ITunes is evil like the ouijia board...

I keep throwing it away, but it keeps coming back!! I'm a little scared.
All the trouble started when I downloaded iTunes 7. I went to buy a video, and iTunes informed me I couldn't buy it w/o updating. So I figured, cool, they realized they have a couple glitches in the last update and are fixing it. WOW WAS I WRONG! Went to download said video and my computer proceeded to reboot itself. Tried to download the video several more times, still got the reboot. Sent an email in to tech support, got an email back telling me to uninstall then reinstall. So I did, then the video downloaded beautifully and all was well...for a while...dun dun DUN!
And then, my PC started randomly rebooting whenever it felt like it. Basically I did a bunch of trouble shooting which led me right back to the conclusion that the trouble was caused by iTunes. So, I went to completely uninstall iTunes 7 and hopefully reinstall the old iTunes that came with my iPod. I followed the instructions from apple on completely uninstalling iTunes, plus used CCleaner, deleted and dumped everything I was told to. Reinstalled the old version of iTunes, then when I went to open iTunes I got the message that iTunes could not open because some file something or another had been created by a more advanced version of iTunes and couldn't be read.
I did everything the apple instructions said to do. It's possesed I tell ya. Is there an exorcist in the house?? I don't want to have to burn my computer...

Hi Welcome to Apple Discussions.
*Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash*
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the *Previous iTunes Libraries* folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename *iTunes Library.itl* as *iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl* and then rename the restored file as *iTunes Library.itl*. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch (Windows) or Music Folder Files Not Added (Mac) and Super Remove Dead Tracks (Mac) for tools to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working *make a backup!*

'Show duplicates' is now under the 'View' menu. To see the 'Date added' column go to 'View options' from the 'View' menu and check it in the section under 'Stats'.
Click an audiobook once to select it and hit command-i (Mac) or control-i (Windows). Go to the 'Options' tab and set 'Media Kind' to 'Audiobook'.

How can I get the new version of iTunes to work like the old one?

When I upgraded to iTunes 11, the next time I synched to my iPods etc, many, if not most, of the favorite podcaststhat I had saved in my library got deleted. We are a Mac family and three of us download different podcasts to three different computers. All our dealings (purchases) have been handled through a single Apple ID account.
Since the change to version 11, all the podcasts are jumbled together. I want to subscribe to different podcasts than my wife or son, but our different computers are being treated as one. I'll click to be a subscriber and my son will get the downloads, and vice versa. What a mess!
Is the registry of all three units to a single Apple ID the source of the problem?

When you say "not possible," I assume you mean I can't get it to look like the old version. When I wanted to update the different podcasts, I could hit refresh and select from those available. That seems off the table. And what's with the confusion between computers?

My phone was sync'd now on the screen i get the plub and an up ^ the the itunes logo, seems like the phone is frozen

When the phone is not plugged into the computer the phone goes to sleep when I press the awake button it comes on for a couple seconds then goes back off. please help!

Is it possible to lock out the Key Board commands in Keynote?

Is it possible to lock out your key board actions in Keynote? This happened all of a sudden. My keyboard has no effect on my trying to change text colors or enter characters. By using the mouse to add text the text box appears but I cannot change the character color.I can change it with the mouse and the new color is displayed but when I type nothing appears as the default color is white and the background is white. I did a copy and paste from a previous slide and I can enter the line to start editing but nothing appears. Nor can I delete anything with the Key board. This is only happening in Keynote. If I use the Key Board to send an email everything works fine. Can type and use the delete button so it seems that the Key Board is fine with other Apps, this is just happening in Keynote. It seems like the Key Board actions are not taking place, it is as if the Key Board is locked out of the Keynote functions.

Try resetting Keynote as follows:
remove Keynote version 6.5, you must use an application removal tool for this procedure to work: Appcleaner is free, I use Appzapper
empty the trash
Shut Down the Mac (Apple menu > Shut Down)
wait 10 seconds, then press the power button
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key, release the Shift key when you see the grey Apple screen
start up will take a few minutes longer than usual as the Mac is performing a repair routine
restart the Mac normally, (don’t hold down any keys during startup)
install Keynote from the Mac App Store

Ugh. I think it's the logic board but not sure.

It freezes, wont start up. i reinstalled tiger and it froze again. from what ive been reading from all the forums its the logic board. i dont think the ram has anything to do with it. i started it in safe mode and it froze again. i did the "shift + ctrl + option + command+ repeatedly simultaneously hitting power. then wait 5 seconds and hit power again," and sometimes it starts. anything else i can do before someone at the genius bar ignores me and tells me to get apple care?

It definitely sounds like the Logic Board. Check the serial number against the serial numbers that are vaild for the Logic Board Replacement Program and hope (if you have a God, pray to it) that your's is one of the ones within the range because, otherwise, it's gonna cost you roughly the price of a new macbook to get it fixed. If it's covered, it's free.
Mine, unfortunately, wasn't covered so I now have a rather expensive paperweight that I will be finished paying off next month.

There are some add-ons and utilities that can make this process easier. The first one is the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109/ FEBE] add-on which can be used to copy a profile. Another option is the free [http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ MozBackup] utility.

How do I add simple text to a photo? For example, if I took a photo of a chalk board and wanted to add a date via Lightroom making it look like it was written on the chalk board, how would I do that?

I simply need to know how to do this. Everything online talks about doing this as a watermark feature or during Export only. I need to know how to do this during the Develop stage, if it's possible.
I took a photo of a couple for a pregnancy announcement shoot. We added a chalk board that had the date the birth is to take place written on it, but it didn't show as well when I reviewed the first couple pics. So I erased the chalk board thinking that I could just add the date via Lightroom, but I have been unable to figure it out. Any help would be very much appreciated.

To create a graphic watermark or identity plate for this purpose with a hand written chalk look you would need Photoshop or Elements to create a transparent PNG file so you might as well do the whole thing in one of those programs to start with. You can't do this in the develop stage anyway like you requested.

To do this in iMovie 11. use the SHARE menu. Share your project using the Share menu and choose Export Using QuickTime.
In the Dialog box that comes up, choose Sound to AIFF, or one of the other sound options. This will create a file that you can drag into iTubes.

No, the old album list view is not an option in iTunes 11...
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
If you still feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.
