Itunes is not detecting my ipod nano 7th G (on windows 8.1)

Hi everyone,
Since I've installed the last windows 8.1 release, when I plug my ipod, I have the following message "An ipod has been detected but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the ipode, then try again. If the problem persists, uninstall iTunes then install it again."
Of course I did everything written but it still not working, so is there any body who can help me ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi

  • Itunes has stopped detecting my ipod nano 7th generation

Hi I have recently bought an ipod nano (7th generation). Initially I connected it to my computer and everything was working fine but it has now stopped appearing when I connect it to iTunes. It connects - the ipod screen shows it is connected - but I cannot sync it or transfer music.
I have tried it on my wife's computer and it works as normal but all my music is on my laptop. I don't know if I need to download a mobile support or something but it's very frustrating. I have the latest version of iTunes on  both laptops/
I've followed the steps on the online help but the ipod isn't even appearing in my laptop's device manager. Gratedful for any help

It's working now, apple must have updated itunes that fixed the issue, not sure.

  • ITunes does not detect my ipod

Much to my chagrin I made the mistake of upgrading Windows Vista to Windows 7. Then I d/l the latest version of iTunes and now iTunes can not detect my iPod. I receive the message "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install iPod's software."
I have completely unistalled iTunes numerous times and then ran into issues attempting to reinstall. I attempted to change the registry key which did not work so had to install Windows 7 again to fix issues.
When I run the iTunes diagnostics it tells me I have 2 issues:
    1. iTunes Helper is not running
    2. No iPhone or iPod found
I have attempted all the suggestions that come up in the help section for "iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes". I am hoping that someone out there can help me. I am going insane trying to fix this issue and am cursing myself for jumping on the Windows 7 bandwagon. At least I had all the Windows Vista issues figured out and my computer actually worked.

    Does anyone have any ideas????

  • Do I have to have an iTune account to use the Ipod Nano 7Th Gen?

Do I have to have an iTune account to use the Ipod Nano 7Th Gen?

No, you don't. You can rip music to your computer and sync it to your Nano.

  • Why does my lightening wire not fit the ipod nano 7th gen

Could someone tell me why does my lightening wire now not fit the ipod nano (7th gen)?  I push it in but it seems to spring out and not fully connect. I only bought it 1 year ago and it is been great, but now I think it needs to go in the bin

I agree, sounds like there's something in the port on the Nano. Try cleaning it out with a can of compressed air, or a gently with a wooden toothpick.

  • Itunes does not recognize my ipod nano

itunes does not recognize my ipod nano 6, it is a used one and has 1600 plus songs, it shows the songs, but won't let me do anything with them

I had this exact problem. I had to plug the iPod into a USB port on the back of the computer tower not the fron ones. Hope this helps.

  • COMPUTERS AND ITUNES WILL NOT RECOGNIZ MY IPOD NANO

MY NANO IPOD IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY MY COMPUTERS OR ITUNES.   WHEN I TRY TO SYNC IT IS IN GREY AND WILL NOT LET ME SYNC

Have you tried looking at the system requirements? It might be that you have an old version of itunes or operating system
Here are the system reqrements for an iPod nano 7th gen
Mac computer with USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, OS X v10.6.8 or later, and iTunes 10.7 or later4
PC with USB 2.0 port; Windows 7, Vista or XP Home or Professional (SP3) or later; and iTunes 10.7 or later
Internet access required; broadband recommended; fees may apply

  • Playlists will not sync onto iPod nano 7th gen

Since the very beginning of iPods, I subscribe to a number of podcasts that refresh in iTunes automatically. Once a day I transfer the "recently added" podcasts to a created playlist for my daily listening. This allows me to cull out music downloads from the pure podcast list. Since "podcasts" have been separated as an app, iTunes made it difficult to accomplish this. With iTunes 12 and my current iPod 7th generation, I can find no tip that will allow me to continue the practice. I want a continuously playing playlist of the most recently downloaded subscribed podcasts that can easily be refreshed and transferred to my iPod nano 7th gen at the end of each day.

