Itunes/Ipod updater can't find my Ipod, but windows can?

I have a problem that I have tried many different ways to solve. When I plug in my Ipod, it is found in "my computer" and with my windows media player, but not Itunes or Ipod updater. When I reset it with Ipod updater opened, the updater freezes. I have tried re installing my itunes and ipod updater. One time my ipod froze when it was doing something with the install, but it works fine when not plugged into my computer so I have no real idea. Can soembody please help me out?

Startup iTunes while holding down the option key. When the dialog box pops up, click "Change Library" and navigate to the library on your MBP.

I downloaded the latest iTunes software update and it properly installed.  But,  I cannot close the update window showing it was completed and the blue completion bar is full but cannot cancel or close it either.  Any ideas on how to clear that out and close the window.  Tried to quit on both the big window and the software update title in the menu bar.  No luck.

Tried that by shutting down via the power button only as the normal shutdown was nixed by the open window issue.  It did not help.  Found a very similar question in the discussions and it recommended "Force Quit".  That worked and the update works normal and the window is gone.  Thanks!

  • Mac Mini wouldn't recognize my 5th iPod (but windows can!)

I have the same prob here.
Mac Mini with OS X 10.4.3
    iTunes: 6.0.1 (3)
    QuickTime: 7.0.3
iPod Updater: either 2005-10-12 or the latest one 2005-11-xx
    iPod Video
    1. QuickTime can play .mov correctly
    2. problem: everytime i connect to my iPod Video to Mac mini, iTunes crashes immediately. After that, I tried to reinstall everything (including iTunes, iPod Updater) after cleaning everything related in the system (but iTunesHelper couldn't be removed until I restarted the OS) but in vain.
    3. iPod Video can sync with iTunes 6.0.1 (with updater 2005-10-12)on Windows correctly. Just cannot talk to my Mac Mini!
And if I reformat the iPod with iPod Updater on Mac, everytime I connect the iPod to my Windows laptop, it always says that Windows cannot recognize this iPod format and asks for reformatting again.
    Please help, thanks!

The photo sync is one-way: Computer to phone. Photos synced to your phone will have to be extracted from your phone using third-party software, if you want them on your computer, as Apple makes no provision to do so. Since you're using a Mac, you can use this:

  • ITunes won't recognize iPod, but Windows will...

When I plug in my iPod a Windows folder comes up, showing the folders within the iPod, but iTunes doesn't recognize that it is connected. I have the latest iTunes(5.0) and iPod software. What's going on here?

  • Trouble with itunes ipod and windows vista

I just got a new computer with windows vista home premium (32bit) and i am having trouble syncing my ipod with itunes.
when i connect the ipod it asks me if i want to scan and fix the drive, if i click continue without scanning it sometimes wont let me sync, and if it does it only gets about half my music on there before saying it is unable to write to it (unknown error 53)

I have a similar problem, with my new iPod Touch crashing an XP Professional setup. It's worth noting that the Apple article also talks about potential USB conflicts with other devices on the system that might have bad drivers. They say the solution, if that is the fault, is to make sure all your USB drivers are good. I'll try that, by a process of elimination, before re-installing iTunes (as I thought I had the latest version and I don't have Vista). I'll come back here later to report the outcome.

  • ITUNES IS NOT PICKING UP MY IPOD, BUT WINDOWS DOES

My i-tunes 7 is not pickin up my ipod, even when windows does, i have gone to the support site and have done everything ther;(delteing itunes, reinstalling itunes, re-installing my ipod and notthing) wat DOES happend is when i re-install i-tunes 7 and i plug in my ipod, i open itunes for the first time and i says " there are new updates for your ipod, install?" i click yes and then my ipod looks like it disconnets, as in when it's connected it had that "do not Dissconnte sigh" but when i click download, it goes away and just charges like if its not connented at all!, so i keep it there for hours and nothing! PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

iTunes does not watch the folders to see what's new. When you put songs in the folder, you have to tell iTunes to add them, by the command File > *Add (File or Folder) to Library.*

  • After iTunes 7 update can't get itunes to open or work

OK...i recently updated to iTunes 7...and seemed to work fine then when i started up my computer today and tried to open up iTunes i got the message:
"The iTunes Library.itl file cannot be found or created. The Default location for this file is in the "iTunes" Folder in the "My Music" folder."
So now i can't open up iTunes and when i keep trying to open it i get that message? Is there any way to get the old version back without losing any data? Or is there any way to fix this so i can get my itunes working properly again?

Follow these steps for that one:
    Recreating the iTunes Library file
    Follow these steps:
    1) Quit iTunes.
    2) Locate your iTunes folder.
For Mac OS X the iTunes folder is stored in one of the following locations:
    /Users/username/Music
    /Users/username/Documents
Note: You may need to check both locations.
For Microsoft Windows the iTunes folder is stored in
    \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
    3) Open your iTunes folder.
    4) Drag the iTunes Music Library.xml to the Desktop
    5) Drag the following file from your iTunes folder to the Trash:
Mac OS X: "iTunes Library" (in versions of iTunes prior to 4.9 this was called "iTunes 4 Music Library").
Microsoft Windows: "iTunes Library.itl" (in versions of iTunes prior to 4.9 this was called "iTunes 4 Music Library.itl")
    6) Open iTunes.
    7) From the File menu, choose Import.
Tip: Do not add any music into iTunes at this point.
    8) Navigate to the iTunes Music Library.xml file on the Desktop.
    Click Choose.

  • Itunes/ipod from windows to mac

I just purchased a new imac and was previously using windows. I restored my ipod (2nd gen. nano) and can purchase new songs and put songs from my cds on it just fine, but can't get songs that I purchased while using my account in windows to transfer to my imac. The pc doesn't have a burner. I read how to use the ipod to transfer, but does this work between a pc and mac, since all info is lost when the ipod is restored? Thanks much for any ideas!
    imac

Either restore the iPod on the PC or install software such as XPlay onto the PC, sync the music to the iPod on the PC, and prior to restoring it on the Mac in the first case, use the transfer purchases feature.

  • I am currently trying to sync my new iphone 5 but itunes keeps saying it cannot find my phone, but i can click my phone in itunes and see what is on it.

I synced my iphone 5s but i want to sync it again but an error message keeps saying my phone isn't connected even though it is.

First, check if your Mac is supported > http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575
If your Mac is supported, buy Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard After buying Snow Leopard, I recommend you to make a Time Machine backup and/or a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner, so in case the upgrade fails, you will be able to recover your data.
After that, insert the DVD and upgrade. The disc will install Mac OS X 10.6.3, so open  > Software Update to update to 10.6.8. You may need to run Software Update again after updating in order to install iTunes 11.0.1, so you will be able to sync the iPhone

  • Itunes app updates can't resume

those app i updates and paused...the next time i login to itunes it show nothing and i need to start the update again...i thought it will resume from where i stop ???

Thanks, Lucky.  Good to know I'm not alone . . . I was going to try an erase, but based on your response I may wait a while.
Sorry you had a bad first-day experience.  I've had the phone for quite a while (I was one of the loonies who bought it on the first day it was out), and in general I've been pleased with it, but every once in a while it does something funky like this that, unfortunately, requires more time to unravel than I'd like it to.
Good luck, and thanks again for sharing this information.
