ITunes issues updating iPhone 4s

my daughter has just brought a new IMac, she plugs her iPhone 4s into the new imac to sync it and tells her she needs a later version Itunes on her iphone which also is new, it does not give her any options to download the software and no matter what site we choose to sneak in from it does not seem to recogonise her iphone, we went into the iphone and reset everything there to try again but it just goes around in circles - tells us the same thing,  it does not even show a device is plugged in, tried a different usb port, tried a different lead, out of options. if anyone can help us would be good.

Has the New iMac been Authorised...
Open iTunes and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

  • ITunes issue on IPhone 5s - songs don't show up

I upgraded the operating system on my iPhone 5s to 8.1.2. I manually synced songs from an old Macbook Pro with ITunes 11.4 (the most recent version). (I can not update to iTunes 12 because my computer is not supported.) The issue is that 11 voice memos that were synced to the iPhone 5s do not show up. They do not show up as songs by the "song titles" I gave them or as the "voice memo" genre. The playlist I created for them shows up as empty. These voice memos were originally recorded on the iPhone 5s. The weird thing is that when I plug the iPhone 5s into my Macbook Pro via USB, the voice memos show up as having been transferred.  I have tried reboot the iPhone and resetting it.

After hours of resync-ing and rebooting, I figured out what was going on. The voice memos are on the phone but they only show up in the voice memo app. They do not show up in the iTunes app. I don't need to play them in iTunes so this solves the problem for me. Hopefully, my experience will save someone else some time.

  • I believe it's a bug: How do I fix the 'items could not be synced. See iTunes' issue on iPhone?

    Hello,
I've read previous discussions that are marked as fixing this issue, tried them, and they didn't work. Including deleting the cache.
Everyday I've synced my iPhone since the iOS 5 update, I've had this alert: '54 items could not be synced. See iTunes...'
When I go to iTunes, no clue, no buttons, etc..
I do know now what items those are, by sheer coincidence.
I clicked the triangle near my iPhone device in iTunes and saw 4 greyed out items under Television. They were 4 tv shows I had purchased and then deleted from my iPhone. I never synced them with my desktop. Yet the device is trying to sync something that supposedly has been deleted.
So then I clicked in Rentals, and there are 50 items greyed out. All Rentals I watched through my iPhone since I've purchased it. They get deleted after 48hrs you've started watching. Desktop is trying to sync those as well. Even though they also have been deleted from my iPhone.
So now I know what those 54 items that cannot not be synced came from, but not how to fix it.

I updated to iOS 5.0.1 days ago and didn't receive that notification until just now...
This time I synced new photos I took yesterday, and it gave me the:
"iTunes Sync: 54 items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information"
Perhaps it kicks off when new items get synced.
I've decided to rent a movie yesterday. Once it gets deleted, I'm curious to see if it jumps to 55 items.

  • ITunes fails updating iPhone and iPad - works using another computer

I am unable to update or restore the software on my iPhone 4 and my iPad 2. It always fails, sometimes with a 1013 error, sometimes with other errors.
It failed while attempting to update my iPhone to 4.3 and also while trying to update to 4.3.1.
I was also unable to update my iPad 2 to 4.3.1.
I connected the devices to another mac and was able to successfully update both devices the first time.
This problem occurred when running iTunes 10.2 and still occurs with 10.2.1.
I have also downloaded a fresh copy of iTunes 10.2.1 and still have the problem.
Can anyone think of a solution other than formatting and reinstalling everything?
    My configuration is as follows:
    MacBook Pro i5 2.4ghz Mid 2010
    OS X 10.6.7
    8gb RAM
    iTunes 10.2.1

After updating iTunes to 10.2.2 it wiped out my iPhone, iPad and iPad2 and it will not restore on another pc in the house.  I spent 6 hours restoring the iPhone but the iPad and iPad2 has taken 6 hours going thru every step in the support recommendations as well as 3  hours on the phone with 2 separate techs today.
I uninstalled and reinstalled, went thru with the tech and edited the registry as well as the msconfig.  Rebooted the PC's, reinstalled, uninstalled all of the anti virus software and did a limited start-up, all to no avail.
You cannot reinstall the last working version of iTunes because the library is synced with a later version - so I have 2 dead devices.
Other friends are experiencing the same problem and I know of 2 dozen others experiencing the same issues.

