ITunes is slow while syncing my devices over WiFi

Hi,
I'm using Win Vista HP x64 and iTunes 10.5.1.42.
When I sync my iPhone 4S (5.0.1) and iPad 2 (5.0.1) with WiFi iTunes seems to be very slow.
The problem is, iTunes is syncing automatically when I start it.
What can I do?

Try deleting what is called the iPod Photo Cache.

  • How to prevent itunes from connecting to my IOS devices over wifi

I have a MBP retina that is set to sync  (over wifi) with the iOS devices for myself and my wife: 2 ipads, 1 ipad mini and 2 iphones.
When I am launch iTunes in my other Mac - Macbook Air (mid 2010, 13inch, OS X 10.8.2), it will also start to connect the iOS devices - even though I am not using it to sync with my iOS devices.
How to prevent iTunes in my MBA from connecting to all the iOS devices in my house?
    Thanks.

I configured all my iOS devices to sync with my MBP Retina (over wifi) - but the problem is that when I am using my MBA, the devices will also automatically connect to the MBA Itunes over wifi when I launch iTunes in the MBA.
Is there any way to prevent auto connection to the MBA?

Since migrating from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and upgrading to iTunes 11, the latter has frozen while syncing my devices, usually while at the “determining apps to sync” stage of the process.  If I am attempting to download app updates before attempting to sync, the problem normally occurs at the first “installing app x” stage.  In addition, the whole iTunes experience is extremely sluggish and will even freeze while searching for a track.  Everything worked fine on Windows 7.  So far, I have repaired the program several times and have checked for compatibility issues, but there is no Windows 8 option in the combo box, obtained after right-clicking the icon and selecting Properties/Compatibility.  As a result, I am unable to sync my devices. If I uninstall iTunes before re-installing, will this affect my iTunes libraries?  Does anyone have any suggestions?

After going by elimination to isolate if the problem was from (1) iTunes app, (2) my computer or (3) my old iPhone 4G, I figured out what my problem was.
    1) First I deleted & reinstalled iTunes on my Windows PC without succes, my playlist did not changed on my iPhone.
    2) I tested a successful #sync from the iMac at work.
So my conclusion is: The hard drive on my Windows PC is full and that is affecting iTunes SYNC functionalities.
So I'll do a back-up then run a "Clean Install" of my Windows OS, hoping that it will fix my SYNC problems.

  • ITunes can't see devices over wifi (iTunes 12.1 and iOS 8.1.3)

iTunes cannot see my devices over wifi.  I have upgraded to the latest builds, i.e. OS X 10.10.2, iTunes 12.1.0.50, iOS 8.1.3.
This was also happening with earlier builds.
I have tried restarting (all devices, iTunes, mac mini, wifi network), removing devices from the wifi network, deleting old backups, renaming devices.
    Any thoughts?

    I have this problem also.
My iPad is connected directly to my iMac by usb cable.
Just updated iTunes to 12.1.0.50 and at first it could not find my iPad but it just stated "iPad" in devices -  not the name I gave it originally.
Unaware of this problem I re-named my iPad and commenced Sync but its an ever syncing system  and nothing further develops.
I have also powered off and re-started.
Now all I get is a popup saying it "cannot be synced because it cannot be found" and yet it shows up in the devices.
I've also just connected my iPhone directly to my iMac and whilst it shows in iTunes under devices cannot be synced because it too cannot be found.
    Clearly Apple has a problem.

  • I have iphone 4g and have updated to ios6 an updated itunes 2, but while sync itunes freezes and iphone is not sybc fully, finally i have to disconnect my iphone for itunes to shunt down. Can some one please tell why this is happening?

I have iphone 4g and have updated to ios6 an updated itunes 2, but while sync itunes freezes and iphone is not sybc fully, finally i have to disconnect my iphone for itunes to shunt down. Can some one please tell why this is happening?

I am having this problem.  At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2.  I am not sure why this is happening.
My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
The problem mainly occurs with apps.  I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them.  The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage.  It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup.  With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up.  The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete.  This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
I have been wondering if others have had these same problems.

  • Ipod and itunes(especially itunes)will freeze while syncing

i pod and itunes will freeze while syncing, all apps are there, but no music?Itunes says ipod has latest updates, I reinstalled  Itunes, powered off/ sleep  a couple times still not syncing any help? Thanks

Which application are you watching the videos..... QuickTime, VLC, etc.?  Which version?  If QT are you using v10 or v 10.7.x?  The latter is located inside your Utilities folder.  If using VLC, you should  be using the latest version.
Type of video files = .mov, .mp4, .mkv, etc.?

