ITunes is not opening after last upgrade.

iTunes shows that it is open in the dock, but nothing on the screen.

All stores have been offline today due to server problems.

My iTunes won't open after last update. Can anybody help me?

I had similar problem this time and last time when I upgrade/update iTune, and subsequently solved the problem through the help of this person. You may give it a try and see if this works for you. It works for me now and then. Good luck.

Yes.  See this very forum for 50 threads on it, that explain the solution.

  • ITunes will not open after update to 11.4

I updated iTunes, along with the other updates I was prompted to install but now my iTunes will not open. At all. No error message or anything. Please someone help?
    Thanks.

    Hi Cchoe,
I see that you are experiencing an issue with iTunes after an update. It sounds like this issue could be related to third-party software interactions with iTunes. Here is an article that will help you troubleshoot:

  • ITunes will not open after updating

Ever since the update to 7.1.1 iTunes will not open.
I get a pop-up window that says iTunes has stopped working.
I have followed Apple's instructions for Vista about uninstalling all Apple products. I have done this 8+ times and I am at a total loss. I am a webmaster and Sr. Sys. Admin for a software company, so it's not like I don't have experience with computer/software issues.
When I look at the Windows application log. I have this error:
Faulting application iTunes.exe, version 7.7.1.11, time stamp
    0x4890a5ee, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time
stamp 0x4791a76d, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000254d8,
process id 0xf44, application start time 0x01c8fb2e587a39a9.
This started happening after I updated.
No other issues with any other programs. Quicktime will start up and run.

I hear you. My itunes is fubared and Apple and ALL the articles they send do NO good. I have emailed Apple many times and nothing helps.
Whatever they changed with version 7.1 messed up itunes and you can't go back.
I have emailed Apple asking them if I can delete my itunes directory and any references to itunes and NOT lose my 10K songs. They havent responded to that email and my guess is that it will delete it. But Im not going to risk losing my library until I know for sure !
Im in the same boat you are, I dont want to lose my library either. APPLE NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND NOW !!
anyway this is a pain in the *** but itunes(windows) will open this way
    UNTIL APPLE FIXES THIS !
    1.boot up windows
2.right click on your START button
3.go to C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes (my machine is a Dell with Vista)
4.go to the itunes directory C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC INFO
5.delete BOTH files SC info.sidb AND SC info.sibb
6.launch itunes, it should open, mine did.
    7. if you have any purchased songs from the istore, log-in with your user name/password.
THIS WORKED FOR ME BUT YOU HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR ITUNES OPEN, IF YOU CLOSE IT OUT, YOU WILL HAVE TO REPEAT THE PROCESS AGAIN. (at least I did)
    GOOD LUCK !!

With that one, the only workaround I'm aware of at the moment is to disable your BonJour Service.
Right-click "My Computer" and select "Manage".
    Expand "Services and Applications"
    Open "Services"
Right click on the BOnJour service and select "properties".
In the General tab, change the start-up type to "disabled".
    OK out of the tab.
Restart the PC. Does iTunes launch for you now?

  • ITunes do not open after OX 10.10.3 update

AFter updating to OSX 10.10.3, my iTunes do not open On my Mac Mini. I also updated my MacPro and MacBook Pro to 10.10.3 and they are working perfectely. The iTunes opens flawlessly, the problem is just with my MacMini. I tried downloading iTunes from Apple and re-installing but no success. Tried Disk Utility (repairing permissions) and again... No... The icon did not even bounce...
    what should I do??

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • IMovie will not open after ram upgrade. How can I fix this?