  • Issues updating iPhone software

I am trying to update my iphone software using my laptop computer and I get the message "The iphone software server could not be contacted". Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Check Hosts file if this is blocking Computer's  free access to Apple servers.
Remove all entries containing gs.apple.com, reboot and try.

  • Accidentally quit iTunes while updating iphone

    Hi Everybody,
My boss just accidentally quit iTunes while we were updating her iphone. The phone's screen is black with the white apple, and status bar below. And the status bar shows about 1/3 of the way complete. When we restarted itunes, the little message window at the top (which would normally say 'backing up So-and-so's iphone') just has the apple symbol in. In the iphone summary window it says 'your phone is up to date...'.
I am scared to press check for update, and came here to see whether this has happened to anyone else before I did anything stupid. And actually, as I have been typing this, the status bar on the phone appears to have progressed, and is now slightly past the halfway mark.... very strange. Anyone have any experience with this?
    Thanks,
    Jennifer

Thanks Nick. It did indeed sort itself out. My boss worked out pretty quickly that closing itunes was maybe not a good idea, but thanks for offering to act as the messenger. Perhaps I could make some other suggestions in your name though...
To anyone who has come to this thread in a panic after having had the same thing happen: do try letting the phone be for a while. It wasn't immediately clear that the progress bar was moving, as it was inching (millimetering?) along very slowly. It was only because I came here before trying to do anything else that had the chance to notice it was making progress.

  • 3 accounts at itunes, problems updating iphone apps, how erase old acc?

    hi
i am having troubles with my itunes accounts. for whatever reasons
i have 3 accounts there, which i established in the last 10 years, buying software and hardware at apple store germany. i cant remember the last 2 account names/passwords, only the present one. thats confusing. one sideeffect is, that i cant update all iphone apps, it refuses to update some apps, which i bought earlier.
i have to do it manually via iphone app update inside the iphone, also i usually get 3 mails from "apple news".
i would like to have ONE account which refers to my .mac mobileme membership and my main apple mail adress, but i dont know where to call in order to change that, there is no support for itunes account (phone) other than mail, so i mailed them and got answered from a mailbot like "we cant erase old accounts". i am feeling helpless.
    any idea?
    thanks!

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you replaced your hard drive, your phone will see your computer as a "new" computer and all itunes content will first be deleted from your phone. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to your phone or music ripped on your own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from your phone using third party software:
    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php
Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
    1. Disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected under preferences in itunes.
    2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in iCal & Address Book. The entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
    3. Connect your phone, itunes running, do not sync at this point.
    4. Store>Authorize this computer.
    5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
    6. Right click(Control Click) in the device pane & select reset warnings.
    7. Right click again and select backup.
    8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
That's as good as it gets without a backup of your itunes library.

  • ITunes wont update iPhone

I've notice since Lion came out, that iTunes seems to have problems syncing with my iPhone and , occasionally my iPad. Podcast. That have been listened too fully when synced, will show as read but it doesn't get deleted from the iPhone music app. Refreshing iTunes these listened too show dissapear from the list as expected but when the iPhone syncs again, these shows are not removed from the music app as you would expect but I'd find they were put back into iTunes as listened too shows. The only wy to get rid of them is to manual remove them from the iPhone music app and then refresh iTunes before syncing.
This also happens with audiobooks too. Fully listened too audiobooks will not delete from the iPhone music app even after the book is deleted from iTunes or unchecked in the device settings in iTunes when plugged in. It happens with wifi syncs and cable syncs!

It has not been available all morning. There are many posts about this.
Some are reporting that it is now available.
Close itunes and re-open, then try.

  • ITunes issue on iPhone 4

I have a very interesting issue, and I'm hoping SOMEONE has the ability to help.
I have an iTunes Japan account. I purchase iTunes JP cards, and use those to purchase Japanese music.
Within the past month (maybe month and a half), the iTunes JP store has been wifi only on my phone. When I try to connect to iTunes, it says "Cannot connect to the iTunes store: You must connect to a wi-fi network to access the iTunes store." I can search for music and videos, and even listen to samples, but if I try to download, I get a message saying that it's over 1 byte and must connect to wifi. The JP App store works most of the time. The "Featured" page won't always load, but I can search and download from the JP App store fine.
I don't have an issue with the US iTunes/App store. I wouldn't have an issue with this normally, but at work and at home, I do not have any access to wifi, so if I want to download music, I can't.
    Anyone have any thoughts?

Oh. Gosh.  What's Windows got to do with anything? You're on Leopard, on a Mac.
It seems from other discussions my current OS on my laptop is the reason why it won't sync

  • Itunes issues on iphone 4

    Hi
I have completley lost my itunes app on my iphone 4 and when synched with my computer i can not access my apps?
    any ideas please??

When I went to restore my phone, I may have found the cause of these problems. I never deleted all of my original synced songs before enabling iTunes Match.
When I just went to do the restore, I figured I'd delete all of my songs, then disable iTunes Match. After deleting about 3.5 GB of music and disabling iTunes Match, I ran the sync to backup my iPhone. It said there was still 2.2 GB of music. I checked my phone just in case and there was 2.2 GB there, probably the original synced songs that I never removed.
Anyway, I'm doing the restore now just in case and will respond tomorrow with how everything is working.

  • Syncronizing my 3gs with itunes the sync does not finish because itunes allways crash and stuck i made some troubleshoots like reinstall again but nothing and my itunes is update and the system is windows vista home premium. Please help me...

Syncronizing my 3gs with itunes the sync does not finish because itunes always crash and stuck and i can not sync my device, i dont no whats wrong because the itunes even can not  acess itunes store, still loading waiting for itunes store and nothing.I tryed reinstall itunes but just waste of time.
My itunes is update, iphone 3gs 4.3.4, system is windows vista home premium.
    Please help me.

I also have the Mcaffe security centre so on the face of it we have very similar situations and I had not problems.
You asked what I meant about saving the installer on your PC.
When you go to the iTunes download page:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
And click on download, you should be offered the choice of running the installer or saving it. You need to click on save and then choose a folder on you PC where you want it saved. But I think you already did that.
After the installer file - iTunessetup.exe - is save on your computer, you double click on it to run it.
It's very odd that the installer fails at different stages. usually when the installation fails, it is at a specific stage and usually generates an error message.
I am afraid I am mystified. Have you had any other problems with your PC which might suggest a general problem not specific to iTunes?
The only other suggestion I have is to download a fresh copy of the installer - in case it got corrupted. You could also try using "run as administrator" to run the installer. It should be an option if you right click on the installer file.
The other thing it might be worth trying is to install it from another account, but you would need to create another administrator account if you don't a;ready have one. Or if you have another account that is not an admin account, you can temporarily promote it from the control panel>>User accounts.

  • New software update still not downloading.  Apps updates have all downloaded since iTunes issue resolved.  Is the software issue also related to this, or is there another problem?  This is on my iPhone 6, not my Mac.

Trying to download the iOS 8.2 software update on my iPhone 6, but it won't update.  All app updates have resolved since the iTunes issue was resolved.  Is the software update issue related to this as well, or is it another problem entirely?
I've synced it to iTunes, turned it off/on, etc., but still not downloading.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi DebC64,
So is the iOS 8.2 update not downloading to your iPhone, computer or both?
You have synced it to iTunes, that is an option to update if it's not updating wirelessly.  Please see if other steps help.
