Itunes is mixing up my songs and titles

Hello, I recently changed from PC to Mac. I transfered all my music and everything was fine. All of the sudden after everything was fine for a week, my itunes started to play the wrong songs (or the index is off) When I play one song it says it is playing that song but another song actually plays or only the last half of another song and the first half of one are mix into a song. example: I hit play on "your the best thing" by Ray Lamontagne and it says it is playing that song but I hear "sabotage" by Beastie Boys. Or I played a Bob Dylan song and instead it started halfway through an Alanis Morsette song. It also transfers to my ipod this way. This has happened a few times now and I have to uninstall itunes then reinstall it, and reinstall all my music. This has never happened on my PC. Please someone help, Could it be because all my music is on an external drive??

In iTunes I click on a song and when I click on the "get info" tab, it opens up but everything is gray - locked, therefore, I cannot edit the year or genre of the songs. Not every song is locked, only certain ones for some reason. Any help?

I ran into the same problem, I think that, If you tab on a song that is on your IPOD, and the song data is grayed-out, I think it means that the song is probably twice on your IPOD and that the iTunes directory can not edit THAT song data for two (or more) files @once. Check if this is the case, sinceI have the same problem,am looking for a way to have One and the same song in more playlists but only keep the song once on the IPOD.

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entry, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.)

I want to buy a Ipod Nano 16gb and it says it holds up to 4,000 songs, and 16 hours of video but on my Itunes I have 2,593 songs and it says I have 19.88 gb. How is this possible?

How is this possible? If I buy the Nano, will I not be able to have all my songs on the ipod? The music is my first and only prioarity. I want to be able to have up to at least 3,000 songs, even if that means not having video or pictures. Can someone please help me?

The estimated song capacities, such as 4000 songs in 16 GB, are based on 4 minute songs of 4 MB each, which is what you get at 128 encoding.
Most of us nowadays use well above 128. (For example, the iTunes Store and Amazon MP3 both sell songs only in 256.)
However, you can still make more songs fit! When you sync your iPod, use the option to "convert higher bit rate songs," as pictured. Choose 128. This fits more on the iPod, but does not change the songs in your library.

I have a new iphone but I want it to be separate from my old iphone as far as what is on it. If I set it up as a different phone in itunes, can I still load songs and apps from my other phone onto my new phone?

Thanks. I messed up with my husbands iphone because I was told the wrong thing. Now everytime I sync his phone it makes it look just like the other phone I had. Change how it syncs by enabling Manually manage music and videos, then you can drag and drop the music that you want on your iPhone. Revert it back to test to see if that resolves the issue.

HT4061 I need to sync my iphone and ipad to my new computer. I just downnloaded itunes in it. my song and album files are not in the new downloaded itunes. how do I import them in?

My iTunes will only play one song and then stops.

In a playlist, my iTunes will play only one track and then it stops. Won't move to the next song, won't work in shuffle mode, just plays once and that's it! Any ideas? This just started a few days ago, maybe with a recent iTunes update? I'm in 11.0.3 (and of course, my AppleCare has just expired).

I would check to make sure that the songs in your playlist are check in the checkbox section. If they are not the songs will play and then stop once it is done playing like you have described.

Itunes doesn't play certain songs and just stops working

it was fine a couple of weeks ago but now it just doesn't play some songs and whenever I doule click those songs it went straight to "Itunes has stopped working." and I have to close the program. Today I just bought a song from Itunes store and it doesn't play either and Itunes stops working as well!!
Please help. this is so annoying.

ITunes 11 has renamed my songs and albums without my permission!

In my itunes, years ago as i acrued single songs, i would edit the song information such as album name, so that each of these singles would appear in one album called "SINGLES." I do not want 10,000 albums in my itunes that all contain one song each. Now, in iTunes 11, iTunes has gone and automatically edited the "Get Info" on all my songs and re-sorted all of my singles back into their original albums. I do not want to have to go through all of my singles and edit the "get info" again. How can I get my singles back into a SINGLES album?

Pehaps a variation of the tool in this thread would allow you to recover the old metadata. What fields have been modified?

ITunes will quit working mid-song and will skip around entire library.

In the most recent iTunes version running on windows 7, iTunes will not play through an entire song and skips around the entire library of music. Sometimes only the first few seconds of a song will play, and sometimes a little over a minute will play before it starts skipping around. iTunes has been uninstalled and reinstalled, and all the drivers have been uninstalled and reinstalled, and the computer is fully updated. This issue doesn't happen consistently or for any particular songs, and is very frustrating because it seems so random. All the music files used to work just fine, and no settings have been changed since it worked. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated!

The simplest way to remove the song is to remove it from the Up Next list.
Click on the Up Next icon and when you hover the cursor over the song, you will see an X appear to the left of the song. Click on the X to remove it.

Will iTunes select all exact duplicate songs and delete each duplicate?

I have about 20K exact duplicates and would like to have iTunes select and remove one dulicalte of each song to avoid manually selecting ever other song and removing. Possible?

Itunes will not do that. You can check third party utilties such as Dupin (Duplin?). I would not trust any utilty to automatically delete duplicates. There's a few tracks I have on albums where they are given the identical name but are not identical. A tool would not tell that.
iTunes will find duplicates, but then it's up to you to decide if they truly are. Be careful. Occasionally an item somehow gets listed twice and if you delete the "duplicate" plus file it deletes the orginal too. I always hand sort duplicates.

i have tried to sync my ipod and backup but it has only done one song that was an old dance song from class... i only have over 2000 songs ... and i have gotten them all from cds or mates cds or bump and than had put them on my windows computer but i have transfered to a macbook pro and it wont let me put all my songs on my itunes

I had this problem with an old shuffle. So I used the old fashioned method. Select the music and drag and drop it into you iPod this worked for me
