ITunes is out of memory?

I bought an episode of a show and when i try to watch it a window pops up and says iTunes is out of memory. how can i fix this or get more memory?
Please help!

Have you got a number of other programs running on your computer ? If you have then you could try closing some of them, or preferably try rebooting your computer and see if that frees up some of your computer's memory so that you can then play that programme.

I've a few issues, my old computer was out of memory.  I changed to a new one which already had another itunes account (for my business)  when i upgraded to os5 my library has dissappeared as it has syncd with the new computer.  Is there any way i can restore the information previously from my ipad?  really appreciate any advice thanx in advance

If you still have the old computer, you should be able to connect the iPad, run iTunes and restore from a backup from a previous sync.  Now that you have it updated, you will not need to do that again.

  • I have windows 7I have downloaded most updates and use no mobile devices just use itunes my pc. what programs can I eleminate as I'm running out of memory?

What itunes/sony programs can I elimnate from my pc if I only use it on my pc?  I have no mobile devices and afraid Im have sony, safari browser and other programs on my computer. I routinely down loaded all updates and afraid I have many uneeded programs and also have problems of running out of memory, can somebody help

Thank you for your quick response, BalusC. I really appreciate your answer.
Yes, you are right. If I manually code the same amount of those components in the JSF pages instead of generating them dynamically, the server will still run out of memory. That is to say, JSF pages might not accommodate a great deal of concurrent visiting. If I upgrade the server to just allow 1,000 teachers making their own test papers at the same time, but when over 2,000 students take the same questionnaire simultaneously, the server will need another upgrading. So I have to do what you have told me, using JS+DOM instead of upgrading the server endlessly.

  • Username/iTunes out of memory

    Hi,
Running iMac (Intel) OS X 10.4.9, newest version of iTunes. Problem is I can't download/purchase new albums on iTunes as it tells me I'm out of memory. System prefs tells me my computer has 169 gigs but my username say 38 gig with nothing left. Anyone know how I can tweak this to allow more memory allocated to the username or change so I can buy more music????
    Thanks

Open the Security pane of System Preferences and turn FileVault off.

  • IMac CPU3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB, Extremely slow and repeatedly "out of Memory" since migration from Mountain Lion to Mavericks

    Dear Apple Support Community.
As mentioned by a number of users reporting the same problem, my 2009 iMac CPU3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB RAM, has become extremely slow and repeatedly "out of Memory" since it was migrated from Mountain Lion to Mavericks (OS 10.9 then OS 10.9.1).
I have already run CleanMyMac, deleted 5GB of useless stuffs, which did not translate into any improvement. Following the advices collected in other Apple Support Community threads, I have applied EtreCheck the outcome of which is provided below.
For information, I have also upgraded my 2011 MacBook CPU2.3 GHz Core i7, 8GB which became only a bit slower than before, sometimes freezing which it almost never did before. However, I am used to the fact that Mac get usually slower and more prompt fo freeze after upgrading to a more recent OS.
Both my 2009 iMac and my 2011 MacBook have F-Secure installed. So the problem with the 2009 IMac is unlikly to be due to the presence of F-Secure. Interestingly, the few abnormalities found by Etrecheck were exacly identical before I ran CleanMyMac. There are two more findings (mentioned below) since I ran CleanMyMac on the 2009 iMac, which again didn't improve the problem.
So please find below the details of the EtreCheck experience and some additional measurements made with iStat while running EtreCheck:

