ITunes / iPod won't see Calendar or Contacts files

I have a 60 gb video iPod which has worked wonderfully until the previous update of iTunes to 7.0.1. Sometime during my use of that version (perhaps at installation) iTunes stopped updating contacts and calendar files. Now in the settings panels of version 7.0.2 of iTunes it shows no calendar or contact files. I was able to check with another (80 gb video) iPod, whose settings did show my contact and calendar files as options for syncing.
Frequently when I click on the "Contacts" tab of the iPod settings the application will hang.
I have performed the various "R"s, to no avail. I have thrown out and recreated the iPod .plist preference files, but still to no avail.
Thoughts? I suspect some corrupt, invisible, setting file pointing to my specific iPod is on my iMac creating this havoc, but I wouldn't know where to look.
Help?

Hi Jennifer,
I never received any info on this. Have you found a fix for the problem?
Thanks!

    No.
One of you create a new AppleID and one use the existing AppleID.
But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
Create separate computer logins for each of you.
This will give you each your own data. Contacts, calendars, photos, etc. (and your own iTunes library).

  • Tried to sync iPod Touch, noted "new" iTunes. iPod won't sync ("iTunes is unable to load data class information from Sync Services"). Tried the fix, but iTunes hangs when I try to open Preferences.

Just tried to download new audiobooks to my iPod Touch 3, and noted new iTunes. iPod won't sync ("iTunes is unable to load data class information from Sync Services"). Tried to Reset Sync History per Support Article, but it didn't work. My purchased audiobooks are also gone from my iTunes Library.  Any fix, or is my best bet to uninstall new iTunes and reload earlier version??

  • Formatted HD and iPod won't see songs that I have reinstalled on HD

I formatted my HD. I copied the library of the iPod back onto the computer into MyMusic. However my iPod won't see any of the songs that I recopied onto the computer. I was forced to reformat the iPod. My song library is in MyMusic the whole time but the iPod won't see any of it. How can I get my iPod to see the songs in MyMusic.

" However my iPod won't see any of the songs that I recopied onto the computer"
What exactly does that mean? The iPod is not supposed to "see" your music in your "My Music" folder.
I don't get what you're saying, or what the issue actually is.

  • ITunes & iPods can't see iCloud contacts

I have 3 iPods that do not support iCloud (a Classic, an old Nano, and an old Touch).  After activating iCloud on my iTunes computer, I noticed that, for each iPod, when I plugged it into iTunes, contacts and calendar syncing were both turned off.  After turning it back on, calendars worked fine -- it started to sync with the iCloud calendars.  But contacts won't work: when I turn on contact sync, the iPod's list of contacts becomes empty.
It looks like iTunes can't see the iCloud contacts, and only looks for "On My Mac" contacts.  For example, under "Selected Groups," no groups appear, even though Address Book displays a handful of contact groups in iCloud.
Anybody else notice this?  What do I do now?

This is a fixable problem-if you don't mind turning off Contacts in iCloud.  I turned off just the Contacts in iCloud and when I synced my 2G iPod the contact list, groups included, could then be synced.  It was a solution that allowed my contacts to be placed on my iPod, but I assume that my outdated iPod will not allow iCloud contact syncing.

  • ITunes 7 won't see iPod

I just installed iTunes 7 and it's the best upgrade to iTunes in, well, forever. But it won't see my 3rd gen iPod. I'm connected to my PC via firewire and haven't had any problems in the past with iTunes seeing my iPod. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting, I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes.
It sees my iPod as a hard drive in My Computer, so the computer sees it. Just not iTunes. What steps can I take to get iTunes to see it?
    Thanks for any help!