  • TS4062 itunes stops working while syncing with ipad

Itunes progam closes while syncing with itunes.
    Please advise

This is happening to me too.., updated to latest Itunes/McCloud etc directly beforehand.  Tried to sync ipad.., keeps saying ITunes has stopped working (I have W7 Ultimate too).
I can see several slightly different ways of resolving this (most seem to involve completely uninstalling ITunes, Quicktime etc.) but a bit confused as to which one is the best way.  I don't expect to pay the money I have for an IPAD and then not be able to do the simplest thing with it (synch pc with Ipad) lol.., and have to spend hours trying to install and completely install different apps.
Could someone please have mercy on me and let me know which way works?

I'm trying to sync my ipad over wifi, with my MAC, I have the updated software on my MAC, the ipad is up to dat 6.1.2.  I can follow all of the steps, but I can't find a SUMMARY button on the toolbar, nor do I receive the option to sync.  What am I doing wrong or what should I look for?  Thank You

To sync your iPad over Wifi:
First ensure you're running iTunes 11.0.2. And you already have your iPad up to date, good.
Plug your iPad into the Mac via USB. Click your iPad in the top toolbar (under the search bar). Click the Summary tab if it isn't already selected. Check the box to "Sync with this iPad over Wi-Fi" (you may have to scroll down to see it). And now click the Apply button at the bottom right.
You should be able to unplug your iPad from the Mac and it should still remain in iTunes. (If not, try Quitting and relaunching iTunes and waiting, restarting iPad, etc).
To initiate a sync over Wifi, click your iPad in the toolbar in iTunes then click Sync. Or on your iPad, go to Settings > General > iTunes Wifi Sync and tap "Sync Now."
If this didn't solve your problem, please let me know with a more detailed explanation of what you're experiencing so I can try to help you get up and syncing wirelessly!

  • ITunes keeps freezing while syncing iPhone 4s

    Hi all,
This is an issue which seemingly came out of nowhere... sometime early-mid June, my iTunes stopped working with my Iphone 4s. This has been plaguing me since, and no matter what I have tried, nothing seems to be working. I have been reading through all sorts of related threads, but nothing seems to be working. iTunes has no problems recognizing the iPhone, whether over wireless or wired. When I attempt to sync my phone via wifi, it prompts me saying the session failed to start because the iPhone can not be found, or it simply disappears from the left bar. While trying to sync the phone via USB, the sync session starts as normal, backs up with no issue, transfers app purchases, etc, and proceeds to the final stages to update the music on my phone (sometimes Step 5, sometimes Step 6, and sometimes Step 7).
EVERYTIME without fail since the issue started, iTunes will completely freeze and render itself unresponsive. During the music sync, it may sync as many as 300 songs before freezing, or as few as 2. The spinning arrows indicating it is syncing stop rotating, and there is no functionality with iTunes and I am forced to start the Task Manager and End Program, or more often than not, completely reboot my computer.
I have tried multiple solutions presented in various threads, to no avail. I have tried restoring my phone, which gave me the most hope during the process, but sure enough, on the final step and syncing music, it froze at song 271 of 600.
Can someone PLEASE provide some insight into this issue? I know plenty of other people have experienced this, I am hoping to solve this soon as I am sure you can all understand it is EXTREMELY frustrating.
As a side note, I have plugged my iPad 2 in (also running iOS 5.1.1), and it worked fine!?
    Thanks in advance.

Have you received any resolution on this?  I've been having the same problem for some time and it was working intermittently, no not at all.  NEED HELP PLEASE!!!

  • IPodcauses itunes to crash while syncing

I just recently got my ipod touch 3rd generation. I'm running windows xp. I have my  itunes up to date (10.2.2.12). I've tried reading all the forums but can't find anything to fix it. Every time i try to sync my ipod it automatically starts syncing/backing up and can't have yet to make it to 100 songs before itunes crashes and the sync doesnt complete. i have around 4200 songs total. so far the methods i've tried to fix are as follows: [none of these worked]
    -deauthorize and re authorize itunes
    -uninstall and reinstall itunes
    -restart computer
-delete the "backup file" and add it back
-doing manual sync rather than auto sync
I did try syncing on my friends mac and it worked perfectly. we're both running itunes 10.2. But then when i tried to erase and re-sync my library it just caused itunes to crash again. so i think it either has to do with windows or my particular itunes somehow.
lastly, idk how much this helps but i have the "tuneUp" program on my computer that adds cover art and organizes your music. about 3 days ago it randomly quit working and i have yet to fix it. it may have changed itunes settings somehow??
please help! i really want to use my new ipod!!!!

