Itunes is showing someone else's library of music in "owner's library".  How can I fix this?

I have just purchased this laptop and just tried authorizing my itunes account for this mac and syncing it with my iphone.  It didn't sync and loaded someone else's library under "owner's library".  I am not sure what to do about this, I thought maybe it was just combining all my past music libraries, but this definitely is not my music-there are bands I've never heard of and while I know sometimes new pcs come with some free sample songs this is thousands of songs so that's not the case.  Can anybody tell me what might be going on with my library and how to fix it?

Yeah, ouch .  I can take it in tomorrow, but was really hoping to be done with the set up tonight so I don't have to wait all day at IT tomorrow.  iTunes support says I should call during regular business hours.  So I am just trying to read other postings that might be similar.  I just tried my loading my old ipod and that worked alright, hope it is not just my phone-I love my music on there and then still there's the problem of the "shared" library that I didn't select.

I've had my mac for less than a month and for the first time I put in a disc. I can hear a laser sort of noise as well as the disc flapping about or a motor sort of sound? Sounds really bad to me :/
    Someone please help!

    Sounds like a hardware issue.
Did you buy the system from Apple? If so how recent is recent?  If it is new you have 14 days to return it, not sure what the situation is with refurb systems. If it is over 14 days you should still have warranty support make an appointment at an Apple Store or contact Apple support.
If you bought it from someone other then Apple you will need to contact them.
    good luck

    Hi tuzas2,
The article below may be able to help you with this issue.
Click on the link below to see more details and screenshots.
I've quoted some applicable information below for you:
iPhone and iPod touch: An unknown error (13014), (13136), or (13213) may occur after updating to iTunes 8.0.1 or later
    Solution 1
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed.
    Solution 2
Quit and reopen iTunes. If the issue continues, then restart your computer.
    Solution 3
Quit iTunes, temporarily disable the anti-virus security software on your computer, then reopen iTunes and try to sync your device. If iTunes successfully syncs your iPhone or iPod touch, consult the anti-virus software vendor.
    Solution 4
Turn off Genius in iTunes in the Genius sidebar (choose View > Hide Genius Sidebar).
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!

  • How can I put my mp3 files into my iTunes library? Every time I download a song from a website and try to drag it to my library, it won't add on. How can I fix this?

Back then when I had the older update with iTunes i never had this problem with trying to put my mp3 files of music into my iTunes library. Now it doesn't want to be put into the library. Once I try to drag the music file to the iTunes library nothing happens, it just keeps showing a cancellation sign with my mouse. So how can I fix this?

    Hi William.
The problem is probably that the index is corrupt and you need to completely re-create it rather than rebuilding individual mailboxes. I have no idea what the situation really is now after having tinkered with the contents of ~/Library/Mail/, though, so the following procedure may or may not work.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
    4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • I have tried to consolidate all my music files to my Itunes Media folder but it is still missing quite a few files. How can I fix this?

So I just bought a new computer and want to transfer my itunes library over. I went through the organize library option and consolidated the files to the itunes media folder, but when i checked the folder it was missing many files still. I tried to consolidate again and it didn't do anything. How can I fix this?

Just to clarify ... you still have media files that are linked correctly from iTunes (i.e., right-click > Get Info, File tab shows the correct location), but these have not been moved to the "expected" location - assuming your iTunes folder is in the default place - C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\artist_name\album_title - correct?
There are a couple of other scenarios in which iTunes may not be able to complete the consolidation process:
Some folders in the iTunes Media hierarchy might be set to read-only - to fix this, right-click on your iTunes Media folder in Windows Explorer and select Properties.  On the General tab there's a check box labeled "Read-only" - click the box so that the flag is unchecked and the box is white.  Click OK, and then OK again when the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" option selected.
Windows permissions issues are preventing iTunes from moving your media files (there's some anecdotal evidence of a change in this behavior in iTunes 12).  See turingtest2's notes on Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice on fixing this.
Then try the consolidation process again ... if it still doesn't work as expected we'll need to dive further into details of how your media is currently organized and how the non-moving items appear in iTunes.

  • Music cd's entered into itunes for copy are in a different tack order than the cd itself; how can i fix this

When I submit a music disc to be copied into my iTunes library, the order of the tracks is scrambled.  How can I fix this so that the album track order in my library matches that of the cd itself?

Click the heading above the left most column of numbers.
Regardless of the order displayed during the rip the tracks should be correctly sorted when the library is sorted by Album, Album by Artist or Album by Artist/Year. Sorting on any other column will give different results. See Grouping tracks into albums for details.

the older version of bonjour could not be removed
Let's see if we can make some progress with that one first.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • HELP!! I am trying to download past purchases bc I lost all my other music on my old computer.  iTunes will not let bc my computer is not authorized???  HOW can I fix this- I want the music! thank you

Help- I am trying to download all the past purchases I have made. (my old computer crashed-lost everything) BUT i am getting a message stating my computre is not authorized-- yet I just purchased songs tonight!!  I am looking all over to try and fix this-- HOW?!?!  Help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, to authorize a computer, you open up itunes, and at the very very top lefthand corner, there will be a little window. Click on that, and it will present you with a list of options.  From there, you go to the third option down, which says "Itunes Store," hover over it with your mouse, and it will give you another set of options. From there, you can see the two options, "Authorize" an "Deauthorize computer.  Just  click on "Authorize," enter in your apple ID and password, and your computer will be authorized! Hope I helped, ~Samuel
