Itunes IS truncating idtags. Why?
Yes. Itunes 8.1.1.10 IS responsible for truncating idtags. Here's when, and how this problem comes up for myself.
If an album's title is named like the following examples:
Moog and Mooger [IMPORT]
Moog Mooger and Moogerer (The Moog)
Moog Mooger [CD1]
Then itunes truncates information following the first [ or ( after my method for sorting albums in the order in which they were released. By this, I mean to say that in the "sort album" field, I enter "1901 Moog Mooger". As soon as I do that, boom, itunes truncates the information I mentioned. iTunes also deletes the files' artwork after the album sort field, but it does that no matter what.
No other id writing tool could be responsible for this. iTunes is DEFINITELY the culprit.
Anybody have an idea why, or how to make this stop? If only Apple would do what numerous have longed for, allow ipods to sort albums by year, and not title. That, unfortunately, is far much to hope for.

Funny you should mention that. For the past few hours I've been tinkering with differing id versions and combinations thereof.
Under all circumstances I can add an album to iTunes with no problem. The tags don't change. If the tags are 2.4 everything happens as I've described.
If the tags are 2.3, then the same thing happens.
If the tags are id3v1, all tag data is truncated upon the application of an album sort parameter.
If the tags are saved with id3v1/idsl2.4/APEv2 data, same result.
If tags are saved with only 2.3 data, then added to iTunes and I have iTunes convert idtags to 2.4, random results occur.
The only constant I can pick up on is that artwork is always truncated or, possibly, overwritten with bum data. That doesn't seem likely, though.
I've tried just about all tag formats and combinations. I'm pretty sure this is all on iTunes.
--Oh, and to address some concerns I've read about. WMP isn't even installed on this machine, although I've tested on a machine that does have WMP11 installed. Also, I know about total filename/path length causing tags to truncate in Win32 machines. This isn't the issue.

put movies in itunes on one computer why does it not show up when i access itunes from other computers or ipad2?
i just purchased a file that had videos in it. i put them in the itunes library on my pc where i first downloaded them. i was able to transfer them to my other pc, a laptop, through my home network. i am now trying to get them on my mac pro desktop and my ipad2. my mac pro can see the other computers on my home network but i cannot get it to connect to them. i know the operating systems are different but was hoping i could transfer pictures and files from pc to mac this way. haven't been able to get it to work yet. the videos i am trying to get my mac to see came in a folder with both mac and pc versions. i thought if i got the videos i purchased into itunes that i would then be able to get them to my mac pro and my ipad2. i am new to mac/apple and have always been pc-centric so trying to marry it all has been difficult. i speak pc pretty well but am just learning apple. am i trying to do things that are not possible? i sure could use a knowledgable friendly soul to walk me through my issues of having pc and mac on the same network. i have been able to get all computers and ipad to print on my network. thanks.

i have a problem when i try to update or install apps in my ipad, and a message come up says "can not connect to Itunes Store", anyone know why? please advise. however i had update all my detail of payment method.
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Power cycle the router.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved. -

I have an ipod touch and have no similar issues - is this an itunes account setup issue?Have you tried logging out of your account via Settings > Store and tapping on your account id on the right-hand side, and the logging back in to see if that makes any difference ?
You could also try a reset and see if you can then download them after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
A third option is to download one of the updates to your computer's iTunes and connect your iPad to it and sync it across, and then see if you can download the other apps/updates directly on the iPad. -

Let's keep it simple...
1) Make a new user - the steps are in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1199
2) Log into that user, open iTunes, agree, etc. - it will probably work
3) If it does, it tells us that iTunes (the program) is fine but it's encountering something unexpected
4) Go back to your user, and try to open iTunes while holding option and making a new library - like suggested in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589
5) Your iTunes will be empty. This is ok. Your files are not touched by this process.
6) If iTunes doesn't quit when loading an empty library, you could try rebuilding the iTunes Library as Apple documents in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
7) If iTunes does quit, it could be trying to grab something - like photo information to sync to your iPad - and that's where it finds the unexpected data. Maybe try moving the iPod Photo Cache? http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1324 should guide you for how to do that.
If you tell us whether it is library-specific, user-specific, or system-wide (happens in both users), we could maybe give you better advice on what's going on.'
If the new user has the same behavior, maybe remove the SC Info folder - there are not many system-wide files iTunes touches. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389 covers how to remove that invisible folder.
iTunes uses /Applications/iTunes.app, /Users/Shared/SC Info, ~/Music/iTunes/ and ~/Library/Preferences/ and a bunch of other files. I don't think focusing on /Applications/iTunes/app or other system-wide files is going to be as effective as knowing whether the issue is system-wide or user-specific.

ITunes & iRadio streaming issues, why?

All this week I have been experianceing issues with either my iTunes Store giving me iTunes store errors windows along with the iRadio player acting up also. I have contacted apple support to clear caches along with anything else that needs clearing out. Well tonight the issues returned, I have to make an educated guess and say it's not at my end.
Has anyone else experianced similar issues, update me.

Being positive and not being unhelpful is not what these forums are about, then you also mentioned,

There are a few tv shows that played this week that are not available on itunes from tnt. Why are they not available for download. We watch these each week, and I have checked to be sure that there was actually an episode this week, and there was.
Under other "sync-able" players, there's usually the "Sync only checked items" radio button. Not for the 2.0 Apple TV. There's no option, but acts as though that option ("sync only, etc...") has been selected. Figured it out after an hour of walking back and forth from my Mac to the TV. Argh.
Try it. De-select the shows, sync the AppleTV and look under the "TV Shows" and the one's you've unchecked will not be there.
