Itunes isn't responding. help

I was loading some cds onto itunes and then all of a sudden the loading pinwheel curser shows up, I force quit and started it up again, but the same thing happened. I shutdown and restarted but it still wont respond. I have no idea what to do. any help would be appreciated.

What you describe sounds like what happens when a scratch or other physical defect is encountered on a CD. Probably your optical drive is not so great at correcting read errors (this has far more to do with hardware than with software) and this is the result. Unfortunately, iTunes isn't very graceful about handling this sort of problem, and the usual outcome is that the application will hang with no indication to the user as to the nature of the problem.
If you can see a physical defect on the CD, it may be worthwhile to clean it or repair it (e.g. with Brasso). Alternatively, you could try ripping the CD with Max, using the paranoia ripper. The rip might take a long time, but the output files will probably sound nearly perfect. Even if the ripping seems to get stuck (it will eventually finish if you allow it to), you can quit the program with no ill effects.

  • Just bought iPod...iTunes isn't working HELP

I just got my iPod for christmas and I installed the software when I got home. It said it installed properly...then I go to click on it and some information thing flashes once and then doesn't work. iTunes just is not working. I have reinstalled it at least 10 times... Please help me. I don't want this to be a waste of $300.

My itunes was working for about three weeks then it just stopped working. My ipod was also backing up and charging and now it is doing nothing. I have removed the program more than once and downloaded from itunes but not from Apple.com. Will that make a difference.

  • 'get info' on itunes isn't responding

I just uploading my itunes to the current version to get the 'get info' bar and now it isnt responding why is this?

I just updated to 10.5 today and now "Get Info" freezes when you enter a letter in the author"s name or the Album name.  Of course trying to find a solution in the Apple web site is impossible.  Owning an iPhone and an iPad and using iTunes doesn't qualify a customer for some form of support when Apple's latest release has bugs.
I am not a satisfied customer.

Try following steps one at a time:
    1. Restart computer, right mouse click iTunes icon and select "Run As Administrator"
    2. If that does not work, check to see if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
    Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in
    MSCONFIG
    Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
    Restart Windows.
    3. If that fails or you don't see ApsDaemon.exe in the Processes, refer to following article to remove SC files:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
    4. If that fails, repair or reinstall your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - New cable and different USB port

  • ITunes no longer responds... Please help!

Since I updated the latest version of iTunes, it no longer responds... I open it up and it'll just have an open window on the bottom of the screen. But not only does it only give me the option to close when I right click the window, after I close it says "iTunes is not responding..." My iPod seems fine it charges up and plays normally, but not iTunes since I updated it.
I tried to download it again, but it asked if I wanted to repair files or remove iTunes. I chose repair and it went according to plan, but no change. PLEASE help!

I googled on "Windows Installer Service could not be accessed" and the one I posted was the top hit. There were others from the Microsoft website - it sure seems like a WIndows problem, and not necessarily an iTunes problem.
This second hit talks about re-registering the Windows Installer service.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Help. When i open iTunes the dreaded wheel of doom keeps spinning but itunes wont open or allow me to do anything. When i force quit it shows itunes as "not responding".

You need a firewire cable (6 pin to 4 pin). These are very cheap online if you Google, or you can find at Radio Shack etc.

  • Help! My Ipod isn't responding to anything :-/ any ideas on what to do?

My Ipod isn't responding to anything. I was listening to it and then I stopped listening to it. Two hours later I tried to turn in on and it wasn't turning on. I checked to see if the hold was on, I tried holding the center button for 10 seconds. I also just charged it last night so it had full a battery. I also plugged it into my computer and it's not registering it at all. The screen is just black. I already know that i can change it to disk mode or whatever, but I can't because it won't respond to anything! Please help! I really need my Ipod! Thanks!

Try sliding the switch/hold back and forth a couple times, and then reset it 3 or 4 more times (in a row). And if that doesn't do anything, you might just have to take it to your local apple store!

  • "DNS server isn't responding" only after I start iTunes

I currently have iTunes 11.2.2.3 installed on a laptop running Windows 7 Professional. I've been using iTunes running on this laptop for a few years. I'm connecting to the internet via a wireless router.
This morning I noticed that I am unable to connect to the internet after I start iTunes. Specifically, I have replicated the following multiple times:
    1. Start machine after being completely powered down.
    2. Start web browser.
    3. Load web pages on web browser successfully.
    4. Start iTunes.
    5. iTunes cannot connect to iTunes store (e.g., update podcasts).
    6. Web browser no longer loads web pages.
    7. Right click on wireless icon in system tray and select "Troubleshoot problems".
    8. Troublshooting session reports "DNS server isn't responding".

After further troubleshooting I found that the likely problem was with my Norton 360 installation. The repeatability of the steps above had to do with timing, in that when I restarted the computer there was a window during which I could access the Internet. Upon close monitoring I noticed that it took a while after startup for the Norton icon to appear in the system tray. Apparently once Norton 360 was fully started, then I would loose Internet connectivity.
As far as I can tell, the problem was not fixable by configuring Norton 360. In fact the Norton 360 interface would freeze up when I tried to access the security settings. So I uninstalled and reinstalled Norton 360, and so far it seems to have resolved the problem.
The issue with Norton 360 may have been caused by some ongoing system instablity (i.e., BSOD episodes). I'm hoping that the instability itself was actually caused by the previous Norton 360 installation, and will be fixed by this reinstallation.