I'm having the same problem with I-pod recognition
with 2 30gb Videos. I have tried to update the ipod
and even reset it, but as soon as you tell it to
perform the function it drops the connection with the
ipod. From the looks of the forum this is not the
only problem with Version 7. If anyone has a solution
let me know. We use these for our radio station
events so we need to get back up and running. Thanks!
How do you manually update the iPod? How do you reset it (do you mean hitting play and pause at the same time for a few seconds?)? Apple has made it really convoluted to manually update your iPod software with iTunes 7. If I could, I'd just run the updater, erase the iPod, and start from scratch. But with iTunes 7, I can't find a way to run the updater.
It'd be awfully nice if the folks at Apple acknowledged these problems publically and at least gave us reassurance that this HORRIBLE problem will be fixed. They broke their flagship product. Their least obscenely overpriced product. Something that everyone and their mother has. It's silly.
btw, I connected my iPod via FW to my housemate's macbook pro and iTunes 7 recognized it instantly. Just figured I'd give a bit more info.

  • ITunes 7 won't see Photo iPod

I synced my iPod using iTunes version 6.05 this morning. I then upgraded to iTunes 7.0. Now it won't see my iPod.
    Windows sees my iPod.
I've tried changing the drive letter and that hasn't worked.
I ran the diagnostics under the help menu and it tells me "Failed" for iPod connection status. Everything else is green.
    I have rebooted my machine.
I tried running the iPod Updater 2006-06-28.exe and it tells me I now need to use iTunes 7 to update my iPod (translation: go climb a tree and eat nuts).
I deleted the iTunes directory and then control panel-add/remove software/itunes - repair and iTunes saw the iPod. I sycned, I rebooted, it crapped out again.
So, if I want to sync, I have to repair the installation and then it works....One time mind you....

Okay...so after I deleted the iTunes directory and then went to the control panel-add/remove programs and repaired the install, it now sees my iPod.

  • Outlook 2013 64 Bit - iTunes 12 64 Bit - No Calendar or Contact Sync

    Current System Setup
Microsoft Office 2013 Standard Edition - 64 Bit
    iTunes 12.1.2.27 - 64 Bit
    Windows 8.1 Professional Edition - 64 Bit
    Current Issue:
Outlook Calendar and Contacts stopped syncing several weeks ago.  When it stopped the computer was setup with and had been setup like this for a very long time with no issues.
Microsoft Office 2010 Standard Edition - 64 Bit
    iTunes 11.x - 64 Bit
    Windows 8.1 Professional Edition - 64 Bit
Went to the local Apple Store.  The tech blew away iTunes completely, even taking out the library xlm, and all supporting Apple apps.  Nothing worked.
Went to the Microsoft Store at the same mall right after the Apple Store.  He blew away the C:\Users\XXXXXX\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\ folder and all of the subfolders.  FYI...That folder was 10GB in size.  Still no luck.
I updated the computer to Office 2013 Standard Edition - 64 Bit.  No luck.
I read multiple articles with people having similar issues with different degrees of success.  I checked everything from the PST file default, Firewall Settings, Outlook Trust Center, etc, etc.
The one thing I see missing in Outlook is the "iTunes Outlook Add-In".  It is not listed in the COM-Addins section at all.  I have not found any reference to how to bring back this COM-Addin to Outlook for iTunes or if it is necessary for this version of Outlook and iTunes.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hmm, have you looked at Troubleshooting Sync Services on Windows with Microsoft Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2010 - Apple Support yet?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Centro won't Hotsync Calendar and Contacts with desktop

Here's my problem.  I hotsync, but my Calendar and Contacts don't transfer to or from the handheld to the desktop.  I'm using a Palm Centro and trying to sync with Palm Desktop 4.2.1 on a MacBook running MacOS 10.4.11.
I already tried a complete restart of my Centro, erasing all user data.  I then hotsynced it and it restored from the backup on my MacBook, but this did not fix the problem.  It restored my contacts and all my apps to their prior status, but I lost all the Calendar data in my Centro.  I still have the data on the MacBook from whenever it was just before it stopped synching correctly.
The log proposes that I run the Contacts and Calendar applications and then run a hotsync.  I did that, but no results.  I still get the same stuff in the log.
    Please help.

