ITunes is stuck on "Purchasing", but hasn't started downloading

Hi All,
I’m hoping someone can help me. I’m trying to purchase The Walking Dead, Season 2, which is currently available as a Season Pass (despite the season being complete, now). I downloaded season 1, no problem, but when I try to download season 2, itunes just gets stuck on ‘Purchasing’, with the grey striped in motion in the info section at the top of the window.
I clicked the “Buy Season Pass” button, was prompted to enter my password, and the info section changed to “Purchasing”. The “Downloads” option on the left never appears. It’s been THREE HOURS. I could’ve showered, gotten dressed and driven to the mall to get dvds faster than this (provided that season 2 was available on dvd yet – it’s not, but it might be by the time itunes finally decides to download it!).
I’m getting extremely frustrated. Why should I use Apple products if they aren’t going it work?!
I’m running OS 10.6.8, iTunes 10.6.1.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Morning all,
The problem seems to have resolved itself this morning. I left iTunes running overnight, in the same state as above, and when I sat down a few minutes ago, it had changed to "Downloading". It's currently on the 4th of 16 downloads, so it was probably very recently that it resolved!
Perhaps a problem with the iTunes server...?

I would be eager to download and listen to a pre-ordered album as well. I found a couple of resources that might help with downloading this purchase.
First, I recommend checking to see if the download was interrupted. You can use the steps in this article:

If the album does not download after following the steps in that article, I recommend trying to download the album from the list of past purchases. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase the album, you will not be charged again. You can find the steps to do this in the section titled "Apps, Books, Music, Movies, or TV shows on a computer" in the following article:

You might, depending upon what country that you are in, be able to download them via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone, and the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes (or try the Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option on your computer's iTunes and see if that downloads them).
If you aren't in a country where music can be redownloaded, and you never downloaded those 14 tracks, then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

I pre-ordered an album, but a song was released after I pre-ordered it and it says purchased, but I can't download it.

About a week ago,I pre-ordered Prism by Katy Perry on my IPod and she had already released Roar and Dark Horse, which downloaded. But yesterday at midnight, Walking on Air. And this morning I tried to download it, it said purchased, but I couldn't download it.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? Please let me know if you have a solution.

The simplest way is to drag it across wirelessly using the 'Airdrop' application once both computers are near one another. 'Airdrop' can be found near the top, on the left hand side menu, within 'Finder'.

It should be within a few days, but it might vary a bit by bank/provider :

Rajagopal.pngr :- It is only a holding charge, it is not a permanent charge. If it isn't refunded within a few days or so (and it quite possibly won't be over a weekend) then you can query the charge with Apple.

ITunes Store Available for Purchases, but "Unavailable" when Downloading?

Is anyone else having troubles with purchases from the iTunes Store? I've browsed, sampled music, accessed my account all without any problem. It even processed my purchase and charged me for it, complete with receipt. However, the purchase stays in my "Downloads Available" iTunes Store folder.
It shows I have 12 downloads, but won't list the names of tracks to process. Whenever I click the arrow at the bottom to begin downloads, I get a message that says "Unable to check for available downloads. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
It obviously IS available since I can shop and be billed just fine. The problem is in product delivery! I've even tried downloading the tracks to other machines with authorization on my account, planning on transferring them through shared libraries later. It makes no difference. They won't download on any of my machines regardless of the operating system Windows XP, Vista, or 7. I still get the same message.
I just purchased other music 4 days ago without difficulty. I can't find anything online about the status of the iTunes Store functionality. I've yet to receive a response from Apple support.
Anyone else having similar problems? Anyone with a solution? I've checked all my firewall settings, even though nothing has changed since my last purchase and it obviously isn't machine specific since it is affecting all laptops and desk tops that I own.

I have had a similar problem, and I have done an internet search to see if anyone else had the problem. It seems that Apple Discussions has the most up-to-date information.

I had about 58 purchases stuck in my download queue, including TV series, pre-purchased content, and iPhone/iTouch applications that just wouldn't download even if I deleted them from my Mobile Applications folder (but I could download them on my iTouch - weird). The download weirdness started with one download being stuck in iTunes 8, and I hoped that it would get better once iTunes 9 came out. But it only got worse. I was becoming desperate.
I had a lot of things happen in my life, so I didn't take action until last week. I was armed with my references to the Apple Discussions, the copy of the above-mentioned blog, and my previous e-mails from the iTunes Store. I went to the iTunes Support site and asked to chat with Support.
I chatted with a really nice fellow, Tito T., who took a look at my situation and was really helpful. He was able to clear up the problem. It was interesting because the technicians ran into the "Unable to check for available downloads...." dialog box themselves, so they had to investigate further. I suggested that iTunes needed to look into the problem because it was fairly widespread. He said that iTunes would look into it because they were concerned about problems with the software.

So i've found the answer to this by clicking on every menu and setting in the itunes store. It turns out some purchases in the cloud can be hidden probably as the result of an interrupted transfer/sync/backup or a network outage. To unhide purchases 'greyed out ' items , go to the Itunes store (on the PC) click on your account name and select view account. (you'll be prompted for your itunes password) once you are in scroll down to the purchase history section. there should be an option for hidden purchases. click through and click on unhide purchases, redownloadble purchases. any hidden purchases will then show up. click on unhide to reactivate and download. This may only work for purchases in the cloud.