I updated the ram on my computer by myself from 2gb to 4gb. Everything seemed to work fine, yet when I go to open imovie, it will not open after endlessly bouncing on my dock. I have verified disk permissions. Repaired disk Permissions. Tried replacing iMovie with the iMovie backup from my time machine. Cleared the system cache. Tried reinstalling it using the ilife 11 disk. Tried installing the previous ilife 09 version. Reinstalled snow leopard and did a time machine back up. Placed the old ram back in the computer. All this things done with no success.
DOES SOMEBODY HAVE ANY IDEA ON WHAT I COULD DO?
    regards
    Lloyd

    Hi
    My first two thoughts
    • Faulty RAM - There are programs that can test this as Tech-tools (buy or in Apple Care pac)
    • Wrongly inserted RAM - Can be tricky and sometime not obvious - everything's looks OK but in certain situations it just randomly don't work.
Take out the new RAM and try Your Mac without it to see that it's still OK to start with and then very carefully re-install RAM and now be very careful to see that it snaps in exactly as it's intended to.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Itunes does not open after an update

I was prompted by itunes for an update and i did. Now Itunes does not open. it say "itunes library itl file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the itunes folder in the Music folder. Has anyone else encounter this problem. thanks

Worked for me. Could not uninstall Apple Mobile Device but continued in this order. Rebooted and reinstalled iTunes.
All of my Library was restored.
    Running Vista Ultimate.

  • Itunes will not open after upgrading to 9

I cannot run itunes 9 on XP
Everything worked fine untill version 9 was released. At that point I reinstalled version 8 and everything was working.
Last week I bought an ipad and it forced me to upgrade to the latest version.
I opened after installing but once I rebooted Itunes no longer opens.
Itunes does not apear under applications in Windows task manager
    under processes I see:
    Itunes.exe
    Ituneshelper.exe
    Applemobiledeviceservice
    Ipodservice.exe
If I try to open Itunes again a second copy of Itunes.exe apperes in processes.
    Itunes.9.2.0.61
    Apple application 1.3.0
    Apple mobile device support 3.1.0.62
    Apple software update 2.1.1.116
Running microsoft xp home edition 2002 Service pack 3

    Norton security suite 4.2.0.12
That's the one that Comcast distributes?
If so, I'd check the firewall rules for your iTunes in the Norton suite first. (Norton generally has to update a rule for iTunes when your iTunes version is upgraded, so it's a prime time for something to go wrong with your rule for iTunes.)
End any running iTunes.exe processes, and then check to see if you currently have an iTunes rule in the firewall.
If you don't have an iTunes rule at all, create one allowing full access to the internet.
If you have an iTunes rule that doesn't allow full access to the internet, edit the rule to allow access to the internet.
If you have an iTunes rule that does allow full access to the internet, delete it and create a new rule for iTunes (allowing full access to the internet).
Restart the PC and then try another iTunes launch. Does it launch correctly this time?

  • Itunes will not open after upgrade

After upgrading to the latest version of itunes and quicktime it will not open (no error message given). If i log off as administrator and log on as another user it will open. is there a fix for this?

there's a few different things that can cause that on a PC.
perhaps try working through the user-account-specific section of the following document first:

  • My iTunes won't open after partial upgrade.

Hello, I recently tried to download the latest version of Itunes but got a message during the middle of download saying I didn't have enough memory to complete it. I immediately hit cancel and now my Itunes won't open! Everytime I try to open it I get a message saying, "A required Itunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall Quick Time." I removed some programs to free up some space. I reinstalled Quick Time but I'm still getting the same message. I found my library under My Music, iTunes, iTunes Music, but how can i get it to open. Can someone help, please?

I had similar problem this time and last time when I upgrade/update iTune, and subsequently solved the problem through the help of this person. You may give it a try and see if this works for you. It works for me now and then. Good luck.

  • Picture gallery not opening after OS upgrade

I recently bought blackberry z10 and up graded the OS to 10.2.0.424. After the upgrade I see that Picture gallery doesn't open. I tried rebooting the phone by pressing both volume keys simultaneously, but the phone won't reboot as well. Please help.

I'm sorry for not specifically mentioning the process followed. By soft reboot I meant the method you mentioned for BB10 devices. And hard reboot was pulling out the battery. What I couldn't do was to reboot using the volume keys.
    Ah, OK...thanks!

Anyway, you mentioned about clean OS reload. Can you please elaborate? Can I do it myself?
Yup. For the "normal" method (automated, controlled by your carrier as far as the specific OS level you receive), refer:
