ITunes is blank!

I pulled up my iTunes the other day and it was completely blank? Not sure how it happened, but I haven't touched the iTunes file in "my music".
Now even when I plug the iPod into the computer, the iTunes is still blank. There were over 1000 songs on it. Any idea how this could have happened and how I can get them back? The iPod still has all of the songs on it.

Okay everyone, I have an answer!!!! I contacted itunes support via email and this is what I was told to do. They say that most likely the songs are still on the hard drive, and you have to do a search, and restore them to the itunes library, so that's what I did. It found all of the ones my son had just purchased, but not all of the other ones that I had purchased. Anyway, here's what you do........
Start > Search> All files and folders. In the all files and folders space, type in either .m4p .m4v or .jpg
Then hit search..........if the songs are on the hard drive, they will come up with this search. Once you find them, you have to then restore them to your itunes library. Now, for me, that was a GIANT PAIN IN THE BUTT!!!!! For some reason, I had to click on each song, one at a time, highlighting it, then click the topic that says to "open the ?? that contains this file". Once that came up, I had to then move that file to my playlist. From there, I had to move it from my playlist to my previous itunes library. Once it was in there, I was able to go to itunes, and hit the file option, and import each song from that file, and they came back to itunes. So go figure.
If anyone has an easier way to restore the songs once you find them in the hard drive, let me know!!

    Hi Mikhailwong,
When troubleshooting iTunes Store connection issues, the following articles provide the best information:
First, try signing out of your account in Settings > iTunes & App Store. Once signed out, go ahead and sign back in.
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311
If the above did not resolve your issue, refer to the following:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
    - Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking on Check for Update in your device's Summary page in iTunes.
    - Check and verify that you are in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you are on a 3G capable device, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
    - Check to make sure you have an active internet connection. You can check the User Guide for your device for help with connecting to the internet.
    - Check to make sure other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the internet.
    - Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router
    - If the issue still persists see, iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connectionsor iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Itunes went blank after system restore

i did a system restore this morning and now itunes is blank -- no music, albums, artists, nothing. all of the music i had stored in itunes still appears on my ipod classic. my question is how to get it back into the itunes library. is there a way to copy it from the ipod to itunes? or do i need to reinstall itunes? if i do that, will i lose all the music already on the ipod?

*is there a way to copy it from the ipod to itunes? ............if i do that, will i lose all the music already on the ipod?*
If your iPod is set to sync automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
If at any point you get a message that your iPod is linked to another library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

I wanted to buy a song, but my itunes store screen in blank. What happened and what can I do about it?

Sign off from the itunes store under settings>itunes and app store and then sign on again.
If that doesn't do it, apparently toggling all of the icloud sync settings off and then on again for some reason fixes that issue.

  • HT1414 itunes page blank for iphone 4

    Hello,
I just restored my Iphone4.  After it was done, now in Itunes, it recognizes the phone when plugged in, however the itunes iphone page is blank.
This phone is straight from the apple store, no modifications, jailbreaking or changes.
    Anyone know what's going on?
    Thanks!

Firstly, I must say that I don't have the solution for the issue that you all are experiencing.  However, I do want to share my experience just in case it may shed light on mitigation of these issues.  I have been sitting with one of my granddaughters over the past two days at a Children's Hospital and thus using the Hospital's Public Wi-Fi Network.  While using that network I tried to go to both, the App Store and separately the iTunes App.  In both cases all I saw was a white or blank screen.  After trying this a few time I the got a pop-up saying something like App Store Connection Unavailable, or You Cannot Connect to iTunes.  From then on the Pop-up came on immediately when I tried to access either App.  All other iPhone functions worked normally.
This morning as I returned to my Home Wi-Fi Network, I tried each App.  Rather than opening normally they each took a little more time to open than was from prious connections, Normal openning time.  Bottom-Line is they both work.  I am wondering, if any of you have tried accessing these Apps (App Store and/or iTunes) while in a different Wi-Fi Network?  Oh, just for clarification, while at the Hospital, I did try each of these Apps with my Cell Data set to "On" and I got the same white screen and/or Pop-up notification.
My experience is only over a two-day period, and I did not drive back and forth trying the Access from Hospital to Home during those two days.  Consequently I can't be sure that the App Store and iTunes would have been available at Home when I was at the Hospital or not.  My guess is that it was not a wide-spread Outage, but rather something connected to the physical geography of the Hospital Environment.
Hope this may at least offer some context from which to try other possible resolutions for each of you.

