ITunes isn't working

I have my iPod set to manually manage my music. But ever since I downloaded the newest version of iTunes I can't put music on my iPod from my computer or edit anything on the device. Whenever I try a little box pops up that says my iPod couldn't be synced, and that an error occurred (-48). Please help?

hi jocko!
"Quicktime version 7.0d0 is installed, iTunes requires Quicktime version 7.0.3 or later.
hmmmm. that 7.0d0 message again.
okay, try uninstalling your existing QT again. then download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and use it to remove any leftover QT installation registry entries:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
after that's done, let's try a standalone QT 7.0.3 install, taking a few additional precautions.
Download and save a copy of the installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off any antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.0.3 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly?
keep us posted.

  • My music with iTunes isn't working! HELP ME!

So I just got on the computer and opened my iTunes and I double clicked on a song and it didn't work. It said "The song --------- could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" and obviously the answers are Yes and No. And it was working perfectly fine today.
So I don't understand at all.
    What is going on?
    I need help.
And I don't know where to find the original files.
    PLEASE HELP ME!

OK! I probably am a bit hand-holdish. I'm getting this response too and I've tried changing the loaction as per instructions in iTunes help but it still isn't working.
    Please help!

  • My iTunes isn't working? It keeps coming up with 'iTunes has stopped working' and closes the program?

My iTunes closes itself everytime I open it after saying 'iTunes has stopped working'. It's really frustrating and I am rubbish with computers so not sure what to do
    can anyone help me?

Go to your computer's System Tray and try ejecting.  If you can't eject, there is an application that is trying to access your iPod.
Go to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx and download ProcessExplorer.
Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555665 and follow the instructions under Resolution.
Note that this is a good, general process any time you can't access any file.
In my case an update to RealPlayer installed a program called RecordingManager that was accessing my iPod.

  • TS1363 "iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes" Isn't working!

I've tried all of the things in the "iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes" but none of them work.
I'm on Windows 8 and those are the instrucations I've followed.
The only thing I haven't done is reset my computer to factory mode but that Isn't an option for me cause I got saved games that can't be backed up.
I've literaly tried everything in that help page and it doesn't work.
All I get is the iTouch charging, asking me to trust the computer, I say trust, nothing happens, I check the device manager and it doesn't shw the USB no matter what, I restart the ipod services and the apple software services, nothing happens, I completely take dwn my McAfee firewall and scanning system, it doesn't work, restarting it to make sure no viruses attack, uninstalled Razer Synapsis because it has been a pain in the butt before, that doesn't work, I emptied my Temp file and that didn't work, And in the end the iTouch is charging but not even being see by Itunes and no updates, restarts, reinstallations, uninstallations, checking, researching, and anything else I can do works.
Can someone please explain why apple tech is such a pain when it comes to Windows 8 and how I can fix this without losing 2 years worth of school and saved games?!?!?!?

Try a full teardown as in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates?
A recent poster to forum is suggesting uninstalling WMP from Windows?
Connect the device to a different compuer and back it up there. You should be able to copy off the library to a portable hard drive. See also Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

All I do is download the x64 bit version of itunes, turn off the AV, install using administrator rights, and reboot.  The application installs fine and it opens up however when I go to use the application it loads about 90% of the itunes store and then throws a windows error box stating the application has stopped responding.

I have the same issue with Windows 8. I have a brand new computer. All my music was carried over to my new computer from my old computer using the icloud. However, I cannot sync my ipod nano 7 to the new computer. Same thing happens. It says it is synching but nothing happens. I have found that it will allow me to sync my purchased songs but not the rest of the content. I am beyond annoyed. I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it and even tried resetting my ipod nano to factory settings. Any advice????

  • My iPod touch isn't taking my iTunes card? iTunes isn't working or loading

  • My itunes isn't working correctly - the payments

Okay, I let my brother use my Apple ID then he like put on a prepaid card and then tried to make a purchase with it, but he didn't tell me and I changed my password and the card has no money left and it's say sign in to continue but there's no none option

When you delete an app and redownload it, you are downloading the most recent version of the app from the App store.  In other words, it isn't stored in your iCloud account, it's only stored in the App store.  The iCloud download symbols are just links to your previously purchased apps in the App store so you can redownload them.
If redownloading the app didn't help, call Dish back as there must be a problem with the current version of the app.

  • HT4623 My iTunes isn't working

Since the ios7 update my iItubes isn't working

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • My iPhone 5 isn't syncing and my iTunes isn't working!

    Hi guys,
I've been spending hours and hours trying to rectify this iTunes problem I've been having. Basically whenever I open iTunes 11.0.5.5 on my Windows 7 PC an error box pops up saying 'A required iTunes component is not installed. Please reinstall iTunes. (-42404)'. I've reinstalled a million times and the error keeps on occuring. I've also tried uninstalling all Apple softwares and then doing a fresh install of iTunes as lots of Apple members recommend but it still comes up! Any ideas to what could be causing this?
Also, when I plug my iPhone 5 in, ANOTHER box comes up saying that 'This iPhone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes.' I've been installing the 64-bit version already however, so I don't understand how there would be a compatibility issue.
    Thanks so much!

I would try restarting your computer for your first problem.
For your phone, if you have a different cord try using that. Or possibly use a different USB port in your computer.

  • ITunes isn't working, and I can't work out what to do

Hi, been trying (half-heartedly for the last 8 months) to sort out iTunes on our eMac. We currently have iTune 4.9 on, but it won't play anything. Have tried in the past to delete the application, as advised by someone previously, but I can't as I haven't got it's root or something to that effect.
Please help as my husband can't use his music!

    Hello jammymummy,
sorry to hear about your iTunes woes.
    8 months.... Ouch! I don't have a solution for
yall but I do have a couple of suggestions.
    1. Post your question again; however, post
it at the Mac OS X v10.3 & earlier category. It is located to the right of the
iTunes category on the discussions page. I have seen questions regarding
v10.2 there. Include the part about how you may have deleted another
iTunes version. Important... before you post the question open iTunes
and in the header bar under iTunes select about iTunes. Write down
which version you have (3 numbers) to include it in your post. Then go the
apple at the top left of the screen and from the pull down menu select
about this Mac. Again write down 3 numbers which version of Mac OS X
you have. Then select more info so you can include in your post your
CPU speed, how much RAM and HD size. In your finder window look at the
bottom to see how much space is left on it.
    2. Since you mentioned the deleting files it would
be a good idea to do some hard drive routine maintenance.
Nothing in-depth or difficult usually just a few steps.
Ask about repairing permissions with disk utility.
As I do not have v10.2 I can not help yall further.
I hope these suggestions will help you some.
Like millions of others we just want our Macs to do
a few things and music is one of those things.
8 months...Wow! Yall have patience. Hope this helps you.
    Good Luck & Cheers,
    A

Tried it with Nortons antivirus turned on and turned off etc.   I've gone through the Apple Support file and removed the itunes preference files, I've started in safe mode and it still persists.  This only started about a week ago when I changed over to my Iphone 4s.  My phone loaded fine and backed up etc and now NOTHING....

I had a similar error, but relating to a different .dll file and on 32-bit Win7.  I think I isolated the problem to Norton Internet Security 2012 v 18.6.0.29 - iTunes would start fine with NAV Antivirus Auto-Protect disabled but crashed if Auto-Protect was on.  I tried running iTunes as administrator (right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"; to make this permanent right click on the icon > Properties > On the Shortcut tab, click Advanced > tick Run as Administrator) and iTunes now runs fine.  Maybe give that a try?
