Itunes is not picking up/ detecting my device

I have a iphone 4s which is fully updated, and so is my itunes on my laptop, windows is also fully updated.
I am having trouble connecting the device to itunes, my computer picks it up and makes the little sound and everything when i plug it in, i can see all my pictures and what not in my files but itunes is not detecting it like usual.
I recently updated itunes so think maybe it might be a fault in the update, normally i wouldn't have a problem with just waiting for a new update with the bug fixes, however i have just purchased new CDs which i would like to put on my phone. I have already imported them to itunes, i just need itunes to realise my phone is there.
Please help, any suggestions are needed.

Same here, just updated to 11.3.1.2. Seems to be a buggy update since it won't recognize my iPhone but previous versions have. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't help much. The problem isn't with the usb cord either since i tried 2 different cords already.
Edit: just fixed it by following these steps starting at step 3

If you're really trying to use Windows 2000, then that's the problem. As you'll see on the box, you need at least XP/SP3.

My computer is picking up my iphone, but itunes is not picking it up. What is wrong?

See section 5 of TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows.
If that doesn't help it may pay to tear down and reinstall iTunes in the following manner...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

You may need to try this More than Once...
Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
But... if the Device has been Modified... this will Not necessarily work.

  • HT1386 itunes will not recognize any of my devices when I try to sync them

itunes will not recognize any of my devices when I try to sync them. How cn I fix this?

    Hello, bone61.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your device is not recognized by iTunes, I would recommend the steps in the article below.  Start with the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.  If the issue persists try all remaining steps.

  • When I connect my ipad or ipod to the computer, itunes does not show them as a "device".

When I connect my ipad or ipod to the computer, itunes does not show them as a "device", however my computer can see they are connected. so it seems to be a problem with itunes. i have tried re-installing itunes and it still doesnt work.
My Iphone does show as a device when connecteing wirelessly.
Its not a problem with the driver becasue the computer can see the devices, so its a problem in itunes.

    Hello mimward,
It sounds like Windows can see your devices, but iTunes is not seeing them. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article named:

    Hello reneywacky,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Connect your USB cable to your computer but not to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until step 3.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button down, connect the USB cable to the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen. When this screen appears, you can release the Home button:
Note: If the image of a battery appears, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again. If you don't see the Connect to iTunes screen, try these steps 1 through 4 again.
iTunes should automatically open and display the following message:
"iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."Note: If iTunes not open after two minutes, please open iTunes yourself.
Use iTunes to restore the device.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • ITunes is not picking up my iPhone or iPad when I connect (it does see my Nano)

Not sure what happened but in the last week, iTunes won't pick-up my iPhone or iPad under "devices" when I connect to my Mac.  I have not been able to sync either device or update their software.  iTunes is picking up my Nano and iPod Shuffle.

Restart the iPad and try again. Try with iTunes when you restart the iPad and worry about the WiFi after you activate the device.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

If your iTunes is the latest version, restart your computer and reboot your iPhone. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPhone restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • Itunes does not recognize any of my devices

I connect my iPhone or iPad(s) and Itunes does not recognize they are there. I have Itunes latest version. My last backup I was able to do was back in January.