There is no Apply button there, until you change something.  Until you make a change to a setting on that screen, the button (where the Apply button is located) says Sync.
It is somewhat difficult to understand what you are describing.  The Recently Added playlist is a smart playlist.  It comes "pre-installed" with iTunes.  However, if you right-click on it and select Edit Smart Playlist, you will see that the two rules for populating it are
Date Added - in the last - 2 - weeks
Genre - is not - Podcast
Therefore, if that is the playlist you are referring to, it intentionally excludes podcast episodes.  If you want a new smart playlist that lists podcast episodes downloaded in the last two week, you can start with the Recently Added playlist.  Don't modify that playlist.  Right-click on it and select Duplicate.  Name it (the duplicate) something like "Recently Added Podcasts" (or whatever you want).  Right-click on it and select Edit Smart Playlist.  Change the rules so that they are
Date Added - in the last - 2 - weeks <- You can change the number of weeks as desired.
Media Kind - is - Podcast
NOTE:  I suggest using Media Kind instead of Genre, because it more accurately identifies items that are podcasts.  Something can be a "podcast" without Genre set to Podcast.  But everything iTunes shows as a podcast MUST have Media Kind set to Podcast.
That new smart playlist ONLY shows all podcast episodes downloaded in the last two weeks.  You can then sync that playlist, if you want them all, or use it as the source to manually update your "daily podfest" playlist, and then select that playlist on the iPod's Podcasts screen (as described in my previous reply).

  • ITunes does not detect my iPod-- please read and help?!

I tried all the help Apple told me to do. I reset my iPod(didn't work) and then I downloaded the newest version of iTunes. That didn't work either. My iTunes still does not detect my iPod. The newly downloaded iTunes was at least supposed to tell me that my iPod was "corrupted" but it didn't. So... I'm not sure that it is. But that is the only reason Apple tells you could cause this. So yeah, I'm pretty lost right now! Does anybody know anything to help(by the way, I own a 5th generation iPod nano)? Thanks

Take a look at this web page and see if it helps. Some of the suggestions are ones you say you've already tried, but there are other suggestions, one of which may help:
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes on Windows
    Good luck.

  • ITunes 12 does not detect my iPod nano

    Hi there, please help!
6th generation iPod Nano is not detected in iTunes 12.0.1.26 BUT does show up in Finder (OS X Yosemite 10.10).
iPod 4 IS detected in iTunes.
I use my iPod a lot and would love to be able to update it! I have already searched for an answer and tried various solutions but to no avail so far.
    Many thanks.

Have just plugged in an old 1st generation iPod Touch - this is also detected by iTunes, just NOT the Nano

  • Itunes will not recognize my ipod nano

i plug my ipod nano into my computer and itunes pops up and tells me it has detected an ipod (which is not visible on the left side tab) and tells me there is a problem. It told me to connect my ipod again and try again. I did. It did not work. the same message appears and also tells me if the problem happens again, uninstall itunes and reinstall. I did. Still it does not work. I do not know how to fix this problem. Please help.
    Sincerly, irritated.

iTunes 7 is having this problem with my iPod 30GB Video. It worked at first, but the system hung while attempting to update my iPod to 1.2. After rebooting it never recognized my iPod. I've since checked my iPod out on my laptop and my work computer and it works fine at both of those. I've finished the update to 1.2 on my laptop, but it still doesn't work on my main computer.
I've tried uninstalling iTunes, using the Windows Install Cleanup software, deleting files from temp directories, all of the stuff that the troubleshooting docs suggest on this site. None of it has gotten that computer to recognize my iPod again. I am not about to reinstall windows so what is my next option?

  • My computer and itunes does not recognise my ipod nano

I had to return a faulty ipod nano. The replacement isn't recognised in My Computer or in iTunes.
I think this might be to do with the registration of the first nano still being recognised?
I have reinstalled itunes and followed the 5R's in the manual, but the ipod is still not recognised eg. Will not sync.
A dialogue box displays the following message:
'an ipod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly...'
    Can anybody help?

I am facing the same problem, buddy. My iPod nano is not recognized by my MacBook Pro nor by iTunes.
I tried everything suggested in trouble shooting. Looks like, I will have to visit an apple store soon to get it replaced/exchanged.

I have tried all that…I have tried multiple chargers and have not had any success! I think I have a lemon! Not too happy about all this either because I will probably have to pay for support since I have had the phone for more than 90 days
While Apple may request a Pay-Per-Incident, if it is determined that your device has a hardware issue, that PPI will bewailed after troubleshooting is completed. Or, you can request that they waive that if you've already done a lot of troubleshooting.  The PPI is only for issues that a user could resolve on their own but want Apple to provide a walkthrough over the phone.  You can get free support by going to an Apple Store instead, for example, as well.
