad?

  • After buying new PC, iPod Touch not syncing to iTunes

    Specs:
PC with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit version
    iTunes 10.2.1.1, 64-bit version
iPod touch 2nd Generation, iOS 4.2.1
    Situation:
After building a new PC, I can't sync my ipod touch to itunes. The iPod Touch has been restored to factory settings. When plugging the iPod in, iTunes says "Syncing to the ipod timed out." I re-restored the iPod touch again. After it reinstalls the iOs and begins to sync the iPod Touch, I get the messages:
"The ipod "xxx" cannot be synced. an error occurred while writing to the device."
After a while longer, it says:
"the ipod "xxx" cannot be synced. a folder was specified instead of a file."
I have already uninstalled/reinstalled itunes, unisntalled all apple programs in individually and reinstalled itunes, plugged my iPod Classic and tested its ability to sync (no problems), I've restored my iPod Touch over ten times.
I tried connecting the iPod touch to my old computer to see if it still works and it was able to detect it. I've turned off Windows Firewall in my new pc and tried syncing the ipod but that didn't work. I can't see my iPod Touch as a drive in My Computer in my new PC. I've checked device manager and there are no ? or ! icons next to any devices.
Suggestions? I've researched this over 4 hours, called tech support, searched this forum, and quite frankly, I'm ready to throw this thing out the window. Your help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Perfect, thanks. Rarer than it used to be, but P55 chipsets have been known to be cranky with iPod/iPad/iPhone connections on Windows 7 systems.
We'd better check to see if there's newer versions of the BIOS and/or chipset drivers available at ASUS for you. Head to the following page at ASUStek and try autodetecting your motherboard:
    http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
If there are updates available, and you update, does that help with the syncing performance?

  • IPod Touch not syncing music

Why oh why do things that worked previously not work now? This happens so much with Apple products!!!
I have tried now several times to sync my plugged-in iPod Touch with my iTunes selected songs and playlists.
I have checked the boxes about manually managing music. I have chosen for the iPod to sync with a playlist in my iTunes library, and even tried just dragging the songs over.....They still do not show up on the iPod.
I did a manual reset, holding down the On/Off button and home button on the iPod, and it still isn't syncing correctly.

I had a similar problem yesterday. Even after "restoring" it still would not sync the music but did sync the videos!! In another thread I found some help from "John Guo" who suggested
"Try putting the iPod into recovery mode. To do that, turn off the iPod. Then it on and hold the Home button until it asks you to connect to iTunes. Plug the iPod into your computer and restore it. Hope this works."
I did that & all works fine now. One other thing I did was set NO automatic syncing in itunes prefs. I when it asked after the restore I did NOT restore settings from backup bu designated it a new ipod.
    Good luck,
    Harris

  • 1st Gen iPod touch not working correctly?

    I have a 1st generation 8GB iPod Touch. It's not working correctly.
My biggest problem is that, unexplaiably, certain areas of the screen don't seem to register touch anymore. There is a sort of "L" shape on the left and bottom edges of the screen that won't register touch, making it impossible to move applications to the previous page on the home screen and making it hard to use the keyboard/buttons while in portrait mode. It's extremely frustrating to try to change the volume while playing a song, as I now have to either put the iPod in sleep mode then double tap the home button or flip it to cover flow and double tap the home button to do it.

(Highlight the image to see it better.)
This is a screenshot of the working/non-working areas that I made using the Whiteboard application. The white area that you see (excluding the little half circles of black which are extended brush strokes and not actually working areas) is the area that doesn't work. I can't seem to figure out why it happened, as I've never dropped or otherwise damaged it. It just happened one day, and I don't know why.
But I can't fix it. I've tried everything. Upgrading (I'm now running iPhone OS 3.0 which still didn't fix the problem.) didn't work, restoring didn't work, deleting everything and restoring from factory settings didn't work.
I'm also having a few other problems as well, though they're not as bad. My home button seems to stop working sometimes and sometimes the entire screen witll stop registering touch until I put the iPod to sleep and turn it back on. It also seems to go a lot slower than usual.
My iPod is less than a year old. Can you help?

    Vipershark,
I had a very similar problem this past weekend with my 1G 8GB iPod touch. But with me, just the left side of the screen wasn't registering my touch. I could still access the bottom section, which you cannot.
The good news for me is that I fixed it and I hope it works for you as well. What fixed it for me was resetting all my settings. To do this, go to the settings icon, then click on general, and then on the very bottom is reset. Choose "reset all settings."
Apparently this is different than a restore through iTunes, which you tried. I also tried that earlier and it did not help.
Of course, the reset solution I used relies on you being able to access all of the correct buttons, so I hope you can!
Please let us know if this works for you. If not, since it is less than a year old, it is still under warranty. Contact Apple and see what they can do.

