ITunes isn't importing properly

In using iTunes to import tunes from a CD it appears to read every track but only stores every other track (odd numbered). I end up de-selecting the odd numbered tracks and re-importing. The second track is often missed. Any suggestions?

Just to clarify, the imported m3u8 playlist shows up just fine in iTunes - all the songs are there, and they can be played. It's just that the Music Library doesn't get updated for some reason.

- I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

I have installed iTunes on my new Windows 8 laptop and I get the "iTunes is not installed properly. If you wish to Import or burn CDs you need to reinstall iTunes."
I have worked with Dell technicians and we have re-installed iTunes numerous times. We modified the Registry by adding the Upper Filters key and we removed the CD player in Device Manager and allowed it to be automatically reinstalled by the computer. All of this failed.
Please help!

ITunes not importing properly

I just added songs from my computer to my itunes. The songs are showing in the library but Im unable to play them. The 'copying 1 of 50' bar froze and so did the analysing artwork. iTunes hasnt been closing properly too, I have re-downloaded iTunes so that it would repair itself and it added all the songs that were playing up but now its stuffing up again. How do i get them to upload?

If you redownloaded iTunes, my best guess is that there is a deeper problem with your computer. Either that or you running an older machine that doesn't have enough processor power for iTunes.

Can not connect to the App store I keep getting a connection failure message. Mail and Safari are working fine. Also Iphoto wont update to newer version and itunes does open up properly.

I have recently bought a new imac. Imported all my files etc. from my G5 using Timemachine.
Iphoto requires updating but wont!

If you check for software updates using the App Store in OS X 10.8 and get "NSURLErrorDomain error -1100" the problem may be with your Software Update preferences. This is particularly likely if you were using a custom Apple Software Update server. Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Itunes freezes when importing cd's

Everytime I try to import a cd itunes freezes on track 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12. I have to force quit itunes like a dozen times before itunes quits and I can remove the cd from the drive. What is going on? Is it some setting I have? This happens on 9 out of 10 cd's. They are not very scrathed up at all. Any ideas?

Same happening here. If I have a CD which iTunes isn't happy with (presumably too scratched), iTunes just locks up. The machine won't let me bring up the force-quit dialog, nor can I easily switch to other programs (and when I do, the whole machine is really sluggish).
I'm going to switch off the audio correction option for importing -- my guess is that iTunes just gets in an infinite loop trying to read corrupt data from a CD, and slowly ends up hogging all the Mac's resources.

ITunes no longer imports or plays CD's

I'm running iTunes 8 on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and I've run into a problem where if I try to import a CD, iTunes starts to import the first track, then just proceeds to skip through every track until it reaches the end with nothing imported. As it tries to import, you can see the little animated importing animation to the left of the song, but it only lasts a second or so then moves to the other tracks and does the same until the end.
I get this same issue when trying to play a CD, with iTunes skipping through all the tracks trying to play something. I've done the iTunes diagnostics for the CD drive, and all tests have passed. CDs play fine in Windows Media Player BTW.

I bought vista home premium and was disappointed to discover it does not come with a x64 bit disk. I used vista 32 bit software and had absolutely no problems with iTunes. After a fresh install of vista for 64 bit iTunes no longer works properly. I can still play anything I transferred from my backup HD but no importing is possible.
I have tried the error correction with no success. I tried installing and running 32 bit iTunes and it gives me an error saying something to the effect of "iTunes is improperly installed. You may need to reinstall iTunes to fix this problem."
I have a hard time believing that this is due to a x64 bit problem as Apple has used this technology longer than most. Is this an issue with the latest iTunes? I am going to fuss with it some more but I'm very frustrated that I can bearly use the new iPod I bought. Any suggestions from Apple users as well as Dark Side (*vista or windows in general :)*) users would be awesome.

How did you transfer the photos from your other iPhone? If you did it by importing them from the old phone to a computer and then used iTunes to sync them back to the new phone, then you would delete them by syncing again using iTunes but this time change the selection of which photos are to be synced. Each time you sync using iTunes, it sets the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone to match the current settings/selection in iTunes.

Slow down with iTunes 7 even if itunes isn't running?

I've read a number of posts here and elsewhere that iTunes 7 can eat up system resources and slowdown your computer. However, I've been having problems even when iTunes isn't running. As in my copy of photoshop stutters and hangs a lot, even when doing something simple like painting on a large document, 3d renders stop or crash, even simple stuff like opening windows explorer seems to halt before springing back to life every once in awhile. And this happens even if I haven't opened iTunes, and I started noticing these issues at about the same time that I installed 7.0 Has anyone else noticed this? Or is the slowdown only occuring for you once you've launched itunes?

It is hard to say what particular part of the Windows installation is having trouble. Keep in mind that any installation of software as complicated (CD burning, device drivers, network discovery, video playback, Internet connectivity) as iTunes is going to touch many parts of the installed OS. Any corruption in the places touched could be exacerbated by the update.
iTunes 7.5 has been available for download from Apple for over 6 hours now, and so far it appears that you are the only person reporting this specific problem here. While it's still possible that iTunes is the culprit, it seems more likely that there is some other variable involved.
You could start by isolating away user-specific files by testing the issue in a new Windows user. Import a few CDs into a pristine iTunes library in the default location (in your Music folder on the C: drive) and that eliminates a lot of possible causes.
