ITunes is telling me "No Disc Recording Software Found"?

Hi,
An error has appeared on my iTunes -- it says when I try to burn a disc, there's no disc recording software found. I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. The same message came up, I was expecting my music to be gone as well (I had backed it up on my external drive), and I'm stumped. Can anyone help me figure out how to get the disc recording software onto my computer without me having to drag myself over to Geek Squad?

  • Itunes failed to install properly / disc recording not found

Bought my daughter a new notebook (hp pavillion dv9000 w/ windows vista)& every time I install itunes the error message that it was "not installed correctly & may not import from cd's be able to burn cd's" appears. I've uninstalled itunes & quicktime and then reinstalled several times only to have the same error. All updates are done. Itunes will recognize a cd in the drive and import, but when attemting to burn to cd it displays "disc recording not found". Couldn't find anything on the support page. Any one care to offer any help for a frustrated father?

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP,head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

  • I have updated to lion. Set up an iCloud so contacts and calendar are shared between iMac iPhone 4s and iPad 1. But iTunes is telling me to update the software on the iPad and iPhone, but it just gets stuck contacting the software server. What should I do

I have updated my iMac to lion so I can use iCloud to share contacts and calendar between iPhone 4s and iPads 1.  Somehow it seems to have worked although still not sure how to move stuff in and out of iCloud.  iTunes is telling me to update the software on the phone and iPad. When I try to do this it just gets stuck with a box saying connecting to software update server. This has never happened before.  I cannot update or restore either the phone or the iPad in iTunes although I have synced the info.  What should I do?

Something went wrong with the update, this can and does happen with every version of iOS.
There is nothing wrong with the update.
Simply restore the device via iTunes on the computer.
If iTunes is stating it will take hours to update, that indicates an extremely slow Internet connection and is likely the reason the OTA update failed.

  • Trying to burn a cd but getting a message disc recording not found.

I am trying to burn a cd from a playlist, but I keep getting a message that says 'Disc Recording not found'. Also when I start itunes an error message appears that says "The registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing cds and dvds are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, and also repairing and nothing has worked. I have not installed any cd burning software. How can I fix this problem??

  • Cannot burn songs to CD  disc recording not found

Our PC is Windows XP SP2. I have I-Tunes 7.0.2. I have created a playlist of 1.1 hours of songs and attempting to burn to a 74 minute CD and when I click BURN I get a flashing message of disc recording not found. I have not burned any CDs since I have upgraded to this release. I have also tried another new blank CD with the same message. Any ideas ?

I have the same message pop up and found out the recording software was removed and I have to reinstall itunes. Do you have any other recording software on your PC? I added WMP and I think that removed it from my itunes. Wish someone would tell us about this nonsense before we do things like that.

  • "Disc Recording not found"

I'm trying to burn a playlist to an audio cd. I have tried so many times and it doesn't work. I downloaded some mp3 files from another source and burned those using the burner on my laptop. I can use my cd burner that way, but I can't get it to work from iTunes. Can someone help me? I have not idea what "Disc Recording not found" means or why I'm getting it!

  • Im trying to burn a cd but its saying disc recording not found

I used to be able to burn cd and play them on itunes but now its not working and says either disc recording not found or please enter blank disc even though i have entered a blank disc

I actually solved this problem myself.  I discovered, while playing around with the new iTunes, that clicking on PLAYLISTS on the menu bar shows the playlists that I have created on the left side of the window (like the old iTunes used to do by default).  I scrolled down to the playlist I wanted to burn to a CD, right-clicked on it, and a menu came up.  I selected DOWNLOAD....this downloads my playlist songs from the cloud to my computer hard drive.  After that, the little "cloud pictures" next to my songs disappeared, and I was able to burn the CD with no problems.
I hope this helps someone else....I was quite lost for a while.  Which is amazing, considering how user-friendly most Apple products have historically been.