    Practically:
The iMac can work slowly with only one software e.g. either Mail or Safari or Firefox, but still the below "out of Memory" message occurs about every 3 minutes.
Aperture has becomre to slow to be useable
If trying to write a mail (with Mail) while Safari or Firefox is open, then the "out of Memory" message occurs about every 20 seconds so I need to check on "Resume" several times per minute.
    Conclusions
From the above, unless anyone in the Apple Support Community proves to be able to identify a specific problem leading to a way to find a cure, I tend to conclude that Mavericks is not suitable for computers operating with a Core 2 Duo CPU even with a 8GB of RAM.
Unless I missed something, I did not see any warning from Apple Computer Inc. informing their customers they should refrain from upgrading Core 2 Duo Computers.
The only solution I see so far is to downgrade from Mavericks to Mountain Lion. And the Apple Support Community would confirm that it is the only solution, I would appreciate to get your guidance on how to proceed.
    Intended action plan
Migrate the above 2009 iMac to a 2014 Mac Mini Server operating on Mavericks to ensure that no data may be lost while downgrading to Montain Lion.
Provided the above downgrading operation is successful, assign this 2009 iMac to partial retirement e.g. Mail, Skype, iTunes  and DVD player.
In advance, I would like to thank the Apple Community for helping me either i) finding a cure to the problem, ii) or confirming that Mavericks cannot operate properly on Core 2 Duo computers, iii) and in such a case, guiding me on how to downgrade to Mountain Lion.
    Yours sincerely

... what anti-virus would you recommend using?
Use what is already included with OS X. It already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Disable Java in Safari > Preferences > Security.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • ITunes 10.6.3 memory leak

Anyone else having issues with iTunes 10.6.3 running on OSX 10.7.4 leaking memory dry and then filling up ALL your disk partition?
I do - once a week now. I have a small boot SSD, but once iTunes fills up the memory it appears to be creating a 30+ GB swap on the boot drive and just kills my machine.
I watched the apps closely this week, and iTunes had built itself a nice little slice of 4.5+GB of memory.   I have 12GB of memory.  Machine was starting to lock up right before my eyes.  Force quitting iTunes saved the day.
What in the world?  I do connect my Apple TV to my library.

    Same problem.
Day after day, running 10.8.1 Mountain Lion here. Today iTunes had snaffled 9.5GB of main memory and 25GB of VM. Wonderful.
I do also have WiFi sync turned on and both iPhone & iPad regularly in and out of the house, I'll try Lewis' solution and report back also.
WiFi Sync NEVER worked properly anyway, occasionally it would be successful, more often than not it'd spew error messages on the desktop. Then when I went to force a sync, it'd give me more errors before proceeding to do what I had just asked it to do...
Starting to get the feeling this company has become heavy on features and very very light on actually completing them to a usable level before unleashing them on us.

  • My mac's run out of memory and I can't find the culprit!

Hi, I'm in serious need of some help! I'm sure this is simple, but I'm about to break down over it – I use my mac for everything. I've got a 200gb 2009 macbook (running iOS7), and it's told me it's run out of memory. The storage tab in 'about this mac' tells me 108GB is being used for video – but I can't find them! My iPhoto has about 17GB of movies, my iTunes has around 20GB, and I've got maybe another 10GB in files within finder – but that's still only half the videos my mac is saying it has? How do I find the rest? I've got 80GB being used by 'other' as well – is that just pages and numbers documents, along with the iOS? Is there a way of finding exactly what all my memory's being allocated to?
I've got the entire mac backed up on an external hard drive, but I'm terrified of deleting anything from the mac in case that fails. I plan on getting a second external HD, but even then I think I'll be too worried (I've heard about so many hard drives continuously failing). How does anyone manage all their stuff?!?
Thank you in advance, for any help you can offer.

Just a slight correction to start, you're not running iOS 7. You're running a version of OS X, iOS is for mobile devices like iPhones and iPads. To find out which version OS OS X you're running click the Apple menu at the top left and select About This Mac.
This http://pondini.org/OSX/LionStorage.html should help you understand "Other".

  • Startup Disk out of Memory, what to do?

