ITunes is incredibly slow on pc

Switching over from podcasts to music is very slow in iTunes.
Turning on iTunes Match is slow too.

Actually, yes, something I completely forgot about - itunes can be abysmally slow if you have a lot of playlists.
Two other things to try - use MSCONFIG to start your PC as outlined in this article and see if itunes runs any faster. This rules out some other software causing a conflict with itunes.

The 2nd thing is to create a new blank library, add all your music, and see if that one is any faster on the response time.
For a new library, do a shift-start of itunes. Press *AND HOLD* the shift key, keep pressing until you get the prompt to create a new one. Name it something you can find easily later, like iTunesTest.
After you run the test, you get back to your original library with another shift-start. iTunes always tries to use the last ITL it opened.
