ITunes is adding random music to the end of mp3s

Hi there... any help would be greatly appreciated...
recently I have noticed some very strange behaviour from iTunes....
on some tracks (randomly, some ripped from CD, some bought from Napster a while back, some 320kbps, some 256kbps), iTunes replaces the last few seconds of a song with a random few seconds of a random track from my library.
I had this happen with a CD... so I reripped it and it was fine. But it just happened with tracks I bought from Napster. I had to edit the ends of the tracks to avoid the gap that Napster annoying always put in there, so I know that the end of each track was good, present and correct. Now I import the track into iTunes, and the end is a few seconds of a Bob Dylan song!
And now the actual file has been affected... when I listen to the track in Finder, it has the same random Bob Dylan at the end!
Please, this is driving me crazy... if anyone can help - I'd love it... and if anyone could convince the folks at Apple to stop screwing with a program when it's stable, that would also be great too! :-)
(Never used to have this problem with iTunes)
Many thanks.

It seems to be.  Here are the import settings:
I've also unchecked the "Rename Files" box - the outcome is the same.

  • I added background music to the video clip, but I only hear noise, no video clip audio or the background music audio

I added background music to the video clip in iMovie, the playback runs ok on the right corner preview screen, if I share it to movie clip or itunes or theather, I only hear noise, no video clip audio or the music audio
If I don't put additional audio to the clip. audio effect or music background, the video plays normally
I detached the audio from the video clip and deleted it, that way it was possible to listen to the music background and see the actual video clip, but no audio from the video clip.
    How can I have both?

    Hi
    My first thought is -
Where are the original Audio file ?
If it was on an Audio-CD then the CD is Ejected and one tries to play the movie - it can not find it = Silence.
You are using an Non-Destructive Video editor - meaning that You have raw material - Video, Audio and photos but no Movie in Project - only a text document directing How You want it to be played. So if Audio is not where it was when this document were created - iMovie can not find it and e.g. audio goes silent.

  • Can iTunes be set to stop at the end of a track and wait for a manual play.

I am wanting to use itunes to play sound effects in a live drama but I need to have it stop at the end of each track and wait for a manual start. It needs to be done without deselecting and selecting tracks by myself and, importantly, others who may be confused by the computer.
If iTunes can't do this is there any other app that can, I've been looking but failed to find any apart from DJ packages which are more complicated than I would like for others to use.

You want to have a bunch of tracks, play them in order, the first one plays then it stops and all you have to do is hit Play to continue to next track?
    This script will do it.
Play the first track and iTunes will stop at the end and queue up the next song. Just press Play (or Spacebar) and it'll  play the second song and stop till the end of the playlist.
No need to select any songs or do anything fancy.
    -> Stop Track!
"This script applet runs in the background while an iTunes playlist is playing. Whenever the accompanying "STOP_TRACK_05sec.mp3" track is encountered, the script will stop iTunes and advance to the next track, which you can start manually."

  • My iTunes is only showing music in the cloud.

This just started happening last night. All of a sudden, all of my playlists are gone and iTunes is only showing music from the cloud. All of my music is on my local computer but it doesn't appear in iTunes. I've turned off the cloud functionality and then no music is displayed at all.  Because of this issue, my phone's music is no longer syncing to iTunes since I use a play list to sync. Same issue with my movies and apps. The entire library in iTunes has been replaced by the cloud. iTunes Match and Genius are turned off. They were never turned on.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • I transferred my iTunes library from one external hard drive to another and added more music on the same day. How do I get rid of my duplicate files without going through them one by one which would take forever?

Please help. I have transferred my iTunes library from one external hard drive to another plus added additional music now I have duplicates of the same music in many albums. How do I delete the duplicates without going through them one by one which would take forever? I understand how to get the "show exact duplicate" feature up on iTunes but, because they were added to the library on the exact day I can't seperate them I'm that manner. So each duplicate is right next to eachother in the exact duplicate screen.

My DeDuper script is designed to help clean up. See this thread for background.

  • Just got my computer back, reset my itunes and added new music. how can i sync my ipod with the computer as I do not want to erase what I have on my ipod

Just got my computer back. How can I reset my itunes so it matches my IPod settings? I have my favorites and files on my IPod that I want to keep and when I try to sync it gives me the option to erase and sync with computer. How can I sync without loosing any music or files at all?

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like those discussed here:

  • Using iTunes *just* to transfer music to the iPod?

    More iTunes frustrations...
As my original hard disk is nearly full, I've installed a second hard drive (let's call it G:); this is where I intend to keep my music files for use by my Squeezebox.
Before installing iTunes, I copied the contents of My Music to G:\My Music. The idea was to let iTunes loose on the original set, doing whatever it has to; then transfer the results to the iPod; then delete the original set and (somehow!) persuade iTunes to leave them on the iPod. After this, I would put files onto the iPod by transcoding FLAC files in G: to mp3 files somewhere else, then dragging them onto the iPod; then deleting them from the hard disk. (I'm not bothered about having anything in sync with the iPod.)
This is now beginning to look like a forlorn dream .
First problem: when I installed iTunes, I am pretty **** sure I told it only to look in My Documents\My Music; yet it seems to be full of references to files on G:. Curiously, only a selective set, not even all tracks from some albums; it's as if it populated itself by reading playlists rather than folders. (Yet I've checked: none of my playlists under My Documents refers to G:) So why on earth did it add files from G: to its library?
Second problem: I told iTunes not to convert my WMA files during setup. This would create AAC copies in my iTunes folder, and my disc is nearly full. But iTunes still added the WMA files to its library; and now whenever I sync with the iPod, iTunes hangs for about 10 minutes while it works out that it can't transfer all these WMA files. Is there an easy way to delete them from iTunes? I do NOT want to have to go through track-by-track, as there are several thousand of them.
Third problem: for use with the Squeezebox, I've added artwork to each album as a JPEG file in the album folder. For the many albums I have that are not found in the iStore, all I seem to be able to do is to select all the tracks of each album, do Get Info, then drag the JPEG into the Artwork box. Again, this isn't something I want to have to do for several hundred albums. Is there really no way to tell iTunes to get the artwork for each album from a file in the album folder?
Fourth problem: I thought that I could select a large number of tracks and do "Get Artwork" from the iStore, so at least some of the above tedium could be avoided. But if I select more than a screenful or two of tracks (in the with-artwork view), then Get Artwork just hangs after 5 albums or so. I can still use iTunes for other things, but now Get Artwork won't work until I quit iTunes and restart.
Fifth problem: trying to switch the iPod to "manually managed" has resulted in its entire contents being replaced with one album when I dragged-and-dropped it onto the iPod icon. (See my earlier post on this.)
Sixth problem: if - as it looks - iTunes did populate itself by reading my .m3u playlists, why didn't it recreate the playlists themselves? I've built up a large number of playlists for use with both the Squeezebox and our Zens, so it'll be a pain to have to recreate those by hand in iTunes. Can it really not do this?
I'm seriously considering uninstalling iTunes, wiping its library, then doing whatever it takes to make sure that it only finds music when I want it to! But I thought I was already doing that; and I don't plan to go through very many wipe-and-restart iterations!
Yes, this looks like a bit of a moaning list; but I need to decide fairly quickly whether I'm going to return my iPod because it doesn't fit in with how I want to organise and use my music. (I also need to test the iPod itself to see if it fits my requirements as a player; there are some surprising shortcomings compared to my old Zen Touch, but it's possible I just haven't learned the interface yet.)
Perhaps I should consider trying something other than iTunes, such as Anapod; might it be a better match for my requirements? (My wife and I already use Notmad for our Zens, and think it's far better than Creative's own tools.)

Second problem: I told iTunes not to convert my WMA
files during setup. This would create AAC copies in
my iTunes folder, and my disc is nearly full. But
iTunes still added the WMA files to its library; and
now whenever I sync with the iPod, iTunes hangs for
about 10 minutes while it works out that it can't
transfer all these WMA files. Is there an easy way
to delete them from iTunes? I do NOT want to have to
go through track-by-track, as there are several
    thousand of them.
OK, answering one of my own questions: I realised that I can add a "Kind" column to the tracks view, then order on that. This puts all the WMA tracks together, so I can select them all and then hit Delete.
If only the remainder didn't look so few.
I've yet to see what will happen when I sync my iPod...