It is certainly possible that the crash will or already has affected the OS that was being installed. It really depends on where it was at in the process of the install...
If you're up for it, then the safe side answer would be to do another full restore and start over...
As a side suggestion, if you do that then make sure you choose restore as new iPhone...NOT restore from backup when asked...
Also, if you use MAC to sync, then you can also delete the currently saved software OS being used by iTunes when a restore is performed...I'm sure you can do that using a PC I just have no idea where that file is located and stored on PC...Once deleted from the computer, when you click restore it forces iTunes to pull down a fresh copy of the latest OS from the Apple server...

  • ITunes 8 freezes while syncing with iPhone 3G

I am disappointed with iTunes 8 as it freezes when it is syncing with iPhone3G (2.1). I noticed that the phenomenon regularly occurs when certain music files and/or podcast files are being transferred. As a result, I cannot copy all the music/podcast files to my iPhone. This started immediately after upgrading to iTunes 8.
I wonder if this is related to Japanese OS (Windows XP, SP3) as I am aware that some other Japanese also have similar (probably identical) problems according to a discussion board on the internet.
Any suggestions and comments are welcomed.

    I have an iPhone 3g 2.1 + OS x 10.5.5 and itunes 8.0.1.
    While syncing:
The backup routine takes forever, but completes eventually.
Then it tries to sync applications, notably Texas "HoldEm" game. At this point iTunes is unresponsive.
To get everything going again, I have to quit iTunes, and restart the iPhone. Then I can try again, but it fails again at the same point.

  • ITunes error messages while syncing after 0SX 10.6.6 update

After installing the recent OSX 10.6.6 update, I am receiving the following error messages in iTunes when trying to sync both my iPhone 4 and my 1st generation Apple TV:
    iPhone error message:
"The iPhone cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to."
    Apple TV error message:
"iTunes cannot sync photos to the Apple TV because of a problem on your computer. The disk could not be read from or written to."
I'm not sure if this matters - but in the iPhone error message - it does not state if the "disk" is the iPhone or the computer - but in the Apple TV error message it does make this distinction, saying that the problem is on my computer and specifically mentions photos.
Now, once I dismiss either of the error messages, the sync progresses normally and completes successfully. Also, I have checked my computer (MacPro) and all diagnostics (including the internal hard drives) pass with flying colors. And the computer is working fine otherwise - so I have no reason to believe that there is a hardware problem with the computer. And I would find it very strange that I would have a hardware problem with both my iPhone and Apple TV appearing at the exact same time. And finally, both the iPhone and Apple TV are performing normally when in use.
Since this problem did not start until after running the 10.6.6 update - logic tells me that is where the problem probably lies.... the question is how to resolve it - anyone have any ideas?

Both those symptoms are consistent with a damaged photo cache. If you remove your existing photo cache as per the instructions in the following document, does that get you past the error?

  • ITunes 12 won't see iPhone 6 over wifi

I have an iPhone 6 running iOS8.0.2 and a Macbook Pro with Retina Display running Yosemite and iTunes 12. The same problem I've always had is still there - iTunes will not see my iPhone over wifi. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I can never predict when - if by some miracle it has, often it loses connection.
Yes, they are on the same wi-fi network.
Yes, they are both connecting to the net and getting 8mbps downstream.
Yes, the iPhone is charging (a ridiculous requirement thought up by a moron).
    Yes I've tried restarting everything.
This drives me mad - thought Apple was supposed to "Just Work". I've sat there and listened to Tim Cook et al describe the "seamless integration" as "magical". Yeah well my Sony Ericsson w880i "just worked" over bluetooth with my old macbook - that really was just magical - but my iPhone 3G, 4, 5 and now 6 never has - it's a joke - Apple make the computer, the phone, the operating systems and the music software and they can't get the two to connect? It's unbelievable. It's worse than Microsoft. Handover?? SORT THIS OUT FIRST!
Oh, and after typing this whole question, I get "You are not allowed to create or update this content."
What a bunch of losers - worst user experience ever.

I know this is off topic, but does anyone know how to manually sync and eject your ipod from version 12.01.26 of iTunes? I just upgraded to this version and now I cant find the icon and cant eject my ipod.

  • Mac will not sync with ipad over wifi

I have iTunes set to sync with the ipad over wifi; wifi is turned on on both mac and ipad; both are logged in but i can only sync using a cable plugged into the mac. Any ideas why.
    Thanks for the help

Your MacBook must be quite old.  My suggestion is to sell it and replace it with a newer model that can support later software.  You have probably received many years of good service from the old machine.
    Good luck.
