ITunes is continually opening itself

ITunes is continually opening itself, and prompting me to reverify my iCloud account.  I have never used iCloud.  How do I get it to stop?  I'm being tortured by it, it interrupts everything constantly.  I've tried force quits, continually scrubbing Safari of cookies (especially since private browsing doesn't really work), and even removing all content from my itunes. Restarts seem to help for a short time.

Also check login items, system preferences.accounts users>login items, and get rid of any iTunes helpers or iTunes stuff.  Hope this helps.

  • Itunes 11 keeps opening itself

Itunes keeps opening itself while I'm working in an order program.
    This is very annoying.
I checked the settings but I can't find a solution.
    Can anyone help ?

This issue often occurs if you have an iDevice Syncing or Charging using your Mac.You probably have iTunes set to open automatically right after an iPod/iPhone/iPad is plugged in.If you have an iDevice plugged in,go to it's info screen and see if it's set to start iTunes automatically when it's plugged in.Also, see if the application is set to run on start-up.I hope this helps.

  • ITunes 7 Keeps Opening itself without my launching it!

OK, the wierdest thing keeps happening now, I close iTunes, it closes, then, a few minutes later it re-launches it self!
I'm rather paranoid about my music and my data so once a week I do a full backup to an extrnal hard drive of my documents, my music and my email. When I run the backup I make sure iTunes is closed as well as my mail client.
Today I closed iTunes as usual, started my backup and next minute iTunes was back! I closed it again, a few minutes later, back again. And so it has been going for about 15 minutes now. Does iTunes somehow sense that some program is accessing it's library and spring to life to protect itself or will I now never be able to turn off iTunes?
Anyone else having this most perplexing problem?
    Cheers,
    Bart.

  • ITunes is CONSTANTLY opening itself

i cant do anythiing else. its open 5 times whilst writing this. I cant use my computer =(

    Have same problem...
Occurred a few months back. Seems to be related with "hidserv". Kill service and problem goes away. Reinstalled itunes last time and problem went away for a few months. It is back again. Come home and itunes is open. Close it and it comes back a few minutes later. Try typing on keyboard in browser and it keeps popping open.
Had to kill hidserv to type in this message.
Not sure why reinstalling itunes fixed problem for about two months and now it is back.

  • ITunes keeps opening itself up

Hi, can somebody please tell me how to disable iTunes from continuously opening itself up for no paticular reason? I'm not sure why it started doing that but now every 2 minutes or so iTunes will just start itself up and it's getting incredibly annoying.
    help please!!

Go to System Preferences/Hardware CDs and DVDs and check if iTunes is set to open whenever you insert a disk of any kind (although music CDs is a natural choice, obviously)
Also, check your Login Items in System Preferences/Accounts for any iTunes related stuff
A likely cause can be found by making note of what you are doing when iTunes launches ... if you are working with media files of any kind -but potentially any kind of file - check to see what application is being opened by double-clicking that file (use Get Info).

  • 11.3.1.2 Itunes keeps opening itself, not connected to any devices!!!

I installed Itunes 11.3.1.2 as a clean installation on my laptop last week. Running Windows 7.
I have connected the Ipad Air ONCE only. Yet for the past 3 days itunes has randomly opened itself up, it's doing it when no one is home, when we're asleep etc.
Nothing is running that should open it, no widgets, no media players NOTHING absolutely nothing!!!!
I have searched the community and found a heap of ideas on what might be triggering it and tried everything on there that i can and nothing helps.........
Please any ideas will be fantastic its driving me nutty!!!!!!!!!

screenshots below of my itunes preferences:

This basically reset my driver and now everything works fine with getting it to show up in itunes, however is still will not allow me to use my personal hotspot. Ive noticed when i turn on personal hotspot on my phone i see this:
so obviously we are missing a driver or something that enables the personal hotspot to function correctly. I just can't seem to figure out where that is located.
    UPDATE***
i went to the folder that was by the previous driver i updated
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\NetDrivers
    i selected netaapl64.inf
and now Personal Hotspot works and it shows up in device manager like this:
hopefully this helps whoever else is having this issue

  • ITunes opening itself without being asked to!

In recent days iTunes has started opening itself and begun playing the playlist- I have not changed any settings etc. I have also checked the preference panel, and cannot see anything there that has changed. This is becoming a real pest!!!
    Any ideas???

This is usually related to third-party apps or widgets that are attempting to talk to iTunes. If you have any such items, disable them and see if it stops.
Just curious...does iTunes only do this when you first startup? (If so, it could be listed in your Startup Items in System Prefs.) If it keeps launching repeatedly after you've quit it, go with my first suggestion.

  • Obscure itunes css file opens at startup

Beginning recently, an obscure itunes file will open itself at startup. It is always the same file, here is its full path: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/ru.lproj/iTunes Help/sty/genlist_style.css
As far as I can tell, it is a style sheet for some kind of help window in Russian iTunes (I'm not Russian)
The file will open in Coda, which is my default application for .css files; if I change that to TextWrangler for example, it opens in TextWrangler.
I have looked at the Console to try and learn more about what's happening at startup to cause this, but there's no mention of a genlist_style.css
I've been coming to Apple support forums for a while now, but this is the first time I couldn't find the answer somewhere. Please help me figure out what's causing this to happen.

Thanks for the great eye-opening remarks -- I guess I didn't realize that computers / Macs / Unix / software etc. was just so complex / sophisticated. Again, an eye-opener ---
---but glad to say that my problem doesn't seem to need major work --(fortunately!) - it turned-out that when I now started using my MacBook with the 320 gb HD there were 3 things (2 UNIX files and 1 folder) that somehow appeared in the "LOGIN AT STARTUP" section of the ACCOUNTS preference! I removed them and all is back to 100% OK!
Again - I really appreciate your reply and this opens the door to me learning a lot more about computers!
    Regards,
    Steve

  • Itunes Opening itself every 2 minuites - APPLE NOT LISTENING

Itunes is opening itself every two minutes and playing music. I do not have any 'devices'  plugged in. It is not enabled for startup. I remember having this problem a year or so ago with another update on an older operating system but that fix does not work. Now regrettably running Lion ( hate the new mission control) so as not to lose my mobileme. There are obviously many people with this itunes problem,  yet there are no replies from Apple in the discussion forums and once again no help from them either. I have been a mac user since my Mac classic nearly 20 years ago and am now so tired of having to continually sort out, find patches, try to get things to sync with apple that I cant believe I'm saying this I'm thinking of actually buying a P.C. I waste so much of my day trying to fix things going wrong on my mac that actually having one is costing me my work time. SORT IT OUT APPLE.

  • Why does Itunes 10.6 keep opening itself (Windows7 64 bit)

Ok so this has been driving me nuts if I open iTunes once it will continuely reopon itself and with my computer it happens within seconds after closing iTunes. I went to the specific 64 bit download page from apple for iTunes. I have uninstalled itunes then went through and removed every apple file I could find on my hard drives. After doing this tedious task I reinstalled using their "64bit Client" and the problem presists. The only work around I have found is to change itunes.exe and ituneshelper.exe to windows 7 compatiblity mode and change it to run as administrator. But now when I try to use wifi sync iTunes cannot open. I have been reading and everyone says close third party apps, but I have none. I even uninstalled my Logitech G15 software thinking that was causing the problem. I know apple have gone the way of "we are a hardware company" but I don't see why they have to create absolute garbage software like this which runs their hardware. It happened during 10.5.4 and now 10.6, and from what I can see other people have been having this issue way before me.

Refer to this discussion link.  It's the Logitech Gaming software.

  • ITunes keeps opening itself

I recently updated my software and I also recently started using a Shuffle with my iMac - I'm not sure which is causing the problem.
I have iTunes 6.0.2, and it keeps opening itself automatically. Not when I start up my computer, but if I have iTunes open and then quit the application, it will just open itself right back up approximately 1-2 minutes later. It doesn't do anything - doesn't access the Music Store or start playing music - it just opens itself. So annoying!
Does anyone know how to make it stop doing this? Is it possible I have it set to automatically open for some reason?
    Thanks!
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Coupla dumb questions:
Are you actually "quitting" iTunes by going to the iTunes Menu > Quit iTunes or by the keyboard (Command+Q)?
Or are you just clicking on the red button at the top of the program window, which actually does not quit the program. (The program is still open if you see a small rectangle symbol under the icon in the dock.)
Also check your System Preferences > CDs & DVDs and make sure you don't have iTunes set to open when you insert a blank disc, dvd or picture CD.

  • ITuns keeps opening itself

    Hi guys!
my problem is just as the subject says!
    Itunes keeps opening itself
I tried everything but can't get around this. NOTE: didn't have ituneshelpper to open at login in the first place.
First i tried deleting itunes preference files - didn't work
Tried removing every app i could think of that could be interfering with iTunes - didn't work
Tried to trash ituneshelpper app from itunes package contents - nothing changed
At this time i think i had itunes 10.7 installed for a while i.e. i think it wasn't since upgrading that this problem began
then i tried uninstalling iTunes and do a fresh install - kept opening itself at login and periodically if i closed it
tired removing itunes preference files again to no success
tried to remove itunes helper at this time because it appeared at login items - no luck! even tough i removed it from login items several times it kept appearing there and even at exhaust (a login items app) all this after trashed the itunesHelper from itunes package contents again!!
At this time decided to re-install Lion again form HD recovery drive!
After this iTunes stopped opening at login only to find that i had to install the latest version (10.7) because the library was created by a newer version and as such it wouldn't open!!
after updating iTunes it started all over again!!!
And now for a little side problem - might mouse center and side buttons stopped working as well as secondary button!!! can't get around that also!!!
    Help, please!!!
    i'm running lion 10.7.5
Sorry fort the long post and thanks!!!

    Hi,
I bought a new core i5 macbook pro a couple of days ago and started getting this problem about 2 hours ago and didn't know what was happening. Everything was disabled, including taking the battery from the remote out, yet itunes was still starting up.
I just found something but not sure if it's the cause of the problem. My audio cable was not connected properly and when i moved it, itunes would start up again, and kept moving it and kept starting up, and while open, i would move it again and it would play songs. I disconnected it and plugged it back in, tried moving it and it would not start itunes. I think this has to do with the port supporting the apple earphones with remote on them. Lets hope this fixes it and if so, hope it helps others.

  • Itunes opening itself

Itunes keeps opening itself on my macbookpro. I thought it might be the music sharing wirelessly. I changed my setting to no sharing, ended the program and turned off airport. A minute or so later the program was open again on my desktop.
Has anyone ever seen this or know how t stop it.
It randomly drains my battery life.
    Thanks!

    alexandrakgallery,
    Welcome to Discussions.
The most obvious reason is an iTunes related Widget.
If you have one or more, disable it/them and see if it helps.
If it does, enabling them again, usually will not cause the problem again.

  • ITunes keeps opening itself when I connect to my Bluetooth speaker

Every time I connect my computer to my Bluetooth speaker, iTunes automatically opens itself. I can't figure out what causes this, but it's annoying and I would like for it to stop. Does anyone know what causes this? Thanks in advance

http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1666895  but it might work to just disable iTunesHelper.  If you do that you may have to start iTunes whever you want to sync a device instead of it autostarting.