  • Wife's iTunes is blank...how can I get the songs back?

My wife opened her iTunes today and it was blank - songs, videos, playlists, everything. Is there an easy way to get them back?
Under Preferences/Advanced it still shows the same iTunes Music Folder location that we've always used. It's just that iTunes doesn't seem to be seeing it...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Try holding down the Option key when opening iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in User/Music/iTunes. Look in there and see if you have more than one library file. If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

  • Itunes store blank screen

I've got itunes installed on my Win 7 PC and untila few days ao it was working fine. Now when I go to the itunes store I get a blank screen.  I did just get an iphone and can use the other screens in intunes but the store page never works.

I have had this frustration for a long time. The problem comes and goes and it was hard to figure out what was wrong. I have uninstalled and installed at least three times and still had the blank screen when I tried to view movies. The ONLY thing that has worked has been to logout from my Apple account (iTunes automatically logs me in) start a movie before logging back in. Once the movie is going, it seems to keep working even when I log back in. Note that I have the latest iTunes release and updates and that did not cure the problem. I hope one of the engineers that views this stuff will fix what seems like a small but extremely frustrating problem.

  • Search on iTunes appearing blank

Since upgrading to ios7 on my iPhone 4s I am unable to search for music in the iTunes Store. My screen appears blank. Please can you advice how to solve this?

There is no Power Search any more, if that's what you're referring to. The search box at the upper-right is the only search now.
    Regards.

  • Itunes 9 blank screen

I have a Compaq laptop with windows vista. Since upgrading to 9.0 I only get a blank screen in the itunes store. When I click on the store, the progress bar jumps to about halfway and hangs for a while, then ends, and all I have is the blank screen. Sometimes it says "ITUNES STORE" in the middle, sometimes nothing. I have tried all of the recommendations in apple support. I've also gone round and round with customer support. When I run diagnostics this is what I get.
Connection attempt to Apple web site was successful.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was successful.
Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was successful.
Secure connection attempt to iPhone activation server was successful.
Last successful store access was 2009-09-15 21:26:04.
One odd thing is that if I am on the blank store screen and I go to -view-show column browser- the browse feature will come up and I can browse.

    Hi,
I had the same problem and fixed it myself. I installed Itunes 9.0 and use windows desktop sharing. Initially I thought it had something to do with that as when viewing Itunes on my second screen the Itunes store showed just hyperlinks and a white background. I am not sure if Itunes is linked to your browser settings but whatever is your default browser (you may find IE is your default but you use Safari) it seems Itunes 9 may de-select your proxy setting.
This is the only setting I found was wrong on my machine after install. I am not sure if this was the solution as I also upgraded to Itunes 9.0.1.
It was strange as everything else worked, I could use all other functionality of Itunes so it has to be a connection problem between your pc and apple servers. I would also suggest you check how you are connected to the internet:
    * Are you using a firewall, proxy, internet connection sharing or filters on your home router.
    * Also it could be that if you are a remote worker your office has blocked connection to Apple servers or implemented new rules on certain traffic which impacts your connection. Try it working via open connection to the internet and an encrypted one using your company VPN.

  • Music in Itunes App blank.

So I get on iTunes on my iPhone and all seems well except for the music category. The screen is blank. I tried using it through my music player which works but when I preview a song and exit to browse other songs, the minimized song is half cut off. What's the deal? I factory reseted it and blah blah but nothing was resolved. I need help....help.

    Hi Macafreak,
I'd like to see if unchecking the "Sync Music" box, applying the changes, and then re-checking the box resolves this issue:
