Itunes is not connecting songs with data (my itunes is a mess)
For some reason, i have two itunes folders and my libraries got seperated at one point. There are alot of songs in my library that itunes cannot locate original file. I found the folder that has all these songs. I added this folder by adding the whole folder which was called "itunes06" to the itunes folder and then I also added the whole folder by using "file>add to libary" in itunes. Now all of the songs are in itunes however the rating was not matched up with the songs.
Now I have alot of duplicate songs. Each duplicate has a file that cannot find the original with the rating. The songs that can be located are missing the rating data. I have hundreds of songs that I went through and rated at one point in time, and there is no way I am going to do all that again. Why is the data not being linked to the newly added songs. Is it because I have all the songs "itunes06" in its own folder that is in the "itunes" folder. Should I moved all the contents (songs) from itunes06 to the itunes folder? If i did this would the data be linked?
Your Itunes can only have one folder. To set it up correctly go to iTunes preferences. Then go to Advanced.
You will see where your music should be in the folder location window. It will say something like /Volumes/HD/iTunes Music. All you music should be in this folder, if it is not then it will not work correctly.
If you want to use another folder you must do it from here by clicking the change button at the right hand side of the location window.

I just got an iPhone 4s, and I can not connect it with my iTunes from my previous account. I have already tried making another account, however it says that I have the wrong security code even though this is not true. What should I do?
Contact iTunes support. There's a link to it on the bottom of every page in the iTunes store.

BrazilHi Richard Gl ,
Welcome to the Apple Support Community!
I understand that your Logic Remote is not connecting. In this situation I suggest reading over the attached information and making sure that Logic Remote is set up correctly. I would also suggest trying to connect using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

X10 not connecting to mobile data networks after upgrade to Android 2.3
My X10 does not connect to GPRS / EDGE / 3G / HSDPA after the upgrade to 2.3. Wifi is no problem, though.
I used the SIM card in another X10 with Android 2.1, no problem, got an HSDPA connection. And yes, all the boxes are checked: "Data Enabled" and "Data Roaming";
I had problems before the upgrade to connect to data networks when roaming, but never in my home network. Now, it doesn't seem to work at all.
Any advice?go to settings -> sony ericsson -> data download
or
settings -> wireless & networks -> mobile networks -> access point names -> MENU -> add New -> enter the APN info -> MENU -> Save

Searching by artist name does not show songs with artists name in song title
If i search by an artist's name in itunes, it does not display songs by a different artist that have the artist's name in the song title, such as remixes that have a parenthesis, then the searched artist's name after with no space in between, like it used to. For example, I searched "Munchi" (artist name), and it showed songs listing munchi as the artist, but not songs with munchi in the title. In the old itunes, if I searched "munchi", the list of songs would include the song Chicken Lover (Munchi likes 'em fried moombahton remix), which is a song by the artist "bassanova", but now that song and songs like that (remixes) in which the artist im searching has their name in the song title but not as the song artist, are not included. This is a serious problem for me as it leaves out alot of songs which the searched artist has collaborated on out. In the old itunes i would get a list of any song which had the word "munchi" in any field, whether or not the word munchi had any letters or symbols before or after it.

Brand New C309g will not connect wirelessly with ANY wireless security options enabled
Printer will connect via wired ethernet. I can use the http utility.
Printer will connect via unsecured wireless connection.
Printer defaults to autoconfig (169.xxx)when connected via WEP (both open and shared), will not connect with a manual IP address. Cannot access http utility.
Printer won't even autoconfig when connected via WPA-Personal - instead says "No connection found."
Printer is in the same uncluttered room as the router.
ALL OTHER wireless network devices work fine and keep up with security changes.
I have legacy devices on the network that make me want to run with WEP.
I've run the HP Network Diagnostic. It can access my router just fine. It cannot find the printer.
Router is D-Link DIR-655.
I jump through the right hoops - refresh router, restore factory defaults on printer, etc. All other wireless network devices work fine.
I want to pull an "Office Space" on this brand-new printer - please save me from doing so!

This question was solved.
View Solution.Ooops, my mistake. Thanks for pointing it out.
Another idea is to make sure the firmware is updated on the router.
Also, from the control panel of the printer: Setup > Network > Wireless Network Test. It will self-test the printer radio.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

Printer Not Connected error with HP Wireless Printer
Hi everyone,
Just bought an iMac, first time ever using OSX and trying to add my new HP 2540 wireless printer. I've spent 4 hours on this so far and now looking for help!
I've followed every instruction to the letter - the wireless connection with the printer is fine as I printed off a report, it will print connected via a cable and it recognises my printer in applications and I have done the set up via disc about 20 times uninstallig each time and starting from scratch again. I've downloaded the latest driver from HP. All I get is a 'printer is not connected/printing looking for printer' endless bar when I click 'print'. It seems to be an issue of it not recogising it over the wireless connection despite it being connected to my router.
What am I doing wrong? How do I fix this?
Many Thanks!Connecting a printer is pretty simple if you follow Apple's process, ignore HP's guides!!
You can find Apple's instructions by clicking Mac Basics: Printing in OS X

WRT54G not connecting properly with Netgear switch
I have a WRT54Gv4 which I've been using as both a WAP and a wired switch. I now have too many wired devices to plug into the built-in switch, so I tried to expand the WRT54G using a Netgear FS108 8-port switch. The WRT54G and the FS108 both work perfectly well when not connected to each other, but all hell breaks loose as soon as I plug them together. If I plug the cable into a regular port on the FS108, then the "network activity" light on the corresponding WRT54G port blinks rapidly and continuously. If I plug the cable into the uplink port on the FS108, then the "network activity" light on the FS108 port blinks rapidly and continuously. I get around 50% packet loss trying to communicate between a computer plugged into the WRT54G and another computer plugged into the FS108. I've already tried 3 different cables between the WRT54G and the FS108, and all have exhibited the same problem. I have also tried all kinds of power cycling of the different devices, and nothing I have done has worked.
So I have two questions:
1) Has anyone successfully connected a Netgear FS108 to a WRT54G? If so, how did you do it?
2) Has anyone successfully used a Linksys SD208 or EZXS88W switch with a WRT54G? I'm going to buy one of these to replace the FS108 if nobody can answer the first question.
Thanks.
Message Edited by stharward on 06-09-2008 07:48 AMIf you have McAfee anti-virus, then I guarantee IT IS a McAfee + Vista issue. In the Firewall settings for Vista, enable Peer-to-Peer and add and enable ports TCP 5357, TCP 5358, UDP 3702, TCP 2869, UDP 1900, UDP 137, UDP 138, TCP 139, TCP 445. THEN, disable Vista Firewall and enable McAfee Firewall. Click on Internet & Network Protection and then Configure. This is where the McAfee Firewall protection is enabled. Click on the Advanced tab. Click on Grant Full Access and apply. Click OK, close out and reboot. Your system will utilize the McAfee Firewall and not the Microsoft one, and as long as you have WAP encryption and a private network, your Linksys router will allow printer and file sharing and be protected.

PLEASE HELP! ETHERNET CABLE IS NOT CONNECTING PROPERLY WITH FIOS ROUTER
I recently purchased a time capsule to use in conjunction with my mac. When I am prompted to connect the ethernet cable from the lan port on my fios router to the wan port on the tc, the cable will not connect properly to the lan port on the tc. If I connect it from the lan on the fios router to the lan on the tc the green indicator lights up to indicate a connection but this does not help the wan port situation. I am able to locate the network I created from my mac but this tc network is not connected to the internet as indicated by the amber blinking light on the front of the tc. Also since creating this non working tc network, my fios signal is almost non existant! I am new to all of this so any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!!
Don't worry about the cable. For now.
Set the TC to bridge mode.. In bridge there is no wan port.. so you can use any port on the TC.
Test with the TC plugged in FIOS.. use in turn all the ports to see if it will work.
Do not change any setting but bridge the TC from default.. ie do not set extend wireless.. that will totally foul it up. Do not use join wireless, that will triple foul it up. Absolute default.. set TC to bridge... plug into the FIOS.. ethernet to any port that the light goes on.
Do a snapshot of the TC setup from airport utility and post. -
ITUNES WILL NOT CLOSE, WILL NOT CONNECT SONGS, why, god, why
It just won't close. every time i exit it pops itself open a few seconds later. i told it to get rid of the icon in the system tray, that won't help either. why will it not just exit?
in related news, my ipod won't connect anymore. the computer gets as far as recognizing that there's hardware attached, but itunes will then freeze and not do anything and i have to unplug the ipod to get my computer working again.
somebody help!If anyone else can't play songs from their device in iTunes, try steps below which solved my problem:
Be sure your device is selected.
Right Click anywhere on Contents screen.
Select "Reset Plays" your selected song(s) should begin playing.
The "Pause, Play etc" buttons are no longer greyed out. -

Not sure what the issue is, if anyone can decipher this and let me know what's going on I'd really appreciate it. Thanks ahead of time! The Friend is on other Networks or you are on other networks or other friends on other networks ?
The most common problem apart form this that cause Error 7 are NAT issues.
http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/page15.html#CertainBuddy
There are about six main ways to do NAT (Network Address Translation)
There is no International Standard as such.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Networkaddresstranslation
Most domestic and commercial devices use NAT and realistically short of Bridging the device there is no way around using it.
As the first link suggests though some methods of opening ports seem to be less effected by the way NAT is done. Therefore UPnP tends to be a "Solution"
I did mention UPnP but you don't seem to have mentioned if that is the way you have allowed ports through the device.
I would also look in the firewall for this Actiontec.
IS it an On/Off Enable/Disable setting or is it four or so different levels.
If it works on Levels set it to Low or Off.

Help! iMac would not Connect/Find with Airport Extreme
Strange issue. I used to connect my Airport extreme with iMac, until recently iMac could not join with aiport. Instead my iMac connected to my neighbor's network. I'm using Time Warner cable.
However, my MBP and my Dell laptop could connect to my airport. Any ideas what could interfere with my iMac? I already called the Tech support and even went to the Apple store, they all said is the iMac since the iMac was able to connect with all the airports at the store. The tech support suggested me to move my airport to a room with less interference. Is that right? the iMac or the airport should I move?
We spent 2 hours, resetting back to factory setting and still iMac could not join Airport Extreme.
Any suggestions or advices are appreciated.
Tom
iMac Mac OS X (10.4.10)
Mac OS X (10.4.10)Thank you for your e-mail, Duane. Yes, the airport express (hooked up to my stereo in the dining room) does receive iTunes from my G5 in the office. The light is a blinking yellow, but it still receives the signal.
Last night, I was able to get an internet signal on my eMac (with airport extreme card installed) from the VersaLink router that my G5 uses in the office!
I figured out that the eMac and G5 were obviously not communicating with each other, and went to the Airport icon on the top of both screens to make sure that the Location Names were correct. I discovered that I needed to change the G5 from the Airport Express Location (stereo)to the name of the eMac location (Master Bedroom). Then I got the network connection. I suppose to play iTunes to my stereo, I will have to change the location, again, right?
Another comment: I was rather amazed that, after at least an hour and a half phone conversation with three different technicians, no one came close to this solution. And I'm paying for technical help (two years left on a three year contract)! Evidently, it is not common knowledge that a wireless router and an airport extreme card with mini-antenna can communicate? I came close to buying an Airport Extreme Base Station because I thought that I might need it!!!
So, I'm thinking I'm in the right ballpark but would welcome any more comments.
Thanks for listening.

Printer not connecting wirelessly with iMac
MacBook Pro working on OSX 10.4.11 wirelessly with Epson PX710W. Tried to add iMac on OS X10.5.8 but failure to connect on every attempt after numerous sessions with Epson Support. Have repaired permissions having previously run verification of HD which was reported OK. Reset printer system and reinstalled drivers without success. Still receiving message job stopped on both computers. On setting up the sample page to print, when selecting the PX 710W printer or the other printer option, there is a quick flash. Then the MacBook will not print due to 'communication error'. But if the PX710W is turned off and then on again, the MacBook will print.
Any help would be appreciated.Switch router to channel 1. Disable and remove all security on the router. Now try to connect to your unsecured SSID. Are you successful?

Report generated through BIP Server not in sync with data updated in DB
Hi,
We have an issue where the BIP report show up the old value instead of the latest updated & commited value done from Application(ADF) on the same session or transaction.
Does BIP have any caching mechanism implemented internally for a user context?
Detailed Explanation :
After verifying several scenarios, following are the scenarios which reproduced the cache issue in our application:
Case -1:
1) Logged in as user "User1".
2) Navigated to page where we can update data and we have option to print/generate the report.
3) Now made some updates in the page and saved it.
4) Now generate the report, report is generated with the updated information.
5) Now close the report generated and update the page with some other modifications and save it.
6) Now generate the report, but the report doesn't have the updated info.
Case-2:
1) Logged in as user "User2".
2) Navigated to page where we can update data and we have option to print/generate the report.
3) Generate the print profile report, you see the changes made above with "User1" login.
4) Now close the report generated and update the page with some more modifications and save it.
5) Now generate the report, but the report doesn't have the updated info.
Seems like, the request sent to BIP server is being cached at BIP server with its response considering the key with following format:
<Login User-id> + <Request Parameters> .
We are thinking this way because, in both Case-1 and Case-2, if we are modifying the request parameters values (fields to be shown in the generated report) uniquely for each new request,
then we are seeing the changes updated in DB are present in the report generated.
Can someone give inputs, how to overcome this issue?
Thanks,
Kiran Kumarif you are using the cold backup to create the standby database, Check that have you followed the following steps or not.
1. remove
all the datafiles and controlfiles from the standby database.
2. Create a new standby controlfile of the production for standby using the following cmd
'alter database create standby controlfile as 'Location';'
3. move the new controlfile to standby database server location as specified in initialization parameter file.
4. Restore all the datafiles to its appropriate loaction which was taken through cold backup.
5. startup nomount
6. alter database mount standby database;
7. recover standby database.
scp the archive log sequence that is asked by the database, from production.
You can try this steps.
