ITunes is "Not Responding" to my iPod

Since the 7.7 upgrade, I have been unable to access my non-touch iPod (it is the last generation before it became the Classic model). My iPod Touch syncs up and loads fine, and I am able to transfer things to that device without any issue.
But it's the normal iPod that is not working at all. I'll connect the USB with iTunes open, and the iPod device icon will appear on my desktop, but the iTunes window will essentially freeze up and my cursor (when dragged anywhere over the iTunes field) reverts to the spinning pinwheel. It's like iTunes is confused by the normal iPod and not the iPod Touch... I had no issues with the old version of iTunes... WHAT IS WRONG???

The songs are "greyed out" because you have the iPod set to transfer songs automatically. That is also why the padlock icon appears at the bottom of iTunes next to the space used/available.
If you want the songs to be bold and selectable/editable, then you need to change to manage the content manually.
Please note that by editing/changing the songs on your iPod in this manner, the changes will not affect the songs in iTunes, only on your iPod.
Btw, does your computer keyboard have capital letters or punctuation keys?

ITunes is not responding after transferring files to iPod Touch

I upgraded iTunes to iTunes 8.2.0.23 last week. I have a first generation iPod Touch (8 GB) running v. 2.2.1. Since upgrading iTunes, after copying new files onto my iPod Touch, both iTunes and the Touch indicate "Syncing in progress" for several minutes after the files have been copied. Eventually, the Touch's screen will stop displaying the syncing message and turn itself off but iTunes stays on "Syncing in progress". I am unable to eject the Touch (although I know I don't have to). In fact iTunes is completely locked up. When I go to the Windows Task Manager, it shows that iTunes is not responding. I end the task there and it closes iTunes. This happens every time I add new files to the Touch.
I've read in various discussion pages about similar problems occuring but they all involve Version 3.0 Touch's or iPhones. Perhaps this is something particular with iTunes 8.2.0.23. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The issue was, I store my music on my Windows Home Server and had my iTunes library connected to it over the network. When I transferred my music locally to my computer, the issue stopped. So, I guess the answer is, don't sync your iTunes library from a Windows Home Server.

What i think it is is that the ipod is put into a camera port or format and i need it to go back to the USB port but i dont know how to change the setting for the ports? I have uninstalled it many times and reloaded it and shut/restart.. My ipod doesnt open in the devise management it opens in the portable devices???? i dont know why it is doing this?I reinstalled iTunes and did everything i could find that could fix it.... This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode,put it into Recovery Mode.

Try going to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and delete the existing backup so iTunes creates an entire new one vice changing the existing one.

I found the apple webpage that is supposed to help me, but when i went to the LAN settings in the control panel i found that 'Automatically detect settings" was already checked. If yo mean the iPod will not connect to your wifi network:
Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Do other devices now connect?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

Music plays fine in iTunes but not at all on iPod

I have a few songs that I created in Soundtrack Pro that I have imported into iTunes. I have all of the music I created in one folder on iTunes. I just uploaded 4 new songs and they will not play on my iPod. When I click on a song (the ones I created) they skip to another song. What is causing them to skip to another song? Is it a QT thing? I saw where I do have an update waiting for me. Could that be the issue? I have other songs that I created that play with no problems. Those songs are AIFF files. I even tried converting them to AAC files and they still won't play on the iPod. I did notice that songs are getting exported from Soundtrack Pro as .m4a files and that could be why but I am not sure. I just know they play with no problems in iTunes and not all on my iPod. I DO have the latest version of iTunes as well the latest update for my iPod.

I am having a very similar problem, except it is happening to ALL of my music. For your case, perhaps you could try exporting to WAV from Soundtrack Pro (not sure if that is an option), and then let iTunes encode the audio in whichever format you choose. There shouldn't be any loss in quality in doing that.
As far as my situation, I have updated my iPod (5th Gen 80GB Video) to the latest firmware (v1.3), iTunes is completely updated, OS X v10.5 is completely updated. I have restored my iPod on both PC and Mac, but no luck. Basically, no matter what songs I put on my iPod (MP3s or Apple Lossless), nothing will play on the iPod. I can fully browse the library on the iPod, but when I select a song to play, it just sits at 0:00 forever. If I hook the iPod up to a computer, I can play the music off of it just fine, which indicates that the hard drive is working just fine. Adding however much music I want to works just fine. I even stumbled across the Diagnostics tests, all of which passed with no errors. To me, it just seems that the iPod wants to play the song, but for some reason the compressed data isn't getting through the decoder....or....the music is decompressed OK but won't go through the digital-to-analog converter. Anyone have any suggestions for either my or DVX100Shooter's case?
