Itunes issues on windows 8

I just bought a new computer with windows 8. I downloaded itunes and signed in. Initially my music played, then when I shut if off and went back, all of the songs were light gray in color and would not play. Then when I went back again, it's as if I don't have any songs at all. Help!

Hi RLMChi,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with iTunes. If you are still having issues connecting to the iTunes Store from your Windows 8.1 computer (but not your tablet on the same connection), you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

    Hi,
It's pointless to use that ammount of ram under Win9x/Me as it will be slower then if you use only 256MB witch is the optimal ammount for these OS'ses.
So you better take 256 out or move to Win2000/XP....

  • Itunes issues with Windows having to do with Apple's patent

I had a thought and am not sure if it's right. I was wondering if myissues with Apple Itunes store on Windows 7 has anything to do with the Patent laws and all with Apple and samsung and all that.

I had the same issues with Windows 8 Consumer Preview. I installed on a fresh system and still had issues.
I experienced extreme lag, with pretty much everything, and iTunes freezing once I attempted to change the currently playing song.
I had a mess with compatibility mode and found out that running it in with Compatibility mode enabled for Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and as an administrator fixed it. It works now, however, there is a popup message that comes up on launch telling you to change the compatibility settings, but pressing "OK" makes it go away.
    How?
Open Windows Explorer, and navigate to: "C:\Program Files\iTunes" (For 32bit) or "C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes" (For 64bit), unless you changed it.
Right-click on "iTunes.exe", select "Properties" from the context menu, and click the "Compatibility" tab.
Under "Compatibility mode" check off "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" from the drop down menu.
Further down under "Privilege level" check off "Run this program as an administrator".
    Click "Apply" and "OK".
Should fix any issues, I have my default iTunes Media Folder Location within an external hard drive so unplugging all of my USB's wasn't an option.
    Hope I helped!

  • ITunes issues with Windows 7 64 bit

SO i upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit and I see 10s of thousands of posts lamenting the fact that iTunes does not work with Wondows 7 64 bit.  This is an Apple issue not a Microsoft issue.  I expect more from Apple.  I am now hostage to the many many $$ and time I've invested in Apple TV and programs, iTunes music, etc. . .  Apple has dropped the ball and I want to know when they will fix this debacle?

Did you download the 64bit version of iTunes? I have Win7 Pro 64 bit and iTunes works on my pc. Just keep in mind that when you upgrade your OS, that doesn't mean that your programs automatically switch to 64 bit too, you may need to do a lot of re-installing of some of your programs

  • ITunes issues with Windows XP - crazy error message

I've been using iTunes with XP and have no issues for years now. Today, when I went to open iTunes I received a message that Windows was configuring iTunes for installation. I am unable to complete installation and I receive this message..."Error writing to file C\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesResources\pl.lproj\DevicePrefsPodcasts.nib\objects.xib.
Verify that you have access to that directory
Anybody have any idea what this is about, thanks.
When I cancel out I get a Problem with Shortcut box, Fatal error occurred during installation!

One more question though under Program Files-iTunes, I have multiple iTunes folders, labeled iTunes(2) and iTunes(4). Should I delete these or leave them alone?
I don't think they're any immediate cause for alarm if they're what I think they are ... have you done some system restores on that PC at some stage, Matt? If a system restore is done to a restore point "over the top" of an installation or upgrade of a program, sometimes the system restore will put program files dating back to the previous version back on the PC. By design, it doesn't want to overwirte existing files on the PC, so it renames the top-most folder containing the files it has put back "<Program name> (2)" or "<Program name> (3)" if there's already a "(2)" and so on.
(Because the installation database for the program doesn't realise that there are any such files in folders "<Program name> (2)" etc files on the PC, they generally don't get removed in the course of regular subsequent updates or uninstall/reinstalls of the program and they stay lurking around on the PC ... it's actually precisely the same phenomenon that we just exploited in order to convince the iTunes repair install to go through ...)

  • After updating with iTunes 12.1 for Windows 8.1, when I restarted my computer, my headphones no longer work. According to my computer they do. Is this an iTunes issue?

After updating with iTunes 12.1 for Windows 8.1, when I restarted my computer, my headphones no longer work. According to my computer they do. Is this an iTunes issue? I did the audio troubleshooting and it says everything is fine. I have a Toshiba Satellite L75D-A7280.

Download/install an app is a know possible solution.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.

  • ITunes (11.1.3.8) issues with Windows 8.1

This was working fine until now (perhaps last Windows 8.1 update abour 2-3 weeks ago). I have noticed that iTunes has started playing up across several reported fronts. Given I have multiple reported issues, is there any specific order I should try to fix these in as i have found no permanent fix it appears?
The following iTunes issues are occurring:
"The registry settings used by iTunes for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing" message - each time iTunes opens
Devices are not being listed in iTunes on a consistent basis (Apple TV software version 3.0.2, ipod, ipad) - Intermittent
Apple TV does appear it does not sync "Check that any firewall software running on this computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689". - Intermittent
Playlists do not sync across devices. These need to be removed then re-installed.
I have noticed that the following components:
Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed when connecting to iphone
Apple TV is my main focus as the kids are hounding me to get this working (sync with iTunes TV shows)
I have done the following to date:
Applied Apple TV port setting via McAfee firewall (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2709)
    Turned on/off wi-fi
    Turned on/off Apple TV
Restored Apple TV to factory settings
Removed existing iTunes library and reapplied device and library
Uninstalled iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later) in order and Reinstalled (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923)
Stop/Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538)
This has not resolved anything permanently it appears.
Based on existing Apples feedback, I will look to do the following to fix the CD/DVD message
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3299
If you have any support or guidance, it will be most appreciated.
    Cheers - Happy New Year!

  • Windows 8 and Itunes Issues

I just recently got windows 8. Event though I purchased new songs through itunes, I cannot access them now, nor can I transfer my songs from my ipod to my laptop. There may be compatibility issues with Windows 8 and itunes. Any suggestions?

Im not sure that will solve the issue I have with itunes. I have a lenovo laptop and I think it's just an issue with Apple who has to modify the program for users of Windows 8 so that itunes can be used and to find purchased music. I found the music I purchased through itunes but it's not the full tracks. It said it allows me to download it fully so I can hear the whole track, but needs some kind of capatibility? I have no idea what the problem is. If someone has the answer knowing my computer brand and having windows 8 compatibility issues, please let me know what you suggest.

  • ITunes 10.5 installation issue on windows 7 x64

I can't install iTunes on my Windows 7 x64 laptop. After turning off UAC, I get the following error: "An error occured while attempting to create the directory: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu" How can I fix this? Thanks in advance.

I am so frustrated. I have tried everything on here and the Microsoft forums but I cannot install iTunes 10.5.0.142 or 10.5.1.42 on my Windows 7 64 bit computer.
During the install, regardless of whether I do it manually or automatically I get the following error -
An error occurred during the installation of assembly "Microsoft VC80.CRT.type="win32".version="8.0.507276195".publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b" .processotArchitecture="x86"". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x80070057.
I have uninstalled all apple components, in the coorect sequence, cleared the registry and checked that windows is up to date. I have repaired the installation of .Net Framework and Visual C++ through control panel and I still get the error.
I can reinstall itunes 10.4.1.10 anytime and it works so I find it hard to justify why this doesn't work on anyone other than Apple.
Come on Apple, or anyone else, I am clearly not alone so please get this fixed so we can move to IOS5 too.
    Thanks