  • IPod Playlists not syncing correctly?

I have a 60GB 5th Generation iPod. Up until my last sync, I could choose to randomize my playlists and they would automatically sync that way to my iPod. Now it's not doing it correctly. Everything is exactly the way that I had the last time that I synced my iTunes and iPod.
I've tried restarting it, resetting to factory settings, re-downloading the new iTunes 8 and it's still not working. Is it just a marketing ploy in order for more people to buy the newer iPods or am I just dumb and not doing something right?

I have had the same problem ever since installing iTunes 8. I have several playlists in iTunes that include many artists, some artists with more than 1 song. I have the playlists shuffled in iTunes, but when I sync my iPod, the playlists show up in my iPod with the songs in alphabetical order by artist. The playlists are not shuffled on the iPod, as they are in iTunes.

  • Ipod touch not syncing as already synced with another library

    I Pod Touch just purchased 4th one in family. Whilst away i set up itunes in another win computer and synced new  ipod touch to this one. Now i,m home trying to sync with my mac at home but getting error;
"This Ipod is synced with another library" The other library(on win) is just still mine in itunes.
How do i fix this without losing all new app's etc on daughters computer that were purchased whilst away. Do i have to lose all the new app's & songs
    help !!

I think that, for some reason, none of the backups that were being made are listed any longer. The only ones listed are four that have timestamps after I erased, one with the earliest timestamp that's the encrypted backup, and another without a time stamp that I'm also assuming is later. I might give that one a try, but I'm not sure that it will work...

  • My iPod is not syncing correctly.

I have the latest generation iPod Touch and I have the newest software update. In my iTunes library I have the songs checked that I'd like on my iPod but when I sync my iPod, it does not sync those songs and keeps the songs that are currently on the iPod. It also has been deleting songs off of my iPod even though I never deleted them. Also I noticed when I have my iPod connected to my laptop, in the syncing process it always skips steps 3 and 4?? I'm not sure what to do and I'm starting to get frustrated.

    Hello steffanix
To start the sync over, deselect the music in the Music tab and sync. Once complete, select it again to start the sync over.

  • 2nd generation iPod touch not syncing with computer

When I plug in my 2nd generation 8g iPod touch, it doesn't say "syncing" and it doesn't show up as a device on my computer. I tested the cord with a wall charger, and it's not the cord's problem. Is it because my iPod is an older system? My iTunes updated by itself so it's the newest version. Help!!!

I have unfortuantly had the exact same problem following my update to iTunes 11.
Incase someone explains the problem for me and not you, here is the link to my post. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4755057
Best of luck getting it to work!

  • 2nd Gen iPod Touch not syncing music album info properly.

It's more of a annoyance than anything but in iTunes the music album information is correct but on the iPod Touch it's not. For instance the album ChangesBowie by David Bowie shows it as such in iTunes. However on the Touch it shows the artists as "Various Artists". When I look at the info in iTunes it's correct on the Music listing for both the Library and iPod sections.
How do I correct this? There's a half dozen or so like this. All of them were imported into iTunes from the CD's I own.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Dan Voils wrote:
In iTunes it is correct. It's listed as Artist: David Bowie.
If you look in iTunes, I bet you'll see the Album Artist is "Various Artists" (Album Artist is a separate field from Artist). If Album Artist is not displayed in your library, right-click on any of the column headers and select Album Artist. That will reveal what's in this field for each song.
    Dan Voils wrote:
It is saving the files in the Compilation folder on the hard drive. Where are the Tags I need to check? I don't see it in the Get Info area of the album.
In iTunes, select all songs on the album then right-click and select "Get Info" (or simply press Ctrl-I). You'll see a window that shows the "tags" for the songs. There you'll see the Album Artist field underneath the Artist field. If Album Artist is not "David Bowie" then change it to David Bowie (or blank it out). Also, you should see an "Options" tab at the top edge of the window. Select that and you'll see the "Part of a Compilation" setting. If it is "Yes" then change it. You'll see this flag set to Yes incorrectly on several albums, mostly "Best Of" type albums which are not really Compilations but that's how they're tagged in the Gracenote CDDB database where iTunes gets its tag info.
