ITunes is lagging when I try to open it, syncing problems.

Over the past week, Whenever I have tried to open up iTunes, I have gotten a message saying that Windows needs to configure iTunes.
The thing is I have had iTunes for 4 months and I have not had this issue until now.
Also, I added some of my music today and tried to sync it with my iPod, and it would not add the music to my library.
I have already uninstalled iTunes twice and deleted and re-added all of my music.

Whenever I have tried to open up iTunes, I have gotten a message saying that Windows needs to configure iTunes.
That's a repair install of iTunes. The advertised shortcuts are detecting either a damaged program file or registry entry in your iTunes setup and trying to repair it.
Are you getting any messages about registry entries in addition to the repair installs?
Were there any error messages reported during the iPod syncs?

Try updating your QuickTime to the most recent version. Does that clear up the DEP errors in iTunes?

Quicktime and iTunes "quit unexpectedly" when I try to open them

I'm getting an error message whenever I try to open either Quicktime or iTunes saying that the application quit unexpectedly. The error report (for both Quicktime and iTunes) says (amongst other things):

Thread 0 Crashed with PPC thread state 64

"iTunes quit unexpectedly" when I try to open iTunes

I've been trying to transfer my iTunes and iTunes library over to my external hard drive. At first it seemed successful, but now when I try to log back in I keep getting an error message saying that iTunes quit unexpectedly. The error report says (amongst other things):

Itunes quits responding when i try to open prefrences

I have two profiles on my computer; an administator account for my self, and a user account for my daughter. After installing itunes on my account I had to swithsc to her account for something and was suprised to find that as soon as I opened her account itunes also began an install there. She has an ipod touch so I liked this process. Unfortunatly after itunes installed on her profile I tried to open "prefrences" under the edit tab to install music and apps for her. Every time I try to open "prefrences" itunes quits responding. It seems to be the only tab that freezes itunes. I checked and it is the most current version of itunes. Any one got any ideas?

Yes, you should be on Quicktime version 7.7. by now. Have you ever used Software Update?

HT1338 iTunes seizes up when I try to open podcasts after the recent update

I recently updated iTunes. Now whenever I try to listen to a podcast iTunes freezes and is completely unresponsive. Has anybody else had this problem? Can I simply reinstall iTunes? Will I lose any music that I've added?

You can reinstall iTunes. You shouldn't lose any music because it is stored in your user directory. Do a backup just in case.

Take the unpacked components of the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe file and move them to the root of drive C:. Try installing them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe which drives the original installer, or iCloud.msi unless you have Vista). You may get a more useful error message regarding any problems during the install.

You can triple-click a line to select all of it, then press Ctrl+C to copy, switch to the command box and click the icon at the top left of the window to access the paste menu. Which components you have depends on whether you've unpacked the 32-bit or the 64-bit installer.
The log files might provide further clues as to what is going wrong.

ITunes crashes when I try to open newly download version

Hi. I downloaded the new iTunes update and when I try to open iTunes it Updates My iTunes Library and when it's 3/4ths of the way through updating iTunes freezes and then closes. What should I do.

I figured this out. I deleted my old iTunes library archive/.xml files, then re-added everything and then when it froze one one particular song I removed that song and everything was fine. Rather tenuous and annoying way to fix this but sadly only way I could think of.

HT1925 I get a message saying The feature I am trying to use is on a network resource that is unavalable when I try to open iTunes.

When I try to open iTunes a widow appears called Windows Installer. It tells me that the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavalable. It tell me to Click OK or try again or enter an alternative path to a folder containing the intallation package iTunes.msi. I suggests I should find this in a drop down box in the window. There is a box but no folder iTunes.msi. If I click the cancel button iTunes will open and work. I wish to uninstall iTunes and then reinstall it. I am finding that I can play music on iTunes OK through my sound card but if I try to play streamed music from the web in YouTube and fom My Space the music is a poor quality with crackles and distortion. Other forums suggest uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing it. I ahve tried to uninstall iTunes but it comes up with the Window noted above and then stops. I need to stop the crackle when streaming music. Please help.

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