This may be dumb, but I did not think to look for this until i called Palm for help...
After I had issues syncing, I re-installed the Palm software..when you do that, it sometimes turns off the ability to sync. To confirm that you have the ability to sync,  open Palm Desktop and go to Hotsync --> Setup, and check the HotSync Controls to see if it is "Enabled"
Also, if you have problems syncing with Entourage...try this...

  • HT1364 I've done the steps here but when I reopen Itunes it won't see the files.

Exactly what the title says.  I load up itunes after following all the instructions, it doesn't say it's missing files, it doesn't say it can't locate the library. It opens like usual but shows no files under Music or Books or any other catagories.  I check Prefrences/Advanced/ and make sure it's pointed to the new library location.  It is.  Keep files organized is checked.  Consolidate is checked.  When I navigate with windows explorer to the new library it shows all the files there just like it did in the old location.  So what gives?
Here's what I've done to try to fix it.  RecycleBin/ Hit restore on the deleted Itunes library. It goes back to where it was. Load up itunes and tell it to look at original library.  Still the same problem. itunes won't show any of the files even though it's pointed to the correct location.

If they are both the same size then my guess is they are both empty. No Previous iTunes Libraries folder from the last time you updated iTunes? Normally I'd expect to see files of the form iTunes Library yyyy-mm-dd.itl one of which might have served as a useful starting point.
What you should have done if you wanted your library on a different drive was move the entire iTunes folder as a unit to the root of the other drive, and then shift-start-iTunes, choose library. I can't tell what you've done, but if you use the shift-start-iTunes technique to open each of those libraries and neither contain your media & playlists, and you can find no other .itl files then I guess you'll just have to start over. Are there any .tmp files in the iTunes folder? If so see this post.
If nothing else works see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • Treo 680 won't sync calendar and contacts but everything else OK

I  bought a Treo 680 off of Ebay. It is unlocked.  ATT phone but I use T-Mobile.  PHone works just fine but I can't use the Palm organizer for calendar or contacts.   I have hard reset several times.  WHen I do everything works except the contacts and calendar.  When I push those buttons or try to open those apps the Treo immediately resets and never opens up the app.
    OS of  Mac?       10.5.6
    Using  Palm desktop
Version of Palm Desktop    4.2.1, Hot SYnc 5.4.0
    Version of your device?  TREO680-1.09-ATT
Is this a software problem?  DO I not have the right software in the computer?  DOes Treo not work with Mac OS 10.5?
Also how is it possible to sync with Entourage?  I use that for email and see that others sync it to their phone to read emails.
    Thank you

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I followed your advice on another post.  Took out the battery and pressed teh red power button until the black line went all the way through to end and pressed the English language button.
I think I solved teh problem though it is not elegant.  I created a new user name and everything little that it was in the new calendar and on the Palm synched perfectly.  Then I copied my old user data, replaced it in the new user id folder.  Some stuff came through, some did not.  WHat I have found is in the contacts, if I just click on the contact and put it in a category it syncs next time with the Palm.  WIth the calendar in the conduit settings I told it to go from Mac to Handheld and everything came through.
If you have any other advise I would appreciate it.  Especially how to sync with Entourage since I now use that as my email program.
    Thanks

  • ISO4 won't sync Calendar and Contacts to MobileMe

    Dear Guys,
After upgrading to iOS4 these couple days, I couldn't have my calendar and contacts sync'ed with my Mac via MobileMe.
I even "Restored" the original settings and re-installed everything back to the iPhone. And, no, it does not work.
    Any idea? Appreciate your help.
    Jimmy Chiu

I have always synched directly via the USB cable. I am now using Windows 7 with Outlook 2010 and iSO4 and can't synch the calendar and the contacts. Although I did have some problems synching contacts with the previous iOS version, I had no problem synching my calendar. Since upgrading to iSO4, I haven't been able to synch anything. It is maddening! I even tried MobileMe a few days ago hoping that I could synch my calendar through it, but it didn't work either. Apple support last month was absolutely of no help. I may go back to a BlackBerry if the problem isn't solved soon.