Good Day Everyone, and thank you all for taking the time and energy to consider this most nefarious situation.  I'm not a frequent poster as I find that many out there are far more skillful than I at solving gthe problems and I am incredibly grateful that we, the Mac Community, are so involved and willing to help each other.  Thus please allow me to add my two bits:
I am running a Macbook  Air 13" Late 2010 Model with 2.13 Ghz Core 2 Duo cpu and 4 gb of RAM.  Reasonably saavy with all the assistance from everyone online.  Suddenly this past Tuesday, Nov 26 I began receiving "Out of memory" warnings along with the dreaded spinning beach ball.  No new software was installed recently and I have NOT YET upgraded to Mavericks due to all the issues we all have been reading about, especially the email stuff. That said, I have many friends who have and have not had any issues at all.
So Running ML 10.8.5, no new software installs, and suddenly awaken from sleep Tuesday Morning to a "Out of Memory" warning.  Repaired Permissions in Disk Utility, Reparied Disk in Disk Utility, Rebuilt directory using Disk Warrior from a bootable external drive, plus a plethora of other software I like to use when issues arrise. Reset PRAM, booted into Safe Mode, same problem and then discovered that whenever I restarted magically 15.75 Gb appeared.  Then within 1 hour and sometimes less it dropped to 350mb and the warning.
Restarted several times to verify that and since then have been searching for a solution.  Just finished reading this thread and even though it is primarily related to Mavericks, based on what I have found I would bet it is an Apple ugrade of some sort because it is happening in ML as well.
One thing that did help was to quite _ip in Activity Monitor, which controlled printing, and suddenly I'm back up to 11 Gb.  However I have made no changes to any print drivers or software in months.  The only think was the latest OS update released last week which automatically installed.  So go figure.
Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestiong beyond what we have in the thread so far.
    Best Da O

Initial easy steps to gain disk space:
    - Delete all files in the Downloads folder.
    - Empty the trash.
    - Start iPhoto, empty its trash and restart the computer.
    Deleting files:
Run a Time Machine (or other) backup since you are about to delete and move files and you may need to recover from any inadvertent mistakes or decisions.  You will need one external hard drive for your Time Machine (or other) backup and a second if you plan to offload some files.  (See suggestions for where to purchase hard drives at the end of this message.)
Then use the free application OmniDiskSweeper http://www.omnigroup.com/more to explore your volume in descending order by size so you can attack the problem from the top down, deleting the largest unwanted files first.  Delete with caution and do not delete any system files.  Remember to empty the trash after trashing the files.
Additional reference on freeing disk space:
    http://pondini.org/OSX/DiskSpace.html
    Offloading files:
Consider moving some of the no-often-used large files or directories to an external disk.  Use ODS again to find them.  As noted above this will be at least your second hard drive.  Your first one(s) is/are for your Time Machine (or other) backup(s).  Do not offload files onto a Time Machine disk.
Format the second drive as Mac OS Extended (journaled).  Using OWS to find large files/folders and copy them from the system drive to the external hard drive and delete them from your internal drive.
Then  > System Preferences > Time Machine > Options… > Remove the offload HD name from the exclusions list.
Now both your system disk and your external offload disk will be backed up onto your Time Machine disk.

    Hardware — Bigger disk/SSD:
If you are still tight on disk space consider larger storage.  Consider doubling you SSD capacity.  OWC sells 120, 240 and480 GB SSD upgrades for 2009 to 2012 MacBook Airs for $120 to $525 http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/ .  The 240 GB option is $265.

            graphics.drawImage(getImage(), 0, 0, null);
            graphics.dispose();
}So basically I'm writing a music database of sorts. One of the things its gotta be able to do is display covers. I thought i was being all clever when i wrote the above cover class so that it would resize the images in on a seperate thread in the background without stalling the user interface.
It's resizeing fairly large images (<300 kb jpegs) and it does the first couple very quickly... then it stops for a long time... then it tells me its out of memory. I know its not any cover in perticular because i changed the order in the process of my bug testing.
So basically my question is this... why is it bombing out? and what can i do about it? (I've read about changing the available memory through command line switch, and i tried that and it didn't seem to do anything).
Not sure if it matters... but I'm running fedora core 4 on a 2.4 ghz with 256 ram and a radeon 9200 with java 1.5 update 6.
thanks in advance for any assistance.

Yup, OB is correct but after changing locations go to the menu bar and go; file>library>organize library. It will then give you a choice, choose consolidate library. This will ensure all of your music is together and located in the same place. Whenever you open up iTunes it will now load from your new library location.
*(You can also hold option key when launching iTunes and it will give you the option to choose which library you would like to use.)
    Good Luck,
    Mike

  • Another version of 'out of memory' error

    Hi all
I have a colleague who is getting the following error message.
As discussed...when I attempt to render a clip on the timeline, once it
gets to the end of the rendering process and attempts to play the clip, an
'out of memory' error message box appears on the screen.
Then when I click on 'OK' to close this box, the canvas window turns to red
and the following message displays in the canvas window...'Out of memory.
Free up memory and window will redraw.'
He is using HDV footage captured with the "HDV" codec [not the intermediate one], and editing it into HDV1080i50 sequences.
He has a G5 DP 2 GHZ machine running Tiger 10.4.2 and 2 GB of ram.
He has approx 80 GB free space on Mac HD and approx 400 GB on external Lacie HD. He is running only FCP HD 5 at any one time.
I have sourced some previous posts which speak of corrupt graphics, clips, sequences and trashing fcp prefs.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for him?
[He is quite new to macs and FCP especially].
I am going to send him an email to subscribe and create an account for this forum, his name is AGebhardt.

    Hello,
I had the same issue last night, when a render (only 15 min., so not THAT big) completed and would not play and the canvas turned red and said I was out of memory.
This is different than a general error! out of memory warning, which I have seen happen. Some of the answers in linked threads seem to be pointing to this other situation.
I have plenty of space and plenty of RAM and was only running iTunes. I quit iTunes and it worked, almost to my disappointment because in the past I have had many apps working at a time with no problems,
I would be pretty bummed if I could only have FCP open all of a sudden.
    I will try going through my clips to check for corruptions as suggested just to be on the safe side, but have a question;
What good is it to throw out your render files if you have already checked to see if you have enough storage space? I can see the good if a file is corrupt, but with every project a new render folder is created and unless there is a limit on these folders that I'm unaware of I can't see the sense in trashing the folder.
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    Jesse

  • Out of memory message on iPad 3 in Adobe reader

When viewing a PDF on the iPad 3 with the Adobe reader app I get a message saying "out of memory" whenever I open a PDF bigger than about 20mb.
Any reason or a bug? I have loads of memory left on the device.

We just released a new version that should fix most out of memory issues on the new iPad. It also adds a host of new features like commenting, form filling and ink signatures. Please update and let us know what you think.

  • Project Manager Has Run Out of Memory????

i've been using Logic Pro 7 for about a week. i've only created 2 very small projects so far. today, when i opened up a Logic, a window immediately opened in my new blank session that said "Project Manager has run out of memory". What does this mean??? I'm not really sure what restrictions i'm now dealing with, but i do know, that now, when i try to import an audio file, such as an mp3, i am not allowed to do it. The window opens, and i select my itunes folder, and i see all my mp3's, but it wont let me click on them!!
What is going on????? i have 30 gigs of space free on my hard drive. Why is it saying that my project manager has run out of memory??? I have no idea what this means!! I'm seriously ready to throw my Macbook at the wall and go back to PC cuz it causes me way too many problems.
    Thank you for your time.

Project Manager was something of a beast on Logic 7 and has been removed in Logic 8 with nobody that I've heard complain about its demise.
You would do well to delete the existing Project Manager configuration file which is found at:
    user/Library/Preferences/PM Data
You won't cause any problems by doing that and you're 99% certain to fix your problem. For more info on location of the preferences files, see:

    Hope that helps.

  • Ran out of memory on my 16 gig iPad

I have a 16 gig iPad. It's in good condition and only a year old. I ran out of memory/space. What are my options besides purchasing a new iPad with more gigs or deleting apps?

How much space is Other using? You may be able to reduce.
How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.
     Cheers, Tom
