ITunes is frozen during restore process. HELP!

I tried to update my iPhone 4 to the most recent iOS software and it would not work.  I backed everything up and then tried to restore my phone.  Now iTunes is frozen, the status bar is not moving any longer and it's not done.  What do I do now?

Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons until the iPhone begins to start, this usually takes about 10 seconds of holding both buttons. If not working, then reboot computer. Open iTunes on computer. Then connect iPhone to computer with USB Cable. Then hold both Home and Power buttons until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. This usually takes about 20 seconds of holding both buttons. Click the Restore Button of iTunes.

I forgot my passcode, so I was unable to access my phone. I then tried to restore it, but it has frozen during the process. It won't connect to my mac again and I can't stop the process because my lock button is broken. What do I do?

My first advice is "Back up the device, then have it replaced."  Second item of advice, "Don't forget your passcode."
One of the purposes of the lock button is to recover from certain software failures.  Without the lock button, such a recovery is nearly impossible.  My advice would have served you best when the malfuction first developed, not after you forgot your passcode.

  • IPhone unplugged during Restore Process, PLEASE HELP Restore!

    Hi guys,
I was Restoring my original iPhone through iTunes and during this process my brother unplugged
    the iphone from iTunes.
Now, I've been trying to restore again but the iTunes has prompted a little window that says
"Waiting for iPhone". I left it plugged in all night with iTunes on my Mac but it's stuck on that same
    message.
Can someone please help me with this issue?
    Thanks so much,
    Z

Try placing your iPhone in recovery mode.
Turn off your iPhone by holding the "Sleep/Wake" button for about five seconds and then sliding the red slider. If your iPhone is already off, there's no need to turn it on and then off again.
Once it's turned off, press and hold the "Home" button and plug the iPhone into your Mac.Keep holding the "Home" button until you see a dock cable pointing to the iTunes icon. iPhones running older software will display a yellow triangle and text which says "Please Connect to iTunes". You can now release the Home button.
Open iTunes (if it's not already open) and you will be told that "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode". Click "OK" and you will be taken to the iPhone pane. Click restore.

Hi, i have a 3gs 16gb, i have a problem since two days when i check safari, mail, msn just a moment after open the app this restart, and after 4 minutes restart alone, i think was a software problem and i restore today but when itunes was preparing the software to transfer on the iphone this restart again and appear wrong (9), but is recurrent, when i repit the process, just when itunes prepare the software to install this restart again...
please help me. i can solve that? or i need to go to technical assistance in my phone company?
    thanks...

You are not talking to Apple here, we are just users, and many will view another users problem and not respond because they have no idea what to say or do, However, according to Apple's support document regarding restore errors http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275
    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • ITunes stop working during restore

    Hi guys,
I'm from Penang. there is some problem with my phone. during updating to ios 5.0.1, suddenly my phone stuck and after that, the apple logo keep on appearing. i tried to restore but somehow, during restoring my phone, iTunes stop working because windows detect some problem. already tried several times but still failed. now my phone still in recovery mode. can anybody help me?
    thanks

Have you tried running the network and connectivity diagnostic?  Might give you more info too.  See if you are the admin user, see if it says iTunes not allowed through firewall. Also, can you see the iTunes store pages?
But yes, uninstalling your security software would be a good troubleshooting step.

I've been doing some Restore Catalogs to move my PSE from an old pc to this new one.
My old pc was Win XP.
I've noticed that the Restore process creates what looks like a second 'My Pictures' folder
in my folder structure. Inside this My Pictures there is an Adobe folder which has an Other Pictures folder.
All of these folders are empty.
All of my images go into a second 'My Pictures' folder. I'm puzzled why I'm getting this extra
My Pictures folder. I thought it might have something to do with Homegroup. The icon for the folder
looks a little different than the other folder. Anyway, I believe I have disabled the Homegroup feature.
Thanks for any help of advice!

    OK.
It looks like it is something that comes with the Library support in Win7.
'My Pictures' seems to be a label. The actual directory node comes out
    as 'Pictures'.
I removed the 'Public' directory from the Library for Pictures.
And customized the look of Windows Explorer so that I see what I want
    to see now.
    Thanks!

  • Itunes download 3.1.2 - frozen during download & need help

I'm trying to download 3.1.2 on my Itunes, but it seems to have frozen and "locked", telling me I still have 3 hours left to install. I don't have a ton of stuff on my computer that would cause it to be so slow, so I don't know how to fix the situation. Help. Anyone have any advice or know how to fix this? Thanx

There has been a long-standing issue with the way iTunes handles Podcasts when there are multiple episodes available.
When your iTunes Library checks for new episodes of subscribed Podcasts, it will download only the latest one. This is fine if there is only one episode since iTunes last checked. But if there are two or more, then iTunes still only downloads the latest one, and ignores the previous episodes. Apple's apparent attempt to resolve this issue is to show the other episodes, but with the download cloud icon next to them. All well-and-good, but it's not obvious that this is what is happening, particularly when the Unplayed Episode Count includes those non-downloaded episodes.
What compounds this issue is that the in-the-cloud episodes are listed in the Podcasts Library, which up until that change, only included media actually in your Library.

My question is: What else do I have to set so that the podcast episodes I have subscribed to are automatically downloaded?
Submit a product Enhancement Request as feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html, although I suggest you don't get your hopes up. I submitted one a long time ago, but all Apple has done is introduce the "cloud" episodes, which has not solved the problem.

I have subscribed to almost 100 podcasts and I should not have to go to each one in Library | My Podcasts and manually select the newest episodes. Am I not following the directions? Is there another step I have missed?
Please tell me how to have my subscribed podcasts download automatically.
The only thing you can do is set your iTunes to check for new episodes frequently enough to catch all the new ones.
However, even this may not be enough. There is a BBC programme that releases up to three new episodes every day, all within one hour. So even once and hour will not catch all three of these.

  • What do I do when iTunes doesn't open during restoring process for an ipod?

I am following the prompts for restoring an ipod with a forgotten password. I have connected the usb cable to my computer and the usb and iTunes symbols appear but nothing else is happening. What do i do now?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • Help, data not showing up during restore process.

I recently recieved a replacement phone and all the restore option is doing is restoring my apps.  All account info is gone, as well as data stored in the memos application.  Any suggestions?  I'm using a Palm Pre on Sprint.
This has worked flawlessly prior.  And I did a backup of my phone prior to wiping and restoring the new phone.

  • Ipod freezes during Restore process...it keeps restoring forever

I ve had very serious issues with itunes 7.
First, it didnt recognize the ipod, then after a few changes itunes finally recognized the ipod. Now after doing every recomendation in this forum I have no ipod showing in my computer (but its shown in the down right corner though as a usb mass storage).
When itunes recognizes it, it tells me I have to restore it and everything goes smoothly. But thats it...its says its being restored but it isnt. I ve wasted days trying to "restore" the ipod and it never ends.
I have no clue with this one, and yes, I did reinstall itunes a few times. I need some help please.

I cannot stand this. I got my new iPod mini silver today. Plugged it in, wasn't detected in iTunes. I tried again, and again. FINALLY, it was detected. Said it needed to be restored, because it was formatted for macintosh. I clicked okay. It restored for an hour. I Ctrl + Alt + Deleted iTunes and terminated the process. I formatted 'removable disk' using windows explorer. It gave me the folder/! icon. Then I tried again. It restored again, forever. Somebody really really really needs to fix this.