  • ITUNES NOT ADDING SOME MUSIC TO LIBRARY

I updated my itunes and ipod to the most recent versions and now I have problems.
I'm losing patience and I am extremely angry.. My library and Ipod were working perfectly before the last update now I have major issues with Itunes not recognizing some songs that were already succesfully addedto my library.
Itunes no longer recognizes about 20% of the music in my library. I tried everything . Re-installs, re-adding folder, re-adding file etc... The only thing that has worked is deleting and re-adding the CD, BUT I REFUSE TO DO THIS FOR 100'S OF CD'S ALL OVER AGAIN !!!
ALSO ALL OF MY FILES WORK FINE IN WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER AND WIN AMP... IT IS ONLY ITUNES THAT HAS THIS ISSUE.
I want some one to tell me why all other software runs these files fine but itunes won't. I have way to many songs to go back an re-enter all my music. It would take me months to do this and I WILL NOT DO THIS.
    I WANT A FIX !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am having the exact same problem. iTunes stopped playing about 20% of the songs that were previously imported into my music library. The songs are listed in the library, but when you click on them to play, nothing happens. They used to work perfectly. I deleted the entire library and re-added my collection, and those songs that stopped playing were not included in the new library. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, then re-added my collection, and those songs were still missing.
The songs are still on my hard drive, will play in Windows Media Player, and will also play in QuickTime! I've tried ading the songs individually, adding the folders, double clicking on the song in Windows Explorer to see if it will play and be copied over...and nothing.
    This is VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

  • Adding & removing music on the iPhone

as a long-time iPod user, I immediately see that the way the iPhone uses music is very different -
is there a tutorial somewhere that describes the differences? I can't quite figure them out on my own - so far it seems that you can't just open the music library, the way you can with an iPod, and you can't drag & drop folders of music right into it.
so far, the only way I have found to do that is to sync a playlist - and I still don't know how to get music OFF of the iPhone - or how to directly access the music library, the way one can with an iPod...
    w

    WillFriedwald2,
The iPhone supports automatically syncing which was one of the ways to sync with your iPod. It sounds like you are more familiar with manual syncing which is not supported on the iPhone or iPod Touch.
The iPhone mirrors what is in the playlists you are syncing. If you remove a song from a playlist that is synced to the iPhone, the next time the iPhone syncs, the song will be removed from the iPhone.
I use 3 playlists, plus the "Recently Added" smart playlist when syncing with my iPhone. I share an iTunes library at home with my wife, and our tastes in music are completely different. However, there is some music we both like, and if she adds a song, it will sync to my iPhone for 2 weeks, during which time I can decide to put it in one of my playlists.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • When playing music, at the end of a song, instead of playing the next song in an album, it repeats the song that was just played

When playing music on an Ipod Nano, at the end of a song, instead of playing the next song in an album.  The previous song repeats.  Any help?

Check the iTunes Playback preferences and see if the Crossfade Playback option is turned on. If it is, you can either uncheck it or alter the slider to a more pleasing setting.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I get reinstalled itunes to reload my music in the itunes folder on drive D?

I previously moved my itunes folder to D. I had to reinstall itunes and now I don't know how to get it to see my music and my old playlists. Thank you in advance for any help.

If depends on which method you used. If you moved your entire iTunes folder out to D: then you may need to hold down SHIFT as you start iTunes, click Choose and then browse to the folder containing the library database. If you only moved the media folder then your library will normally be in <User's Music>\iTunes.
Is this the same machine you previously used iTunes on or have have moved the drive. Uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes should have any effect on the contents of your library. Perhaps this is the advice you need...

  • I recently bought a new computer, downloaded itunes and all my music from the cloud, made a few more purchases on itunes then plugged in my ipod and it wont sync. My ipod is already associated with my itunes account and the computer is authorised...

I have a new laptop which will not sync my ipod to it. I've registered the computer, this is the only ipod associated with this itunes account. It shows the syncing symbol on the laptop and on the ipod but then when i eject the ipod afterwards the new songs have not transfered or my playlists.

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not an iTunes "account."  The account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use to sign in to the iTunes Store and make purchases.  It is also used with iCloud.  iPods (that are not iPod touch) are associated with your iTunes library, not to your Apple ID.
So, I think you probably just need to set up (or update) automatic syncing for the iPod.  If it's not set up to sync those new songs, iTunes still syncs the iPod, but it syncs nothing
In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of iTunes window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  In the sidebar, the iPod appears under DEVICES, when it is connected.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music (if it's not already checked).  If your iTunes music library fits completely on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  On the lists below, checkmark the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres that you want on the iPod.  When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.
One convenient way to set this up (if you can't sync the entire iTunes music library) is to create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  Name it "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want).  Put ALL songs that you want on the iPod on this playlist, including those new songs.  Back on the iPod's Music screen in iTunes, select this playlist under Playlists.  Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.
